This wine label design was created for an upscale res-

taurant called Cinghale, which is Italian for “wild boar.”

Exit 10 was commissioned to create the entire identity

for the restaurant, including large charcoal render-

ings of boars and a label for the restaurant’s own wine,

Rosso. All elements of the label were created using

pen, ink and pencil, with photocopier manipulation of

the contrast and resolution. The imagery was meant to

capture the energy and attitude of a wild boar. This is

manifested by the use of ragged lines, expressionistic

typography and claustrophobic use of white space.

Throughout the theater season at Portland Center

Stage, audiences experience a roller-coaster ride of

emotions and responses from laughter to despair.

Plazm’s posters for the campaign capture the emo-

tional ride, as the city’s most prestigious theater

company produces comedies, musicals, traditional

Shakespeare and dramas that take on serious con-

temporary issues—including the world premiere of the

stage adaptation of Ken Kesey’s classic novel Some-

times a Great Notion. Like Portland Center Stage, we

work with internationally acclaimed artists alongside

top local talent.

Gastronomic entrepreneur Rajah Dagstani of Dagstani

& Sons approached me about designing a logo for his

new mobile cappuccino venture “Piccolo Principe”—

the little prince—but neither one of us know how to

leave well enough alone, so a logo turned into cover-

ing the entire van in gold leaf and classic flake gold

paint. It’s coming to a town near you as soon as we

figure out the intricacies of the plumbing.

This poster was created as the first in a series of

materials to promote creative exploration. A decon-

structed Apple Power Mac G4 was handcrafted into

a fantasy world using a myriad of elements including

clay, balloons, pipe cleaner, insulation, wire, paper,

plastic and anything else we could get our hands

on. By making this poster interactive in the form of

a comic haiku, we invite the viewers to provide the

piece with alternate meanings.
