• Remember, you want to come up with a treaty that will end the war for good, but don’t forget your own bargaining chips (were you a winner or loser, do you have representation, etc)

Terms of the Treaty

• Great Britain got all of Canada and Louisiana east of the Mississippi (except New Orleans)

• France gave up claims to the region between the British Atlantic colonies and the Mississippi River

• The French gave the island of New Orleans and all of Louisiana west of the Mississippi to Spain

• Spain  gave up Florida to the British

• Gave British the free navigation of the Mississippi River

Territory ceded to Spain will be retaken by France in 1800

Results

• British claims in America expanded

• British debt grew

• Resentment towards colonists grew in Parliament

• American colonists unified against a common enemy

• Colonial militias saw themselves as a "people's army”

• France's influence in North American declined
