Welcome . . . to the Prescott Basin
The Prescott Basin area is immediately south, east, and west of Prescott, Arizona. The area is approximately 59,000 acres (about 4 percent of the Prescott National Forest).
The Prescott Basin is located within a zone, called Wildland Urban Interface Zone (WUI). This is an interface area between the wildlands and human development. The Greater Prescott Community is adjacent to the Public Lands of the Prescott National Forest.
WUIs typically experience greater human impacts due to increased visitor use and demand for recreation such as increased fire risk, soil erosion and displaced wildlfire. This is why dispersed camping is only permitted in designated dispersed camping areas for 7 days in the Prescott Basin and up to 7 additional days in a Prescott National Forest developed campground within a 30 day period.
Leave your site
clean so others may enjoy it!
To extinguish your fire. Pour water•and stir with a shovel until cold. Feelfor heat.
Dispersed Camping is . . .
. . . camping outside of developed campgrounds. Incontrast to camping in developed campsites, dispersedcamping is more primitive, and no facilities or services —such as trash collection, water, and toilets—areprovided.
Be Careful With Fire!
• Use only dead and down wood thatfits in the fire ring.
• Do not burn trash or pallets. Burn allfires down to ash.
