This bus tour will give you a general impression of the city. On our walk through the pedestrian zone of Old Town we take a look at St. Michael’s Gate, the fi rst University Istropolitana, St. Martin’s Cathedral (where the coronations were performed), the Primate’s Palace, the Old Town Hall and fi nishing the tour at the Opera House.

Official language The official languages of the conference are English and German.

The Conference venue

The Conference will be held in the Conference Centre of the Slovak University of Technology which is situated in the centre of Bratislava, from Wednesday – June 2 to Friday – June 4, 2010.

Programme Changes

The organizers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances.

Registration at the Venue

On-site registration will take place in the Foyer of the conference venue. Check-in starts at 13:00 on June,1,2010.

Coffee Breaks, Lunches

Coffee Breaks will be served in the exhibition area; lunches will be served in the dining room of the University.

Smoking Policy

For the comfort and health of all participants, smoking is not permitted at any official room. This includes scientifi c sessions, business and similar meetings, dining rooms and also registration area & foyers. In case you are a smoker, please contact the on-site staff for information on smoking designated areas within the conference venue.

Bratislava

The capital city of the Slovak Republic. The old town is located along the Danube River close to the boundary with Austria and Hungary. Population: 550 000 inhabitants, official language: Slovak. Insurance: The organizers do not accept responsibility for individual medical, travel or personal insurance. All participants are strongly advised to make their own personal insurance before travelling to the congress.

VAT

The Slovak legislation requires participants to pay all their costs as registration fees, accommodation, etc. including the Slovak VAT. In case the VAT rate changes, the change will be automatically applied to services ordered.

Currency & Banking

EUR is the official currency in the Slovak Republic. Exchange of foreign currency is available at Bratislava international Airport and at most hotels, banks and exchange offices throughout the city. International credit cards are accepted for payments in hotels, restaurants and shops.

Electricity

The Slovak Republic uses a 220 volt 50 Hz system, sockets have the European standard and plugs are three-prong grounded.

Shopping

Most shops in Bratislava are open from 9:00 to 18:00, Monday through Saturday. Shops in the city centre are usually open from 9:00 to 20:00, Monday through Sunday.

Tipping

Service is usually included in the bill in bars and restaurants but tips are welcome. If you consider the service good enough to warrant a tip, we suggest about ten percent.
