Head Students 2015:
Robbie Thomson, Alex Parsons,
Dylan Holmes and Siri Sriamporn
Congratulations to Daniel
Ballard who was awarded
Dux 2014
Congratulations to all the Year 11 to 13 students who received awards at the single subject assemblies earlier in the week and at yesterday’s prizegivings. Both prizegivings were wonderful opportunities for students, staff and parents to acknowledge academic and other successes, with particular congratulations to our dux for 2014, Daniel Ballard. It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Macann back to the College, as well as distinguished guests from the local community, Mr Calum Penrose, and our founding Principal Mr Eric Jerkovich. Thank you to academic staff from tertiary institutions and representatives of local businesses who attended the Senior Prizegiving to award scholarships to some of our top students. Student leadership in 2014 was acknowledged, and I thank the Head Students for their speeches. Congratulations to the leaders of Rosehill College for 2015, who were announced: Dylan Holmes, Alex Parsons, Sirirak Sriamporn and Robbie Thomson. My thanks go to all the staff who contributed to these most successful ceremonies.
Teachers have been working hard to prepare all students for their upcoming exams. Best wishes to all for success in these exams as the outcomes may have a significant impact on students’ lives.
In the news:Last Sunday, the TV One News finished with the Good Sorts segment which featured Blair Lowry and the You Can Do It programme. This programme was started by 2010 Head Students Sharn Birch-Robertson and Tegan Tapara and involves our College students having a games session with students from Rosehill School next door one lunchtime a week. The Good Sorts segment can be viewed at http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/good-sort-blair-lowry-video-6121173
Also in the news this week was an article about Luke Ronaki who left Rosehill College from Year 13 in June 2010, who has recently graduated as a policeman: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/10696286/Sign-of-the-times-for-new-policeman

The external examinations begin on Monday 10th November. All students must bring their admission slip to all examinations. Students should check these and the exam timetables carefully to ensure they attend at the correct time. It is best for students to arrive no later than 9.10 for morning exams starting at 9.30 and 1.40 for afternoon exams starting at 2pm. There is detailed information with the Instructions and Information for Candidates sheets also handed out with Admission sheets, and reports when the students left. Please use this link http://goo.gl/LRb3DC to find further information or obtain the Instructions sheet.
If students forget or lose their admission slips they will have to get a reprint from the Student Office. Reprints will be charged at $2 each.
Make sure you keep our energy up for the final part of NCEA this year. Good luck and we hope you will be proud of your results in January.
Final Briefing
Junior ExamsThese began today and continue until Wednesday 12 November. Students were given personalised exam timetables this week, and more information is available by checking last week’s newsletter. Please go over this information with your Year 9 and 10 students to reinforce what Tutor Group teachers will be telling their students. Classes for Year 11 will be finalised based on the results of the Year 10 exams, so it is most important that students take the exams seriously and study well.

Drivers Licences for our students are important !!! We are finding that most jobs for school leavers require the applicants to have at least a Restricted Drivers Licence so we urge parents/caregivers to support them in this. From NZQA for senior students:Learner login and result notificationAs students leave for examination study they need to be reminded that results will only be reported online (unless they have requested a result notice through the Learner login).
To access their results, students who have not used their NZQA Learner login since April 2014 need to go to the Learner login page and:• update their password to meet NZQA requirements for stronger passwords• advise their current email address in case they need their password reset• create and register a user name.
Students who have never logged in to the NZQA secure learner site should register now using their National Student Number (NSN) and date of birth.
To prevent delays in accessing personal examination and study information (including examination results in January 2015) this should be done as soon as possible.
