Background
Brief Deliverables
Leeds college of art is an independent educational establishment specialising in the creative fields. With two campuses for foundation and higher education. The graduating year of 2015 are hosting a end of year show to show their artwork and to promote the talent within the university.
Name and create a visual identity, for the Leeds College of Art End of Year Show 2015. The campaign needs to promote the show at the same time as reflecting the quality and values of the college. This look and feel will be applied to a number of different collateral from signage to print and online applications
In collaboration with Rinesh Mistry, Bobby Jones and Tristan Currie.

01 Initial Concept
To highlight and celebrate the diversity of the students of Leeds collage of art. Through creating a visual identity around the theme of ‘breaking the mould’ through experimental type.

Posters
Research undertaken for the brief was influenced by the theme of breaking through type and materials.
Typography
The typography experimented with altering type through ommiting letterforms or detracting the length and counter points of type which was an influential factor to the outcome of the brief.

Type
Individual developments from the collaboration included experimenting with the theme of dissecting type to represent the theme of breaking in a digital format, sourcing influence from the visual resarching in detracting letterformds of the type.
Colour
Bold bright colours where used to create impact and the colour orange signified a sense of urgency and adventure which would engage the potential target audience to get involved and see what the students had to offer.

Concepts
The collaborative group created three concepts exploring the theme of breaking in stages. The initial concept was done gramatcally, the second was done through dissecting the type and the third was done througha 3D type installation experimenting with moulds.
The experiment of different outcomes were created to show how the visual identity could be represented in a multitude of exciting and engaging formats.
Pitch
The designs where all pitched to the marketing department of Leeds college fo art and was shortlisted for further development.

Feedback
From the pitch feedback was given from agency Peter and Paul, on the design to make it more diverse by exploring and developing the concept through different media and materials
Concept
The design developed through changing the initial name to ‘make or break’ and moving forward with the third concept of creating type from different materials to execute a more unique outcome from the previous designs.

Typography
Individual development for the brief experimented with altering type through a glithing method to represent the idea of breaking. A series of digital experiments where created to test the possible outcome of the new concept.
Photography
Photogrphy of breaking moulds where introduced to highlight the different media and materials that could be used, suggested from the initial feedback.
Design Development06
Materials
A series of media and materials where experimented with for the development of the design from laser cut acrylic to plater cast mould of typography to genrate series of outcomes and experimental typography. The breaking element was introdcued through breaking the materials and arranging the type in a scattered format for impact.
Typography
Futura CG Bold was used for the process as the thick letter forms where practical for the different materials that where used and for legibilty.
Colour
Experiments with colour and filters where also introduced to maintain impact and to stand out amongst other year shows.
Design Development07
Poster
The final resolution took form in using the natural colours of the plaster cast mould for authenticty. The colour developments became inconsistent and was a defininfg factor in the design outcome.
Distribution
A seclection of in context mock ups where designed to show how the end of year show would look at Leeds college of art and the promotional material needed to attract an audience to the end of year show.
