STYLING FOR FASHION

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this portfolio piece is to demonstrate my ability to create flawless fashion styles for various types of events.

Using photographs from actual events, I will take you on a personal tour through my most recent adventures in styling.

I would like to use this portfolio to attain a job involving visual merchandising and styling.

DAY TO NIGHT ‘Day to Night’ is a theme I worked on for a

client.

She needed outfits that would easily transition from the workplace to a dinner meeting or an evening out with friends.

The client was more than thrilled with the outcome.

I feel this project shows my creativity because it proves my ability to create outfits that can ‘multi-task’ for the wearer.

BLACK DRESS

Remove the jacket.

Switch the necklace and belt.

Add gold embellished clutch.

BLACK TROUSERS AND SWEATER

Remove the vest and the scarf and the glasses.

Add the cuff bracelets and the studded leather jacket.

Switch the shoes.

Swap the purses.

INTERNSHIP Over this semester at school, I also interned

at a bridal boutique. One of my tasks at the bridal shop were to stylize clients.

Learning how to outfit and coordinate outfits for bridesmaids, brides and mothers of the brides is no easy feat, but I have learned how to and succeeded within the field.

This form of styling also included ordering merchandise to keep consistent with clients demands.

MY FIRST WEDDING The first wedding for which I did all of

the styling myself took place last summer.

I coordinated the bride and her bridesmaids for a Military themed wedding. Since it was Military related, I had to keep in mind that the men would be wearing traditional ‘Dress Blues’ and not the traditional black.

The Bride was so pleased with the outcome of the dresses and I believe that I did a fantastic job tying it all together.

THE HAPPY COUPLE: Jennifer and Marc met in January 2007. Engaged in February 2008. Married in May 2009.

THE WEDDING DAY

THE BRIDESMAIDS

THE BRIDESMAIDS, CONTINUED. The bridesmaids were adorned in

matching knee-length dresses by After Six. Style Number 6553.

THE CEREMONY

This image demonstrates the potential difficulties I could have had then outfitting an entire wedding party to match Military ‘Dress Blues’

PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLING I have also worked with photographers to style

photo shoots.

Working to photographers is probably the least challenging form of styling I have experienced thud far because it is all generally set up in a location and you have time and multiple opportunities to get it right. There is room for substitution of an accessory if one is not suitable for the shot, whereas you do not generally have that luxury of correcting a style.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion of my portfolio, I would like to reiterate that I have a passion for styling and this includes styling in terms of windows, store displays, outfits for mannequins, etc. as well as styling brides for weddings, models for photo shoots and ‘day to night’ looks for clients.
