TCFF hosts an average of 365 free and low-cost community events each year to make the moviegoing experience accessible to all.
In 2017 alone, TCFF hosted 6,008 students for films, complete with adrink and popcorn at our expense, at screenings that expand media liter-acy and correlate to curriculum. In the ten years since the State has beenreopened, we've hosted screenings for 42,622 elementary, middle school, high school and college students.
TCFF partners with and supports more than 175 organizations doingimportant work in our community. In 2017, the State Theatre, Bijou, and TCFF donated tens of thousands of dollars in services to worthy causes.
TCFF has played a significant role in creating a thriving andvibrant downtown Traverse City. The estimated economic impact of thefestival is $15 million annually and many businesses - including those thatdo not sponsor the festival - benefit from the increased tourism dollarsthat our organization brings to the city and to Northern Michigan.
With a dedicated army of thousands of volunteers (2,500 State andBijou volunteers, 2,000 film festival volunteers, 200,000 volunteer hourseach year) and individual donors (1,000 State and Bijou Members, 4,000Friends of the Film Festival, 1,000 Festival Sponsors) who believe in ourmission, the future of our organization is very bright.
Free and low-cost community events and educational programming throughout the year. Though costly, this mission is too important for so many, and too integral to the Traverse City community to stop doing.
