POINT AFTER TOUCHDOWN ANDFIELD GOAL RULES

1. ELIGIBLE RECEIVERS WITH INELIGIBLE NUMBERS MUST REPORT. ELIGIBLE NUMBERSIN INELIGIBLE POSITIONS MUST REPORT--TO THE REFEREE.

2. WE MUST HAVE SEVEN (7) MEN ON THE L.O.S.

3. COVER WHENTHE BALL IS KICKED--ENDS YO U CAN NOT BE DOWNFIELDIN COVERAGE UNTIL BALL IS KICKED.

2

4. A FIELD GOAL THAT STAYS IN THE FIELD OF PLAY CAN BE ADVANCED BY THE DEFENSE.WE MUST DOWNALL FIELD GOALS.

5. A FIELD GOAL THAT CROSSES THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE CAN NOT BE ADVANCED BY THEOFFENSE UNLESS THE DEFENSE FUMBLES THE BALL AFTER IT CROSSES THE L.O.S. WEMUST DOWNALL FIELD GOALS. MUFFS CAN NOT BE ADVANCED BUT CAN BE RECOVERED.

6. A FIELD GOAL THAT DOES NOT CROSS THE L.O.S. CAN BE ADVANCED BY EITHER TEAM.WE MUST DOWNALL FIELD GOALS IF UNABLE TO ADVANCE THE BALL.

7.WE

HAVE A "FIRE" CALLON

PAT. IF THE ATTEMPTED PLACEMENT IS ABORTED, THEHOLDER WILL YELL "FIRE". A SUCCESSFUL PASS OR RUN INTO THE ENDZONE ISWORTH 2 POINTS.

8. A DEFENDER NOT ALIGNED ON THE L.O.S. CAN NOT ADVANCE TOWARD THE L.O.S. ANDLEAP IN AN ATTEMPT TO BLOCK A KICK.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES

1. The Holder is in command of the FG/PAT operation. Knowledge of ouropponent's rushes is as important as maintaining his poise.

2. The Snapper, Holder and Kicker must work as a unit. Strive forperfection in practice and in game. Total time for snap to kickis 1.2 to 1.3 seconds.

3. Any lineman aligned out of proper number position must report to theofficial and declare himself ineligible.

4. NEVER be drawn offsides . . . Maintain your poise versus teams thatshif t or move around in an attempt to get you to move.

5. Everyone alert for "Fire" call. Linemen block solid, Tight Ends andWing Backs release.

6. On Point After Touchdown, block solid . . . on Field Goal cover after kick.

1. BE ALERT TO HOLDER'S CALL OF LIVE COLOR. FAKE WILL BE CALLED BY HEAD COACH.

2. BE ALERT FOR FIRE CALL.

3. BLOCK AN AREA--OON'T BLOCK A MAN. GET BIG AND USE GOOD TECHNIQUE.

4. ALWAYS BE ALERT TO RETURN POSSIBILITY.5. LINEMEN DO NOT RELEASE DOWNFIELOON FIRE CALL OR FAKES.

6. TOTAL TIME--SNAP AND KICK = 1.2-1.3 SECONDS.

7. GET SET QUICKLY WHEN WORKING AGAINST CLOCK.

8. HOLDER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CALLING TIME OUT IF 40/25- SECOND C L ~ - l S - ~ R U N N · I NDOWNON CRUCIAL KICK. ALWAYS RESPONSIBLE FOR USING TIME.

EXTRA POINT AND FIELD GOAL PROTECTION

PHILOSOPHY

The objective is to score points. Total concentration to even the smallestdetail is very important. We must perform with great effort both mentally

andphysically

for ourprotection to

be solid.

TIMING

In order to minimize the potential for a blocked kick, we must kick the ballwithin 1.3 seconds. If we maintain the depth and the width of our kickingpocket and kick the ball in the alloted time, i t will be virtually impossibleto block one of our kicks.

TYPES OF RUSHES

A block can occur at any area across our front. However, there are certaintypes of rushes that we must understand in order to effectively block them.

A. INSIDE RUSH

1. This rush is designed to co.1lapse the depth of the kickingpocket. ihis allows a ta l ler rusher to extend an arm orhand into the kicking lane.

2. COACHING POINT: Interior blockers must brace and maintainthe depth of the kicking pocket.Be physical--can not get collapsed.

B. OUTSIDE BLOCK

1. The philosophy of an outside block is to free one of threerushers (preferably the inside rusher) by rushing fromdesignated alignments within stress areas of the blockerszones .'

A. CENTER

4. Technique: Brace with your inside foot but never move your outsidefoot. Stay low and flexed. Press into Center withnear shoulder, hand or forearm. Keep shoulders parallelto L.O.S. Use hands to avoid being pulled forward.

HURRY-UP FIELD GOAL SITUATION

Our success in getting a field goal try with minimal time l e f t on the gameclock rests with how well we can execute a IIHurry-Upll field goal attempt.

A. PROCEDURE

1. Holder and Center must be responsible for insuring the ball iskicked in time.

2. Sprint onto the field yelling IIHurry-Up Field Goal ll

a. The Center must immediately set-in over the ball andprepare himself to snap

b. Guards, Tackles, Ends and Wingbacks must quickly alignand get set. Don't mill around!

c. Holder must quickly prepare with Kicker and as soon as Kickeris ready, command "SET". The Center must snap the ballimmediately after the Holder's verbal command.

3. Coaching Points

a. Know the time we have to kick the ball. Go by what is on theGame Clock not the 40 second clock.

b. Quickly g e t · s ~ tand ready for play to s ta r t

c. Holder must show the Center hi s hand as he commands "SET".This is in case the Center can not hear the verbal commanddue to crowd noise.

d. Kicker must know, prior to running on the field, the spot and

distance from the ball.NO HUDDLE FIELD GOAL

A field goal without the benefit of a huddle because clock can not be stopped

Coaching Points:

a. Team gather on sideline with Head Coach - Ready to Go!

b. Anticipate having 15 seconds or less to get Field Goal off

c. Eligible receivers with ineligble numbers must report

d. Get aligned and ge t set quickly. No movement.

e. ALERT! 3rd Down, No Time Outs, and the possibili ty of being orgetting into Field Goal range-

FIRE CALL

., "RRE CALL" IS OFTEN A GAME - SAVER AND CHANGES THE MOMENTUM OF A TEAM, ESPECIALLY IF IT LEADS- - , A TOUCHDOWN. ANYTIMEWE HAVE A BAD SNAP OR THE HOLDER HAS DIFACULTV WITH THE SNAP, HE

U. YELL REPEATEDLY, "FIRE, ARE, ARE." THE TIGHT END AND WING BACK ON BOTH SIDES RELEASE AS-OWN AND THE HOLDER ATTEMPTS TO RUN OR THROW TO MAINTAIN POSSESSION OF THE BALLOR TOINVERT A PAT. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE ENDS GET 10 YARDS DEPTH, AND WINGS GET 5 YARDS, ANDAT THE TIGHT END AND WING BACK BE IN THE END ZONE ON ANY "ARE CALL" DURING A PAT ATTEMPT.iEMEN PASS PROTECT AND 0 0 NOT GO OOWN AELD.
