Welcome to the Tap Section

Christchurch Competitions Society

Denise Henderson

Denise is considered to be one of New Zealand’s

most respected and successful tap dancing

choreographers, teachers, and adjudicators,

having trained students for 36 years to the

highest level of national and international

competition. Denise trains over 50 dancers ‘one

on one’ for competitions as well as classes in

musical theatre and acting.

Denise has been a musical theatre performer

since the very early 1980’s and has a string of

successful roles to her credit, favourites include;

Velma (Chicago) Miss Hannigan (Annie) The

Wardrobe (Beauty and The Beast) and Madame

Thenardier (Les Miserables).

Denise is now more interested in directing musicals and having directed My Fair Lady, The

Sound of Music and Anything Goes is excited to do more of this work in the future.

Denise would like to wish all the competitors the very best of luck for the competition.

Lara Davidson

Lara has been a competitive tap dancer since

the age of five, learning from her mum,

Denise Henderson. Lara also enjoys ballet

and jazz competitions and trains vocally with

Arlie McCormick, at the University of Otago.

Having appeared in a number of musicals,

mostly for the Taieri Musical Society, favourite shows include; Molly (Annie), (Oliver) and was

thrilled to be cast as Louisa in ‘The Sound of Music’. Lara has also appeared in several of her

high school productions too including, ‘Chicago’, ‘Babette’, in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in 2014.

Ariel in ‘Footloose’ in 2016 and most recently, starring as Reno Sweeny in ‘Anything Goes’ in

April this year. Lara is still actively competing and would like to take this opportunity to wish

everyone the very best of luck for the competition.
