COMPLETE ECONOMICAL STUDY OF THE ENZYME FUEL TREATMENT
In order to measure a realistic fuel consumption, several parameters have been taken into account: fuel con-sumed during the evaluation period of course, but also the distance and the volume/weight transported during this same period.
Consequently, the results are expressed in Gross Tonne Kilometers (GTK): gross weight of train in tonnes multiplied by the distance it travels in kilometres.
General conditions
1 · Three identical locomotives of 3,000 hp each have been selected by the railroad company.
2 · One regular line has been selected: Tierra Blanca - Coatzacoalcos, back and forth, each trip being 301 km long.
3 · Data have been monitored during October and November 2002.
4 · Average weight has been deter-mined during the evaluation period, including the measurement of the baseline without XBEE: → from 960 to 1,500 tons per trip to Tierra Blanca → from 1,200 to 1,800 tons per trip to Coatzacoalcos
5 · Environmental parameters such atmospheric pressure, Temperature and Humidity have been measured too.
Adding XBEE to the fuel
The tanks can contain 6,000 Lt and each trip (back and forth) consumes from 3,000 to 3,800 Lt.
The treatment has been monitored by the independent supervisor Grupo Proveen at a standard ratio of 4,000:1.
