FROM OUR GOVERNOR

Brothers,

I would like to welcome Gary “Snake” Smith as our

Treasurer and Phil Minor as our Prelate. With the special

election of these two brothers, our Board of Officers is now completed.

I would like to give a big acknowledgement to Roger Craig for his donation of

the freshest eggs for many of our breakfasts on Sunday.

Again, I would like to thank the cooks and the bartenders for their tireless

effort to keep the Lodge functioning and serving the most scrumptious meals

and beverages. Saturday night dinners are awesome! Thank you to the cooks

and servers. All of these functions are run by volunteers so if you feel the need

to spend some volunteer time at the Moose, you will be welcomed with open

arms.

Our Rib Cook-Off held on Saturday, July 29 was after the newsletter deadline,

so we will have the winners in our September Newsletter. Our next cook-off

will be on September 30 and will be a Chili Cook-Off.

Football season is just around the corner and we will have Monday Night

Football with refreshments being available during the game.

We have experienced many fires locally and clouds of smoke all over our state

and in nearby states. Please take precautions and if you have respiratory

problems, stay inside or make a quick dash to the Social Quarters to enjoy the

air conditioning, a cool beverage and the company of your fellow members.

“Remember, if you always do what you have always done, you always get what

you always got”.

FROM THE SOCIAL QUARTERS

Greetings from the social quarters.

Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying the

summer. Does it ever seem like life just flies by before you

know it another month has gone by and it’s time to write

another article. I have been busy visiting with my sister

from Michigan so almost missed the news deadline. I guess

that is what happens when you are having fun.

We finished our cornhole tournament last night. The

winners were 1ST place Larry Hatfield, 2nd place was

Chris Mueller and 3rd place was Brittany Bullinger. We

had a small group of players but fun was had by all. Thank

you all for playing. We will not be doing a tournament in

August but will probably start something up in September.

Starting on Friday August 4th we will be having taco bar

Friday’s. This is all you can eat tacos for $5.00 and we will

play Ship, Captain and Crew around the bar that night. So

please come join the fun. Also, don’t forget King of Clubs

on Monday nights.

We have a bunch of loving meals planned for dinner

on Saturday night. James will be doing his famous Deep-

Fried Pork Chops on the 5th. Norm is cooking Chicken

Fried Steak for Blue and Gold on the 12th.Bill is cooking

Rotisserie Chicken on the 19th. Bill and James will be cook-

ing NY Steaks on the 26th.

The breakfasts on Sunday are looking pretty yummy.

Norm will be making Denver Omelets on the 6th, Bill and

Tamara will be doing a standard breakfast on the 13th,

Doris and Jane will be making Hobo Omelets for the dis-

trict meeting on the 20th. Tamara and Stacy will be doing

a standard breakfast on the 27th

RELAY FOR LIFE We completed our first year as a team sponsor in the Fernley Relay for

Life and everyone in the lodge can be proud of your Moose Lodge team.

This is a major fund raising event of the American Cancer Society each

year and the money goes toward the treatment and cure of cancer. The

final tallies are not in yet, but so far our team raised over $2,300.00. Cap-

tained by Jemel Mueller, 35 of our men & women joined the team and

many more helped out in many different ways. We are all proud of the

way they represented our fraternity.

I also want to recognize our corporate sponsors who helped us have a

really awesome raffle: Big R Stores of Fernley, Big 5 Sporting Goods of

Fallon, Patagonia of Reno, Family Dollar of Lovelock and Sportsman’s

Warehouse of Reno. I urge you to patronize these stores and let them

know how much we all appreciate their support of our lodge.

We also received a certificate recognizing our selection as the “Best New

Team” at the relay. Way to go Moose Family!

Finally, I would like to introduce you to our new bartender

Doris. She is covering a couple of Sundays a month. I would like

to say thank you to Doris and Cary for volunteering to bartend

so I’m not working 7 days a week.

I would also like to Thank Bill, Tamara, James, and Norm for

always volunteering to cook a meal or two during each month.

Everyone is welcome to cook all you have to do is let the governor

know and he will gladly put your name on the calendar. I would

also like to thank Mac for all the hard work he puts into the lodge.

So please if you see one of these people I have mentioned tell them
