• When oxygen levels are low, cells can’t use aerobic processes, like cellular respiration.
• Instead, they switch to anaerobic processes to make ATP (energy).
• Glycolysis is anaerobic, but it needs to recharge after each cycle.

• After glycolysis breaks glucose into 2 pyruvates, fermentation happens.
