PRELIM TASK REVIEW.

The task

• The task was to create a front cover and a contents page for a 6th form magazine.

Front cover.

• Masthead - My masthead was FSL which means Fallibroome sixth learning. I used a serif font, size 30 with a green colour that relates to the colours of the school.

• Key image - The shot size is a long/medium shot .The image was taken in the studio but I cut out the image and put it on a blank background. I used high key lighting. I did not have an appropriate photograph so I used a photo that would be appropriate for my music magazine.

• Key cover line - The key cover line helps to anchor the image as the costume is relevant to the genre of music in the cover line which is grime.

• Language - The language used is formal as the point of the magazine is mainly to inform.

• Other features - My cover lines use a hierarchy of font size and mainly follows and green and black colour scheme apart from the blue circles which are used to make the other cover lines stand out.

Contents page.

• Brand identity - I have repeated the FSL on the contents page. Also the contents page uses the same colour scheme.

• Layout - The contents page is set in columns followed by images to the side.

• Text - The text is all in san serif font and follows a hierarchy of font sizes.

• Images – I have used three images, firstly an image of the interview (Key cover line). An image from one of my feature articles and an image of Fallibroomes 6th form centre.

Construction.

• What Worked Well - • Logo/masthead stands out. • Colour scheme.• Circles stand out.

• Even Better If -• Change info on menu script.• Centre text in circles.• Make text easier to read.

Using Photoshop.

• I found the process of using Photoshop fairly easy the only thing I found difficult was copying the image into my front cover work. I changed the sizes of the blue circles so they would fit better. The tools I used were the crop tool and the shapes tool. I could overcome some issues by looking at tutorials to seethe correct way on how to do them.

Audience feedback.

• EBI• Text in the centre of circle.• Different coloured circles.• Better range of fonts.

Key learning points.

• I have learnt that I need to learn how to use more tools on Photoshop.

• I will need more images.• To find a better colour scheme that is relevant

to the topic.
