President’s report A.K.A.

Hi all.

Here we are, a new year and a

new Executive team for 2020.

I am having a flashback to years ago when our AMAC membership was much smaller and most of those members owned only classic rides, and I was President of this amazing car club. I enjoyed that time as President and look forward to working with our Executive team

this upcoming year.

I would like to thank Scott Thom-son for his dedication and commitment as President of our car club, and thanks to Stepha-nie in the role of Vice President for her new ideas and many hours of coordinating events. Their leader-ship was certainly appreciated by all. Thanks to our other Executive members that stepped down this year and to the members that have

taken on new roles.

This years Executive welcomes Don Horn as our new Vice Presi-dent, and Julie Turcotte and Ian Butterworth as our new Directors

at Large.

2020....we know that things always change, yet the basic principles remain the same, Mustangs and Fords are our passion. The blue oval line of products that is the glue for our membership and brings together an amazing group of people to share time with and

establish lasting friendships.

Please join me with a big thank you to Cam Clark Ford as they really stepped up as our major sponsor and donated 1600 square feet of flooring for our club World

of Wheels displays.

Many years ago we wanted our World Of Wheels club display to stand out from the other clubs, so we purchased several cases of 1'x1' floor tiles. Wade Besler then made the wooden carry cases for the tiles that we stored in the AMAC shed. Each February we would bring out our strong-est members to load these very heavy boxes into the trailer for the show. Jean-Yves was always more than happy to add to his workout and load these tiles for us, until he moved back to the sunny west coast. We decided that these tiles had to go and they were sold on Kijiji by Ken Werner and funds re-turned to the club. The donation from Cam Clark Ford is now ready to début at our 2020 display, and we look forward to working with

them for years to come.

The World of Wheels is moving along under the direction of Steve Rubio, Chris Cook, and Gary Chomiak. There have been many builds and lots of attention to the theme of this year's display. Steve will be asking for members to volunteer to assist during the show for short shifts from February

21st to 23rd, if you haven't done

this before give it a try this year.

Can you believe that a 52 year old rusty and dented green Mustang sold for 3.4 Million dollars US at Mecum Auction in January? The fact that Steve McQueen sat in this car and drove it without smashing it up like he did the other duplicate car, makes it hard to conceive that someone would actually pay that much money to own it. This is of course is the "Hero car" from one of the greatest chase scenes ever filmed, it was hidden from the public for many decades and con-sidered the Holy Grail of the auto-motive world. The star of the movie Bullet was a 1968 Mustang in Highland green paint, 390 GT V8 power plant with a 4 speed transmission, (No automatic trans-missions here, sorry Gary!!). Steve McQueen as the co-star of this 1968 film (where the best part of the movie is the chase scene) was upstaged by a Mus-tang, ok I can see why it is worth

that much.

Looking forward into 2020, we al-ready have many club events planned for this year and I know we are all hoping for more sunny

warm days than last year.

I am looking forward to seeing you

soon.

Jim

2016 - Our Fifth Mustang a 1968 GT

Fastback

Bought this 1968 GT Fastback from an

AMAC member in 2016. The car was an

older restoration but was very will done.

We did a little TLC to get it to our stand-

ards. This was a gorges fastback and a

great curser. It was sold to a car guy in

2017.

2016 - Our Sixth Mustang a 2005 GT Convertible

Bought this Legend Lime

GT in the spring of 2016.

The previous owner had

done a lot of mods, so it

was a turnkey for us. We

put over 12,000 km on

her by driving Route 66

from High River to Santa

Monica in the fall of

2016. Great touring car.

Sold the car in 2017.

2019 - Our seventh (& current) Mustang a 2019 Shelby GTH

We factory ordered a 2019

Mustang GT from Ford and had it

shipped to Dale Adams for the

Shelby GTH (Heritage edition)

modifications. This is the first

2019 Shelby GTH in Canada and

since there have been 2 others.

In the USA you can only buy one

from a Ford dealership. Pushing

just shy of 500 horse power with-

out a super charger, she is one

incredible driver.

Big thanks to Don for this fun story, he is one solid Mustang guy!

DRAGSTRIP MEMORIES SHOW

HAMILTON ON — Ken Werner

On April 14 I took a red eye flight, leaving Calgary at 12:30 am, arriv-ing in Toronto at 6:30 am local time. I rented a car and drove to Hamilton, arriving at the Warplane Heritage Museum about an hour before the doors opened. I took the time to go and have breakfast

and a couple cups of coffee.

When I finally walked through the open doors, there, front and center was the display I went to see. (insert pic 1) There was the Barrie Poole sitting at a table signing anything anyone wanted. Beside him to his right was the original restored '71 Mercury Coment Pro Stock

car. It is now owned by Ivan Landry From Windsor Ontario.

To Barrie's left is the replica Pinto Pro Stock owned by Bob Maxwell.

I sat and talked to Barrie for about 45 minutes, getting answers to a list of questions I brought with me about the '69 Mustang coupe Su-per Stock car he drove. I also had him sign a couple posters, a T shirt, my Sandy Elliot '68 Mustang die cast, and a '69 Mustang glove box door. He was very accommodating and gladly signed many things for anyone that stopped by. Barrie's wife Alice invited me to come see Barrie's basement with all his memorabilia...including 2

Wallys, next time I get down to Niagara.

In Picture 1, Barrie is seated, Bob Maxwell is in the white T shirt, with

Ivan Landry and myself.

I spent about 4 hours wandering, looking at pics from St. Thomas Dragway, Windsor Dragway(now gone), and

Dragway Park in Cayuga (now Toronto Motorsports Park).

I also met up with Dave "Too Tall" Turner, whom I had last talked to in about 1982 when I was a member of

SAAC. He had his current rife on display, a '72 Mustang.

The show was great and I highly recommend it as well as the

great setting of the museum.

Thanks to Ken Werner for this story

AMAC took home the club participation award in

2008 in Saskatoon. We’re “running back” to

Saskatoon this year, let’s do it again!

Our 2009 Poker Run

was a big event that

year. We had about

30 cars participate.

Our picnic was in

George Lane

Memorial Park.

AMAC received this nice letter from the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter

through our liaison Bob Walker. Bob thought it would be nice to share it with all of

you. This is for the donations made from our Christmas Mixer, AMAC also donated

over $1100 throughout 2019 from proceeds of 50/50 draws and the Presidential

BBQ. Thanks AMAC for your generosity!
