End of semester is almost over but LDAC is around the corner

and it will catch up too you.

Every year thousand of cadets participate of the

summer Leadership Development and Assessment Course.

This year it will take place at the home for cadets, Fort Knox,

Kentucky.

One of the question that is always asked to MSIII is

how do you feel? Are you ready for LDAC? Every cadet

always answers I am nervous.

LDAC is nothing to be scared about. You have trained

your whole MSIII year to go and you have be trained well, by

cadres that have years of experience in the Army and

deployments and MSIV that went through not to far ago.

But even if all that happens certainly the MSIII will

always say I am nervous.

LDAC besides putting all the skills that you learned in

every weekend LAB, MSIII class and extra studying with

your battle buddies to the test, you will learn more than what

you knew.

One thing that was said is you are never ready for

what will come but it all depends on how you take it and

what you make of it.

At LDAC you will learn about helping others, having a

new family and enjoying the little things in life.

You don’t have to worry about anything once you get

to LDAC, do things right, talk with other cadets and have

your packing list squared away the rest will be too easy.

From being just a squad to a being a platoon on a recon

mission.

This pass January 31st Taino-Warriors Battalion conducted training for this year MS3's that

are preparing them selves for LDAC 2014 with multiple classes that relates to the Patrolling phase

of LDAC, such as call for fire and patrolling movement technics.

Most cadets were unaware of the procedure that pertains to call for fire in a patrols mission

and were enthusiastic about learning how to go through the steps. Mr. Rivera a former 1st Sgt with

20 plus years of military experience and Sgt. Zambrano from a Field Artillery background gave the

class with great detail and proficiency.

The experience of the cadre that gave these classes came to be very efficient to the

development and training, not only on their field of expertise but also to leadership, abiding in the

example of leading.

From Being a Squad to a Platoon.

Cadets approaching to the objective.

The last lab of Februarys was conducted at Cayey ROTC. During this lab MSIIIs

preformed platoon tactics, starting with receiving the mission, issuing a warning order to

executing and completing the mission.

In each mission they encountered SAPA Force (the enemy at the LDAC) played by MSIVs

and proceed with the appropriate battle drills and enemy prisoner of war search.

Here they learned to be situational awareness at ever moment. Cadets also learned the

appropriate way to conduct a patrol base.

In other hand the MSIIIs did a 4-mile ruck march through the city of Cayey. Afterwards

they were up for a Drill and Ceremony Challenge where 2nd squad 1st platoon won with a 83 score

in their performance.

Metro Company pays a visit to the Roses Day Care, Santurce during January’s community service.

Once there they joined children from 3 to 5 years old in some fun and learning time.

Metros read, played and draw with the Roses children. Cadets were greatly appreciated for planning fun event for the kids.

During February community service Rio Company, helped out during one of the biggest events conducted annually in Puerto Rico, Worlds Best 10K.

The cadets filled more than a thousand cups of water to be handed out in the oasis station during the run.

Many of the runners were greatly appreciated “this was the best station I went through today,” said a runner.

Cadets were giving to the community and also motivating the runners.

Back in the days when females couldn’t join the Army the ROTC so the Rio Piedras had something called the Sponsors or “Madrinas” in Spanish.

A sponsor was a social group that united females to help and serve ROTC Cadets. They were in charge of making activities, do community service and having social gatherings prepared for the cadets
