High Performance Elastomeric Membrane Cap Sheet March 2018

Description

Roof Flex Pro S6 Mineral Cap Sheet is a range of polyester based

elastomeric roofing membranes, coated with a high quality polymer

modified SBS bitumen coating. Roof Flex Pro S6 is available in two

versions, one for installation by the traditional pour & roll method and

one by torch-on application. The underside of the torch-on version is

protected by Polyflam a special polyethylene film which melts upon

torching and the pour & roll version is finished with a fine sand surface.

In both versions the top surface is protected by a uniform layer of slate

chippings and has a lateral selvedge for overlapping making

application fast and secure. Roof Flex Pro S6 membranes provide

reliable and effective flat roof waterproofing, combining the qualities of

excellent performance, good handling characteristics and economy.

Roof Flex Pro S6 membranes exhibit excellent dimensional and

mechanical stability making them suitable as part of a built-up system,

or as a refurbishment overlay to existing asphalt or selected compatible

surfaced membranes. Features and Benefits:-

• Available in both torch-on and pour & roll applications • Strong rot resistant polyester base • Flexible SBS elastomeric modified bitumen • Low temperature flexibility -20°C • Cost effective performance • 20 year System Warranty available

Product Information The pour & roll version of Roof Flex Pro S6 mineral

slate surfaced cap sheet incorporates a non-woven

polyester base, coated with SBS modified bitumen,

providing a very high degree of strength and

durability. Available with a grey, black or tweed

slate finish and surfaced on the underside with fine

sand. For exposed use and requiring no further

finishing on site, however, additional surface

protection may be necessary on trafficked areas.

Please consult the Polyglass technical department. The torch-on version of Roof Flex Pro S6 mineral

slate surfaced cap sheet incorporates a non-woven

polyester base, coated with SBS modified bitumen,

providing a very high degree of strength and

durability. Available with a grey or black slate finish

and surfaced on the underside with flame

dispersible polyethylene film (Polyflam). For

exposed use and requiring no further finishing on

site, however, additional surface protection may be

necessary on trafficked areas. Please consult the

Polyglass technical department. Application Roof Flex Pro S6 can be used as the cap sheet

onto suitable pour and roll or torch-on underlays

as part of a built-up system or as a

refurbishment overlay to existing asphalt or

selected compatible surfaced membranes.

Roof Flex Pro S6 roofing membranes should be

installed in accordance with BS 8217: 2005 Code

of Practice for reinforced bitumen membranes for

roofing and to Polyglass specifications and

recommendations. The application should follow

the general good practice for roofing membranes.

Care must be taken when applying the Roof Flex

Pro S6 torch-on version in close proximity to

combustible materials, decorative coatings and

heat sensitive materials. Apply the torch-on version of Roof Flex Pro S6 by

melting the heat dispersible backing and coating to

create a molten flow in front of the roll. The flame

of the torch should be applied at the low point

where the roll meets the underlay, rolling the

membrane forward as the film and bitumen melts.

Side joints in the sheets should be fully bonded

and formed using the selvedge. NB. A bead of

bitumen must exude from all lap joints to ensure a

seal. In the pour & roll version, hot bitumen is

poured in front of the membrane which is then

unrolled into the bitumen, spreading it to give a

continuous coating for the full width of the roll.

Excess bitumen at the laps may be removed to

maintain the appearance. To facilitate this, the

preceding layer of mineral roofing is ‘wetted’ to

prevent adhesion of the excess. Other Products Full product literature, health & safety and

technical sheets are available as downloads or

on request from our Head Office, detailed below.

Product Information Roof Flex Pro Vapour Control layers are high

performance membranes, incorporating an aluminium

core, reinforced with glass fibre and coated with an

advanced, modified bitumen compound, providing a

durable and reliable vapour control layer in areas of high

humidity in warm roof applications. Roof Flex Pro TT has

an upper and lower face finished with Polyflam, a special

polyethylene film which melts upon torching. Roof Flex

Pro TS has an upper face finished with a fine sand and a

lower face finished with Polyflam, a special polyethylene

film which melts upon torching.

Roof Flex Pro SA is a high quality self-adhesive

bituminous vapour control membrane made with

ADESO® technology, the unique self-adhesive compound

system from Polyglass SpA. Roof Flex Pro SA is made

from a special elastomeric (SBS) self-adhesive compound

reinforced with an aluminium foil. This reinforcement

allows the product excellent dimensional stability, good

mechanical characteristics, a complete vapour barrier and

excellent on-site capability. Roof Flex Pro SA has an

upper face finished with a fine sand and the lower face is

protected by a mono-silicone coated polyethylene film

which is removed when the membrane is applied.

Application Roof Flex Pro membranes are designed to be used as

vapour control layers in warm roof construction and as

part of a built-up system in new or refurbishment work. Roof Flex Pro roofing membranes should be

installed in accordance with 8217: 2005, Code of

Practice for Reinforced Bitumen Membranes for

Roofing, and to Polyglass specifications and

recommendations. The application should follow the

general good practices for bituminous membranes.

Care must be taken when applying Roof Flex Pro

torch-on membranes in close proximity to

combustible materials, decorative coatings and heat

sensitive materials.

Apply Roof Flex Pro torch-on roofing by melting the heat

dispersible backing and coating to create a molten flow in

front of the roll. The flame of the torch should be applied at

the low point where the roll meets the underlay. As the film

and bitumen melts, roll the roofing forward. Side joints in

the sheets should be fully bonded and formed using the

75mm selvedge. NB. A bead of bitumen must exude from

all lap joints to ensure a seal. The surface to which Roof

Flex Pro membranes are to be applied should be smooth,

clean and dry and should be primed with a coating of

Polyprimer HP 45. The surface to which Roof Flex Pro SA is to be applied

should be smooth, clean and dry and should be primed with

a coating of Polyprimer HP 45. Roof Flex Pro SA should be

unrolled ensuring that the alignment is correct. Remove half

of the mono-silicone coated release film at the lower end of

the roll, fasten the sheet, and then remove the other half of

the film, taking care to avoid the formation of air bubbles or

wrinkles. When laying on a pitched roof, apply the rolls from

the top downwards. At the roof’s ridge line, the membrane

must be folded back 20-30 cm and then fastened

mechanically. Whenever roof pitch is greater than 30%, the

membrane must be fastened mechanically also at the

overlap points (in accordance with BS standards), in order

to avoid slipping. Make sure that any fixings are completely

covered by the next layer’s selvedge strip. Extra attention

must be paid to the overlapping of the sheets. We

recommend using shears, tile cutters, pressing rollers and

leister hot air guns. The product must never be laid at

temperatures of less than 5°C and always only in good

weather. Roof Flex Pro SA must never be left exposed to

inclement weather.
