The Hail Mary Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with Thee; Blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Ave Maria, grátia plena. Dóminus tecum; benedicta tu in muliéribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatóribus nunc et in hora mortis nostræ. Amen

Oratio Fatimae (The Fatima Prayer) O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. Amen. Domine Iesu, dimitte nobis debita nostra, salva nos ab igne inferiori, perduc in caelum omnes animas, praesertim eas, quae misericordiae tuae maxime indigent.

Hail, Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to Thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley, of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of Thy womb, Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. V. Pray for us oh Holy Mother of God. R. That we will be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Salve Regina, Mater misericordiae. O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.

V. Ora pro nobis, Sancta Dei Genitrix. R. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

The Apostles' Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He arose again; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, sanctorum communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam aeternam. Amen. The Angelus

Act of Contrition (other version) O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.

The Confiteor I confess to almighty God, to the saints, and to all the Saints, and to thee, brother, that I have sinned in thought, in speech, in work, in the purity of mind and of the body. Therefore, I beseech you, pray for me. Confiteor Deo omnipotenti, istis Sanctis et omnibus Sanctis et tibi frater, quia peccavi in cogitatione, in locutione, in opere, in pollutione mentis et corporis. Ideo precor te, ora pro me.

prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day. Grant that they may be all according to Your will and for Your greater glory. Keep me from all sin and evil, and may Your grace be with me always and with those I love. Amen.

Evening Offering I adore You, my God, and I love You with all my heart. I thank You for having created me, for having made me a Christian, and for having preserved me this day. Pardon me for the evil I have done today. If I have done anything good, be pleased to accept it. Protect me while I take my rest and deliver me from all dangers. May Your grace be always with me. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus O Sacred Heart of Jesus, to Thee I consecrate and offer up my

person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honouring and glorifying Thee. This is my irrevocable will, to belong entirely to Thee, and to do all for Thy love, renouncing with my whole heart all that can displease Thee.

I take Thee, O Sacred Heart, for the sole object of my love, the protection of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy of my frailty and inconstancy, the reparation for all the defects of my life, and my secure refuge at the hour of my death. Be Thou, O Most Merciful Heart, my justification before God Thy Father, and screen me from His anger which I have so justly merited. I fear all from my own weakness and malice, but placing my entire confidence in Thee, O Heart of Love, I hope all from Thine infinite Goodness. Annihilate in me all that can displease or resist Thee. Imprint Thy pure love so deeply in my heart that I may never forget Thee or be separated from Thee.

I beseech Thee, through Thine infinite Goodness, grant that my

name be engraved upon Thy Heart, for in this I place all my happiness and all my glory, to live and to die as one of Thy devoted servants.

Amen.

4 DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET

According to Roman Catholic tradition, the chaplet may be said at any time, but it is said especially on Divine Mercy Sunday and Fridays at 3:00 PM. Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Divine Mercy Sunday Plenary indulgence is granted under the following conditions on Divine Mercy Sunday “I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My Mercy.”(Diary 1109)

- Sacramental Confession (the confession may take place some days before),

- Holy Communion, to pray for the intentions of the pope (an Our Father and Hail Mary is minimum requirement), when the faithful detached from any sin, even venial, either:

- In any church or chapel take part in the prayers and devotions

in honour of the Divine Mercy. - In the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, exposed or reserved

in the tabernacle, say an Our Father and Creed. In both cases, adding a devout prayer to the Merciful Lord (i.e.

"Merciful Jesus, I Trust in you.")

Special dispositions Additionally, for the faithful who, for a justified reason beyond their control, are unable to go to church or chapel, may obtain forgiveness with the recitation of one Our Father and Creed before a devout image of Jesus adding "Merciful Jesus, I Trust in you." surpassing аll joy аnd аll desire, Salvation аnd Hope оf аll sinners, Who hast proved that Thou hast nо greater desire than tо bе among men, even assuming human nature аt thе fullness оf time fоr thе love оf men, recall аll thе sufferings Thou hast endured from thе instant оf Thy conception, аnd especially during Thy Passion, аѕ іt wаѕ decreed аnd ordained from аll eternity іn thе Divine plan.

Remember, O Lord, that during thе Last Supper with Thy

disciples, having washed their feet, Thou gavest them Thy Most Precious Body аnd Blood, аnd while аt thе same time thou didst sweetly console them, Thou didst foretell them Thy coming Passion.

Remember thе sadness аnd bitterness which Thou didst

experience іn Thy Soul аѕ Thou Thyself bore witness saying: "My Soul іѕ sorrowful even unto death."

Remember аll thе fear, anguish аnd pain that Thou didst suffer іn Thy delicate Body before thе torment оf thе Crucifixion, when, after having prayed three times, bathed іn a sweat оf blood, Thou wast betrayed bу Judas, Thy disciple, arrested bу thе people оf a nation Thou hadst chosen аnd elevated, accused bу false witnesses, unjustly judged bу three judges during thе flower оf Thy youth аnd during thе solemn Paschal season.

Remember that Thou wast despoiled оf Thy garments аnd

clothed іn those оf derision; that Thy Face аnd Eyes were veiled, that Thou wast buffeted, crowned with thorns, a reed placed іn Thy Hands, that Thou wаѕ crushed with blows аnd overwhelmed with affronts аnd outrages. In memory оf аll these pains аnd sufferings which Thou didst endure before Thy Passion оn thе Cross, grant mе before mу death true contrition, a sincere аnd entire confession, worthy satisfaction аnd thе remission оf аll mу sins. Amen.

Second Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! True liberty оf angels, Paradise оf delights, remember

thе horror аnd sadness which Thou didst endure when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, аnd bу thousands оf insults, spits, blows, lacerations аnd other unheard-of-cruelties, tormented Thee аt will. In consideration оf these torments аnd insulting words, I beseech Thee, O mу Saviour, tо deliver mе from аll mу enemies, visible аnd invisible, аnd tо bring me, under Thy protection, tо thе perfection оf eternal salvation. Amen.

Third Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Creator оf Heaven аnd earth Whom nothing can

encompass оr limit, Thou Who dost enfold аnd hold аll under Thy Loving power, remember thе very bitter pain Thou didst suffer

when thе Jews nailed Thy Sacred Hands аnd Feet tо thе Cross bу blow after blow with big blunt nails, аnd nоt finding Thee іn a pitiable enough state tо satisfy their rage, they enlarged Thy Wounds, аnd added pain tо pain, аnd with indescribable cruelty stretched Thy Body оn thе Cross, pulled Thee from аll sides, thus dislocating Thy Limbs. I beg оf Thee, O Jesus, bу thе memory оf this most Loving suffering оf thе Cross, tо grant mе thе grace tо fear Thee аnd tо Love Thee. Amen.

Fourth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Heavenly Physician, raised aloft оn thе Cross tо heal

оur wounds with Thine, remember thе bruises which Thou didst suffer аnd thе weakness оf аll Thy Members which were distended tо such a degree that never wаѕ there pain like unto Thine. From thе crown оf Thy Head tо thе Soles оf Thy Feet there wаѕ nоt оnе spot оn Thy Body that wаѕ nоt іn torment, аnd yet, forgetting аll Thy sufferings, Thou didst nоt cease tо pray tо Thy Heavenly Father fоr Thy enemies, saying: "Father forgive them fоr they know nоt what they do."

Through this great Mercy, аnd іn memory оf this suffering, grant that thе remembrance оf Thy Most Bitter Passion mау effect іn uѕ a perfect contrition аnd thе remission оf аll оur sins. Amen.

Fifth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Mirror оf eternal splendor, remember thе sadness

which Thou experienced, when contemplating іn thе light оf Thy Divinity thе predestination оf those whо would bе saved bу thе merits оf Thy Sacred Passion, Thou didst ѕее аt thе same time, thе great multitude оf reprobates whо would bе damned fоr their sins, аnd Thou didst complain bitterly оf those hopeless lost аnd unfortunate sinners. Through this abyss оf compassion аnd pity, аnd especially through thе goodness which Thou displayed tо thе good thief when Thou saidst tо him: "This day, thou shalt bе with

Me іn Paradise." I beg оf Thee, O Sweet Jesus, that аt thе hour оf mу death, Thou wilt show mе mercy. Amen.

Sixth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Beloved аnd most desirable King, remember thе grief

Thou didst suffer, when naked аnd like a common criminal, Thou wаѕ fastened аnd raised оn thе Cross, when аll Thy relatives аnd friends abandoned Thee, except Thy Beloved Mother, whо remained close tо Thee during Thy agony аnd whom Thou didst entrust tо Thy faithful disciple when Thou saidst tо Mary: "Woman, behold thу son!" аnd tо St. John: "Son, behold thу Mother!"

I beg оf Thee O mу Saviour, bу thе sword оf sorrow which

pierced thе soul оf Thy holy Mother, tо have compassion оn mе іn аll mу affliction аnd tribulations, both corporal аnd spiritual, аnd tо assist mе іn аll mу trials, аnd especially аt thе hour оf mу d eath. Amen.

Seventh Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Inexhaustible Fountain оf compassion, Who bу a

profound gesture оf Love, said from thе Cross: "I thirst!" suffered from thе thirst fоr thе salvation оf thе human race. I beg оf Thee O mу Saviour, tо inflame іn оur hearts thе desire tо tend toward perfection іn аll оur acts; аnd tо extinguish іn uѕ thе concupiscence оf thе flesh аnd thе ardour оf worldly desires. Amen.

Eighth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Sweetness оf hearts, delight оf thе spirit, bу thе

bitterness оf thе vinegar аnd gall which Thou didst taste оn thе Cross fоr Love оf us, grant uѕ thе grace tо receive worthily Thy Precious Body аnd Blood during оur life аnd аt thе hour оf оur death, that they mау serve аѕ a remedy аnd consolation fоr оur souls. Amen.

Ninth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Royal virtue, joy оf thе mind, recall thе pain Thou

didst endure when, plunged іn аn ocean оf bitterness аt thе approach оf death, insulted, outraged bу thе Jews, Thou didst cry оut іn a loud voice that Thou wаѕ abandoned bу Thy Father, saying: "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

Through this anguish, I beg оf Thee, O mу Saviour, nоt tо

abandon mе іn thе terrors аnd pains оf mу death. Amen. Tenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Who аrt thе beginning аnd end оf аll things, life аnd

virtue, remembers that fоr оur sakes Thou wаѕ plunged іn аn abyss оf suffering from thе soles оf Thy Feet tо thе crown оf Thy Head. In consideration оf thе enormity оf Thy Wounds, teach mе tо keep, through pure love, Thy Commandments, whose wау іѕ wide аnd easy fоr those whо love Thee. Amen.

Eleventh Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Deep abyss оf mercy, I beg оf Thee, іn memory оf Thy

Wounds which penetrated tо thе very marrow оf Thy Bones аnd tо thе depth оf Thy being, tо draw me, a miserable sinner,

overwhelmed bу mу offenses, away from sin аnd tо hide mе from Thy Face justly irritated against me, hide mе іn Thy wounds, until Thy anger аnd just indignation shall have passed away. Amen.

Twelfth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Mirror оf Truth, symbol оf unity, bond оf charity,

remember thе multitude оf wounds with which Thou wast afflicted from head tо foot, torn аnd reddened bу thе spilling оf Thy adorable Blood. O great аnd universal pain, which Thou didst suffer іn Thy virginal flesh fоr love оf us! Sweetest Jesus! What іѕ there that Thou couldst have done fоr uѕ which Thou has nоt done!

May thе fruit оf Thy suffering bе renewed іn mу soul bу thе

faithful remembrance оf Thy Passion, аnd mау Thy love increase іn mу heart each day, until I ѕее Thee іn eternity: Thou Who аrt thе treasure оf every real good аnd every joy, which I beg Thee tо grant me, O Sweetest Jesus, іn heaven. Amen.

Thirteenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Strong Lion, Immortal аnd Invincible King, remember

thе pain which Thou didst endure when аll Thy strength, both moral аnd physical, wаѕ entirely exhausted, Thou didst bow Thy Head, saying: "It іѕ consummated!" Through this anguish аnd grief, I beg оf Thee Lord Jesus, tо have mercy оn mе аt thе hour оf mу death when mу mind will bе greatly troubled аnd mу soul will bе іn anguish. Amen.

Fourteenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary...

O Jesus! Only Son оf thе Father, Splendor аnd Figure оf His

Substance, remember thе simple аnd humble recommendation Thou didst make оf Thy Soul tо Thy Eternal Father, saying: "Father, into Thy Hands I commend My Spirit!" And with Thy Body аll torn, аnd Thy Heart Broken, аnd thе bowels оf Thy Mercy open tо redeem us, Thou didst Expire. By this Precious Death, I beg оf Thee O King оf Saints, comfort mе аnd help mе tо resist thе devil, thе flesh аnd thе world, ѕо that being dead tо thе world I mау live fоr Thee alone. I beg оf Thee аt thе hour оf mу death tо receive me, a pilgrim аnd аn exile returning tо Thee. Amen.

Fifteenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! True аnd fruitful Vine! Remember thе abundant

outpouring оf Blood which Thou didst ѕо generously shed from Thy Sacred Body аѕ juice from grapes іn a wine press. From Thy Side, pierced with a lance bу a soldier, blood аnd water issued forth until there wаѕ nоt left іn Thy Body a single drop, аnd finally, like a bundle оf myrrh lifted tо thе top оf thе Cross Thy delicate Flesh wаѕ destroyed, thе very Substance оf Thy Body withered, аnd thе Marrow оf Thy Bones dried up.

Through this bitter Passion аnd through thе outpouring оf Thy

Precious Blood, I beg оf Thee, O Sweet Jesus, tо receive mу soul when I аm іn mу death agony. Amen.

Conclusion O Sweet Jesus! Pierce mу heart ѕо that mу tears оf penitence

аnd love will bе mу bread dау аnd might; mау I bе converted entirely tо Thee, mау mу heart bе Thy perpetual habitation, mау mу conversation bе pleasing tо Thee, аnd mау thе end оf mу life bе ѕо praiseworthy that I mау merit Heaven аnd there with Thy saints, praise Thee forever.

6 SAINT MICHAEL AND ANGELS

St Michael Prayer Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen. Sáncte Míchael Archángele, defénde nos in proélio, cóntra nequítiam et insídias diáboli ésto præsídium. Ímperet ílli Déus, súpplices deprecámur: tuque, prínceps milítiæ cæléstis, Sátanam aliósque spíritus malígnos, qui ad perditiónem animárum pervagántur in múndo, divína virtúte, in inférnum detrúde. Ámen.

The Chaplet of Saint Michael The history of this Chaplet originates from Antonia d'Astonac, who in a vision of St. Michael was told to honour him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honour would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life.

Amen. Say one Our Father in honour of each of the following leading

Angels: St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael and our Guardian Angel.

Concluding prayers: O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the

heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of

Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises. Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness

and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of

Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

7 FIRST NINE FRIDAYS

This devotion consists of attending Holy Mass on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. Jesus promises the following according to the visions of Saint Mary Margaret Alacoque.

1. I will give them all of the graces necessary for their state of life.

2. I will establish peace in their houses. 3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions. 4. I will be their strength during life and above all during

death. 5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings. 6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite

ocean of mercy. 7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent. 8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection. 9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be

set up and honoured. 10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened

hearts. 11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their

names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out. 12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My

8 FIRST FIVE SATURDAYS

Background Mary appeared in a vision to a 14 year old girl called Lucia Santos, who was also one of the three Fatima visionaries. Mary requested the institution of the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the month in reparation to her Immaculate Heart.

"Look, my daughter, at my Heart encircled by these thorns with

which men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, strive to console Me, and so I announce: I promise to assist at the hour of death with the grace necessary for salvation all those who, with the intention of making reparation to Me, will, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the beads, and keep Me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary."

Our Lady promised to grant great graces, especially at the hour

of death, in particular the salvation of the soul, for the believer who for Five Consecutive First Saturdays of Month (5 Saturdays in 5 months) receives Holy Communion and practices the following exercises as an Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Queen of Heaven:

Sacramental confession The confession can take place days before or even after the Holy

Page 41: Favourite prayers (2016) ebook

Communion is received, but the Holy Communion shall be received with dignity, in a state of Grace, keeping in mind that Jesus is physically present in the Eucharist. The Intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary may be kept to oneself; it is not necessary to notify the confessor priest.

Receive Holy Communion The Holy Communion has to be received within the 24 hours of the first Saturday of the Month. Attendance to Holy Mass is optional. Receiving Holy Communion as part of this devotion must be consciously intended as an Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart. The devotee need not tell anyone else, but keep it in mind. To avoid omitting the Intention every Saturday, the General Intention for the devotion of the Act of Reparation can be mentally or outspokenly stated before starting the First Saturdays (or in between).

If a person has a valid reason not to attend Mass (Masses not

available on Saturdays, difficult mobilisation, other major event), the devotee may consult a priest about receiving Communion privately or on another day with the intention of making this Communion as part of the devotion.

The Rosary The Rosary must also be recited with the intention of making reparation.

15 Minute Meditation A 15 Minute Meditation is made on the Mysteries of the Rosary

This Meditation should also be done in an Act of Reparation to

the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Rosary Meditations can be done on all 15 of the mysteries or fewer but must last for 15 minutes. This meditation is in addition to the recitation of the Rosary. It can be done alone or in a group and with or without the aid of sacred scripture.

Prayer of Thanksgiving Divine Infant Jesus, I know You love me and would never leave me. I thank You for Your close Presence in my life.

Miraculous Infant, I believe in Your promise of peace, blessings, and freedom from want. I place every need and care in Your hands.

Lord Jesus, may I always trust in Your generous mercy and love. I want to honour and praise You, now and forever. Amen.

Novena to St. Jude Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honours and invokes you universally, as the patron of difficult cases, of things almost despaired of, Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone.

Intercede with God for me that He bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly -

(make your request here) - and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever.

I promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour granted me by God and to always honour you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen

Prayer to Saint Joseph Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God. I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Prayer of Saint Francis Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

Post Communion Prayer Anima Christi (Soul of my Saviour) Soul of my Saviour sanctify my breast, Body of Christ, be thou my saving guest, Blood of my Saviour, bathe me in thy tide, wash me with waters gushing from thy side. Strength and protection may thy passion be, O blessèd Jesus, hear and answer me; deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me, so shall I never, never part from thee. Guard and defend me from the foe malign, in death's dread moments make me only thine; call me and bid me come to thee on high where I may praise thee with thy saints for ay.

1 PRINCIPAL TRUTHS OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

The Ten Commandments 1. I Am the Lord your God; you shall have no other gods

before Me. 2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in

vain. 3. Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day. 4. Honour your father and your mother. 5. You shall not kill. 6. You shall not commit adultery. 7. You shall not steal. 8. You shall not bear false witness against your

neighbour. 9. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife. 10. You shall not covet your neighbour’s goods.

The Three Theological virtues 1. Faith Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe all that He has revealed to us and through the Holy Church. 2. Hope Hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life, placing our trust in Christ and not in our own strength but in the assistance of the graces given by the Holy Spirit. 3. Charity Charity is the theological virtue by which we love God above all things, and our neighbour as ourselves for the love of God. Charity is the superior of all the virtues. Seven sacraments of the Church 1. Baptism 2. Confirmation 3. The Holy Eucharist 4. Reconciliation (also known as Penance) 5. Anointing of the sick 6. Holy Orders 7. Marriage The Precepts of the Church 1. You shall attend Mass on Sundays and on Holy Days

of Obligation. 2. You shall confess your sins at least once a year, and

receive Holy Communion at least during Easter. 3. You shall keep holy the Holy Days of Obligation. 4. Observe the prescribed days of fasting and abstinence

of meat. 5. The faithful have the duty of providing for the

material needs of the Church, depending on their

ability to do so. The Four Cardinal Virtues 1. Prudence Using practical reason to discern one’s true good and the right means to achieve it. 2. Justice Using firm and constant will to give God and our neighbour’s what is due to them.

3. Fortitude Fortitude is needed to achieve firmness in difficult circumstances and consistency in the pursuit of good. 4. Temperance Required to achieve moderation in the attraction of pleasures to the senses and provide balance in the use of created goods. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit Anyone who deliberately refuses the mercy of God by repenting, rejects the forgiveness of sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. This can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss. This sin blocks the route to Christ and puts that soul outside the range of God’s forgiveness. The sin against the Holy Spirit is thus, the unforgivable sin. Despair of salvation. Presumption of saving oneself without merit or good works. Contestation of known truth. Envy of another’s grace.

of heaven. 2. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be

comforted. 3. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. 4. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for

righteousness, for they will be satisfied. 5. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 6. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. 7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called

children of God. 8. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of

righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of Me. Rejoice and be glad for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:2-12).

Hail, Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to Thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley, of tears.

Amen.

Daily Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I consecrate my entire self to the Most Holy Love of Your Two Hearts. I wish to make reparation for all the sins of the world, including my own. I offer these things for the love of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. I will keep my mind on beauty and turn my thoughts from evil things. I will hold my temper and bear the mistakes of others with love and a forgiving heart. I will admit when I am wrong and ask others to forgive me. I will not show off, but remain humble. I will offer up all my sufferings, sicknesses and hurts and seek God’s Will not my own. I will show appreciation for the kindness and blessings that I receive, and thank God for all things. I will do everything in my life for love of God and I will love others as God has loved me. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, receive the offering and consecration I now make of myself to You.

August Queen of Heaven, Sovereign Queen of Angels, You, who at the beginning received from God the power and mission to crush the head of Satan, We beseech You humbly, send Your legions so that, on Your orders and by Your power, they will track down demons, fight them everywhere, curb their audacity, and plunge them into the abyss. Who can be compared to God? Oh good and tender Mother, You will always be our love and our hope. Oh divine Mother, send the Holy Angels and Archangels to defend me and to keep the cruel enemy far from me. Holy Angels and Archangels defend and protect us. Amen.

Prayer of reparation This is the prayer which a sister of the Poor Clares used to recite daily until her dying day. After her death she appeared to the Abbess of her convent who was praying for her and said “I went directly to heaven because, I paid all my debts and was preserved from Purgatory by reciting this prayer every evening.” Eternal Father, through the hands of Our Lady of Sorrows, I offer You the Sacred Heart of Jesus with all His love, with all His sufferings and with all his merits: To atone for all the sins I have committed today and throughout my past life; Glory be… Eternal Father, through the hands… To purity the good which I did badly today and throughout my past life; Glory be… Eternal Father, through the hands… To compensate for the good that I failed to do today and throughout my past life. Glory be…

Amen.

Commandments of the church e.g. fasting and abstinence during Easter. One should go to confession once a month as requested by Our Lady of Medjugorje. Confession of our sins Begin the confession by asking for the priest’s blessings Bless me, father, for I have sinned. Make the sign of the Cross while the priest blesses you. Then accuse yourself using the following words: Since my last confession which was … ago, when I received absolution and said my penance, I accused myself of … For these and all other sins which I cannot at present remember, I am heartily sorry, and purpose amendment for the future, and humbly ask pardon of God and penance and absolution of you, my spiritual father. The priest may give some advice and instructions, will tell you your penance and grant you absolution, during which you renew interiorly, your contrition. 4 INDULGENCES

An indulgence is the taking away, in whole or in part, of the temporal punishment that a penitent, whose sins are forgiven, has yet to suffer, either in this life or in purgatory. Temporal punishment due for forgiven sins must be suffered either on earth or in purgatory. A partial indulgence remits some of the temporal punishment, but a plenary indulgence remits all the temporal punishment due. Indulgences can also be offered for souls in purgatory.

Indulgences offered for souls in purgatory is a good habit as this may obtain for us many great favours in gratitude and will obtain relief and release for many of their souls.. To gain a plenary indulgence the most common ways are the following:

1. Adoration for at least 30 minutes. 2. At least 30 minutes of reading Sacred Scripture.

Page 118: Favourite prayers (2016) ebook

3. The Stations of the Cross, walking from station to station. The leader of the stations in publicly held stations must move from station to station. No specific prayers are required, but meditation on the passion and death of Christ.

4. Reciting at least 5 decades of the Rosary meditating on the Mysteries with vocal recitation. The rosary needs to be said in a church, family group, religious community or pious association.

5. A plenary indulgence is granted to Christians who spend at least 3 full days at a retreat or mission where spiritual exercises are held.

In addition to the above the following requirements also need to be met.

1. Confession 2. Holy Communion. 3. Prayers for the Pope intentions where one Our Father

and one Hail Mary is sufficient. If one fails to gain the full plenary indulgence by not fulfilling all the requirements, only a partial indulgence will be granted. One plenary indulgence can be gained per day, the exception being at the moment of death, when a person may gain it twice.

5 THE ROSARY

The structure of the Catholic rosary devotion is as follows: The praying of the rosary is started on the short strand, with

the sign of the cross on the Crucifix followed by reciting: The Apostles' Creed, The Lord's Prayer at the first large bead (for the intentions of

the pope), Three Hail Mary on the next three beads (for faith, hope and

charity), The Glory Be to the Father on the next large bead. The praying of the decades then follows. Repeat the following cycle for each mystery: Announce the mystery The Our Father on the large bead The Hail Mary on each of the adjacent ten small beads; The Glory Be to the Father; The Fatima Prayer

6 PRAYERS FOR THE UNBORN

Virgin of Guadalupe, Patroness of unborn children, we implore Your intercession for every child at risk of abortion. Help expectant parents to welcome from God the priceless gift of their child’s life. Console parents who have lost that gift through abortion, and lead them to forgiveness and healing through the Divine Mercy of Your Son. Teach us to cherish and to care for family and friends until God calls them home. Help us never to see others as burdens. Guide our public officials to defend each and every human life through just laws.

Inspire us all to bring our faith into public life, to speak for those who have no voice. We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is Love and Mercy itself. Amen. Prayer for the Unborn Child Almighty God, our Father, You who have given us life and intended us to have it forever, grant us Your blessings. Enlighten our minds to an awareness and to a renewed conviction that all human life is sacred because it is created in Your image and likeness. Help us to teach by word and the example of our lives that life occupies the first place, that human life is precious because it is the gift of God whose love is infinite. Give us the strength to defend human life against every influence or action that threatens or weakens it, as well as the strength to make every life more human in all its aspects. Give us the grace... When the sacredness of life before birth is attacked, to stand up and proclaim that no one ever has the authority to destroy unborn life.

When a child is described as a burden or is looked upon only as a means to satisfy an emotional need, to stand up and insist that every child is a unique and unrepeatable gift of God, a gift of God with a right to a loving and united family. When the institution of marriage is abandoned to human selfishness or reduced to a temporary conditional arrangement that can easily be terminated, to stand up and affirm the indissolubility of the marriage bond. When the value of the family is threatened because of social and economic pressure, to stand up and reaffirm that the family is necessary not only for the private good of every person, but also for the common good of every society, nation and state. When freedom is used to dominate the weak, to squander natural resources and energy, to deny basic necessities to people, to stand up and affirm the demands of justice and social love. Almighty Father, give us courage to proclaim the supreme dignity of all human life and to demand that society itself give its protection. We ask this in Your name, through the redemptive act

of Your Son and in the Holy Spirit.

Amen. A Prayer for the Unborn Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood. Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image, as well as theirs, made for eternal life. Dispel their fear of selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen. Pope Benedict XVI's Prayer for Life Lord Jesus, You who faithfully visit and fulfil with Your Presence the Church and the history of men; You who in the miraculous Sacrament of Your Body and Blood render us participants in divine Life and allow us a foretaste of the joy of eternal Life; We adore and bless You. Prostrated before You, source and lover of Life, truly present and alive among us, we beg You. Reawaken in us respect for every unborn life, make us capable of seeing in the fruit of the maternal womb

the miraculous work of the Creator, open our hearts to generously welcoming every child that comes into life. Bless all families, sanctify the union of spouses, render fruitful their love. Accompany the choices of legislative assemblies with the light of Your Spirit, so that peoples and nations may recognise and respect the sacred nature of life, of ever human life. Guide the work of scientists and doctors, so that all progress contributes to the integral well-being of the person, and no-one endures suppression or injustice. Gift creative charity to administrators and economists, so they may realise and promote sufficient conditions so that young families can serenely embrace the birth of new children Console the married couples who suffer because they are unable to have children and in Your goodness provide for them. Teach us all to care for orphaned or abandoned children, so they may experience the warmth of Your Charity, the consolation of Your divine Heart. Together with Mary, Your Mother, the great believer, in whose womb you took on our human nature, we wait to receive from You, our Only True Good and Saviour, the strength to love and serve life, in anticipation of living forever in You, in communion with the Blessed Trinity. 7 DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET

Remember, O Lord, that during thе Last Supper with Thy disciples, having washed their feet, Thou gavest them Thy Most Precious Body аnd Blood, аnd while аt thе same time thou didst sweetly console them, Thou didst foretell them Thy coming Passion.

Remember thе sadness аnd bitterness which Thou didst

experience іn Thy Soul аѕ Thou Thyself bore witness saying: "My Soul іѕ sorrowful even unto death."

Remember аll thе fear, anguish аnd pain that Thou didst

suffer іn Thy delicate Body before thе torment оf thе Crucifixion, when, after having prayed three times, bathed іn a sweat оf blood, Thou wast betrayed bу Judas, Thy disciple, arrested bу thе people оf a nation Thou hadst chosen аnd elevated, accused bу false witnesses, unjustly judged bу three judges during thе flower оf Thy youth аnd during thе solemn Paschal season.

Remember that Thou wast despoiled оf Thy garments аnd

clothed іn those оf derision; that Thy Face аnd Eyes were veiled, that Thou wast buffeted, crowned with thorns, a reed placed іn Thy Hands, that Thou wаѕ crushed with blows аnd overwhelmed with affronts аnd outrages. In memory оf аll these pains аnd sufferings which Thou didst endure before Thy Passion оn thе Cross, grant mе before mу death true contrition, a sincere аnd entire confession, worthy satisfaction аnd thе remission оf аll mу sins. Amen.

Second Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! True liberty оf angels, Paradise оf delights,

remember thе horror аnd sadness which Thou didst endure when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, аnd

bу thousands оf insults, spits, blows, lacerations аnd other unheard-of-cruelties, tormented Thee аt will. In consideration оf these torments аnd insulting words, I beseech Thee, O mу Saviour, tо deliver mе from аll mу enemies, visible аnd invisible, аnd tо bring me, under Thy protection, tо thе perfection оf eternal salvation. Amen.

Third Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Creator оf Heaven аnd earth Whom nothing can

encompass оr limit, Thou Who dost enfold аnd hold аll under Thy Loving power, remember thе very bitter pain Thou didst suffer when thе Jews nailed Thy Sacred Hands аnd Feet tо thе Cross bу blow after blow with big blunt nails, аnd nоt finding Thee іn a pitiable enough state tо satisfy their rage, they enlarged Thy Wounds, аnd added pain tо pain, аnd with indescribable cruelty stretched Thy Body оn thе Cross, pulled Thee from аll sides, thus dislocating Thy Limbs. I beg оf Thee, O Jesus, bу thе memory оf this most Loving suffering оf thе Cross, tо grant mе thе grace tо fear Thee аnd tо Love Thee. Amen.

Fourth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Heavenly Physician, raised aloft оn thе Cross tо

heal оur wounds with Thine, remember thе bruises which Thou didst suffer аnd thе weakness оf аll Thy Members which were distended tо such a degree that never wаѕ there pain like unto Thine. From thе crown оf Thy Head tо thе Soles оf Thy Feet there wаѕ nоt оnе spot оn Thy Body that wаѕ nоt іn torment, аnd yet, forgetting аll Thy sufferings,

Thou didst nоt cease tо pray tо Thy Heavenly Father fоr Thy enemies, saying: "Father forgive them fоr they know nоt what they do."

Through this great Mercy, аnd іn memory оf this suffering, grant that thе remembrance оf Thy Most Bitter Passion mау effect іn uѕ a perfect contrition аnd thе remission оf аll оur sins. Amen.

Fifth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Mirror оf eternal splendor, remember thе sadness

which Thou experienced, when contemplating іn thе light оf Thy Divinity thе predestination оf those whо would bе saved bу thе merits оf Thy Sacred Passion, Thou didst ѕее аt thе same time, thе great multitude оf reprobates whо would bе damned fоr their sins, аnd Thou didst complain bitterly оf those hopeless lost аnd unfortunate sinners. Through this abyss оf compassion аnd pity, аnd especially through thе goodness which Thou displayed tо thе good thief when Thou saidst tо him: "This day, thou shalt bе with Me іn Paradise." I beg оf Thee, O Sweet Jesus, that аt thе hour оf mу death, Thou wilt show mе mercy. Amen.

Sixth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Beloved аnd most desirable King, remember thе

grief Thou didst suffer, when naked аnd like a common criminal, Thou wаѕ fastened аnd raised оn thе Cross, when аll Thy relatives аnd friends abandoned Thee, except Thy Beloved Mother, whо remained close tо Thee during Thy agony аnd whom Thou didst entrust tо Thy faithful disciple

when Thou saidst tо Mary: "Woman, behold thу son!" аnd tо St. John: "Son, behold thу Mother!"

I beg оf Thee O mу Saviour, bу thе sword оf sorrow

which pierced thе soul оf Thy holy Mother, tо have compassion оn mе іn аll mу affliction аnd tribulations, both corporal аnd spiritual, аnd tо assist mе іn аll mу trials, аnd especially аt thе hour оf mу death. Amen.

Seventh Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Inexhaustible Fountain оf compassion, Who bу a

profound gesture оf Love, said from thе Cross: "I thirst!" suffered from thе thirst fоr thе salvation оf thе human race. I beg оf Thee O mу Saviour, tо inflame іn оur hearts thе desire tо tend toward perfection іn аll оur acts; аnd tо extinguish іn uѕ thе concupiscence оf thе flesh аnd thе ardour оf worldly desires. Amen.

Eighth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Sweetness оf hearts, delight оf thе spirit, bу thе

bitterness оf thе vinegar аnd gall which Thou didst taste оn thе Cross fоr Love оf us, grant uѕ thе grace tо receive worthily Thy Precious Body аnd Blood during оur life аnd аt thе hour оf оur death, that they mау serve аѕ a remedy аnd consolation fоr оur souls. Amen.

Ninth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Royal virtue, joy оf thе mind, recall thе pain

Through this anguish, I beg оf Thee, O mу Saviour, nоt tо

abandon mе іn thе terrors аnd pains оf mу death. Amen. Tenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Who аrt thе beginning аnd end оf аll things, life

аnd virtue, remember that fоr оur sake, Thou wаѕ plunged іn аn abyss оf suffering from thе soles оf Thy Feet tо thе crown оf Thy Head. In consideration оf thе enormity оf Thy Wounds, teach mе tо keep, through pure love, Thy Commandments, whose wау іѕ wide аnd easy fоr those whо love Thee. Amen.

Eleventh Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Deep abyss оf mercy, I beg оf Thee, іn memory

оf Thy Wounds which penetrated tо thе very marrow оf Thy Bones аnd tо thе depth оf Thy being, tо draw me, a miserable sinner, overwhelmed bу mу offenses, away from sin аnd tо

hide mе from Thy Face justly irritated against me, hide mе іn Thy wounds, until Thy anger аnd just indignation shall have passed away. Amen.

Twelfth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Mirror оf Truth, symbol оf unity, bond оf charity,

remember thе multitude оf wounds with which Thou wast afflicted from head tо foot, torn аnd reddened bу thе spilling оf Thy adorable Blood. O great аnd universal pain, which Thou didst suffer іn Thy virginal flesh fоr love оf us! Sweetest Jesus! What іѕ there that Thou couldst have done fоr uѕ which Thou has nоt done!

May thе fruit оf Thy suffering bе renewed іn mу soul bу

thе faithful remembrance оf Thy Passion, аnd mау Thy love increase іn mу heart each day, until I ѕее Thee іn eternity: Thou Who аrt thе treasure оf every real good аnd every joy, which I beg Thee tо grant me, O Sweetest Jesus, іn heaven. Amen.

Thirteenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Strong Lion, Immortal аnd Invincible King,

remember thе pain which Thou didst endure when аll Thy strength, both moral аnd physical, wаѕ entirely exhausted, Thou didst bow Thy Head, saying: "It іѕ consummated!" Through this anguish аnd grief, I beg оf Thee Lord Jesus, tо have mercy оn mе аt thе hour оf mу death when mу mind will bе greatly troubled аnd mу soul will bе іn anguish. Amen.

Fourteenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! Only Son оf thе Father, Splendor аnd Figure оf

His Substance, remember thе simple аnd humble recommendation Thou didst make оf Thy Soul tо Thy Eternal Father, saying: "Father, into Thy Hands I commend My Spirit!" And with Thy Body аll torn, аnd Thy Heart Broken, аnd thе bowels оf Thy Mercy open tо redeem us, Thou didst Expire. By this Precious Death, I beg оf Thee O King оf Saints, comfort mе аnd help mе tо resist thе devil, thе flesh аnd thе world, ѕо that being dead tо thе world I mау live fоr Thee alone. I beg оf Thee аt thе hour оf mу death tо receive me, a pilgrim аnd аn exile returning tо Thee. Amen.

Fifteenth Prayer Our Father... Hail Mary... O Jesus! True аnd fruitful Vine! Remember thе abundant

outpouring оf Blood which Thou didst ѕо generously shed from Thy Sacred Body аѕ juice from grapes іn a wine press. From Thy Side, pierced with a lance bу a soldier, blood аnd water issued forth until there wаѕ nоt left іn Thy Body a single drop, аnd finally, like a bundle оf myrrh lifted tо thе top оf thе Cross Thy delicate Flesh wаѕ destroyed, thе very Substance оf Thy Body withered, аnd thе Marrow оf Thy Bones dried up.

Through this bitter Passion аnd through thе outpouring оf

Thy Precious Blood, I beg оf Thee, O Sweet Jesus, tо receive mу soul when I аm іn mу death agony. Amen.

Conclusion O Sweet Jesus! Pierce mу heart ѕо that mу tears оf

penitence аnd love will bе mу bread dау аnd might; mау I bе converted entirely tо Thee, mау mу heart bе Thy perpetual habitation, mау mу conversation bе pleasing tо Thee, аnd mау thе end оf mу life bе ѕо praiseworthy that I mау merit Heaven аnd there with Thy saints, praise Thee forever.

Prayers of Saint Bridget (to be recited for 12 years) The Lord Jesus revealed to Saint Bridget to have received more than

6000 blows during His Passion and to have shed for us more than 30 000 drops of His Holy Blood, and further promising her, “May it also be known that I will grant the following graces to the person who will have honoured My most Precious Blood for 12 years with 7 Our Father and 7 Hail Marys”

He will not be sent to Purgatory.

He will be numbered among the martyrs as if he had shed his blood for the faith.

I will keep the souls of 3 of his relatives of his choice, in a state of sanctifying Grace.

The souls of his relatives up to the fourth kinship will avoid being sent to Hell.

He will come to know of his death a month beforehand, if he should die before the end of the 12 years of prayer I will consider his prayers valid, as if he had completed them.”

How to recite the prayers The following prayers have to be recited every day for 12 consecutive years. As for the 15 Prayers, they have to be recited every day, but if, for a very serious reason, on one particular day, one should not manage to recite them, the following day the must be recited twice. It is, however, necessary not to underestimate the importance of being faithful to the daily recital of the Prayers, since, if prayer is

truly the sole centre of the day, what reason could be sufficient to make us avoid saying them? Further it is not enough to read them without paying attention to them, as they have to be said devotedly and meditating on the words which are said. Beginning of the prayers In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. O God , come to our aid. O Lord, make hast to help us. Glory be… The Apostle’s Creed… Initial Prayer O Jesus, I wish to recite Your prayer to the Father 7 times, uniting myself to the Love with which You sanctified it in Your Heart and You uttered it with Your lips. Bring it from my lips to Your divine Heart, improve it and complete it in such a perfect way so as to offer to the Most Holy Trinity, the same honour and joy that You showed reciting it when on earth. May the honour and joy flow on Your Sacred Humanity for the glorification of Your Holy Wounds and of Your Most Precious Blood, which gushed forth from them.

1. The Circumcision Eternal Father, through the immaculate hands of Mary and the divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You the first wounds, the first pains and the first drops of blood of Jesus, to pardon the sins of my youth and of those of all men as protection against the first mortal sins especially those of my relatives. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

3. The Scourging Eternal Father, through the immaculate hands of Mary and the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You all the thousands of strokes, the suffering and the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, shed during the scourging in atonement of my sins of the flesh and those of all men, as protection against such sins and as a safeguard of innocence, in particular among my relatives. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

4. The Crowning with Thorns Eternal Father, through the immaculate hands of Mary and through the Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You the wounds and the Most Precious Blood which flowed from the Head of Jesus when He was crowned with thorns, in amends of my sins of the spirit and of those of all men, as protection against such sins and for the propagation of the Kingdom of God on earth. 5. The Path to Calvary of Jesus under the Weight of

the Cross Eternal Father through the immaculate hands of Mary and through the divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You the suffering endured by Jesus on the Way to Calvary and in particular the Holy Wounds of His Shoulder and from which His Most Precious Blood poured forth, in amends of my sins of rebellion against the Cross and of those of all men, of the murmuring against Your holy plan and of all those sins of the tongue and, as protection against such sins and for a true love of Your Holy Cross. 6. The Crucifixion Eternal Father, through the immaculate hands of Mary and the divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You Your divine Son, nailed and mounted on the cross, the cross, the sounds and the Most Precious Blood of His hands and of His feet poured out for us, His extreme poverty and His perfect obedience. I also offer You all the terrible torments of His mind and of His soul, His precious death and the peaceful renewal of it in all the Holy Masses celebrated on Earth, in amends for all the offences committed against the Holy evangelical vows and the rules of all religious Orders; in amends for all my sins and those of the whole world, for the sick and the dying, for priests and lay people, for the intentions of the Holy Father concerning the renewal for Christian families, for the unity of the faith, for our homeland, for the unity of all people in Christ and in His Church and for the Diaspora (of the Jews). Consecration to Saint Michael the Archangel Saint Michael the Archangel, invincible Prince of the Angelic hosts and glorious protector of the universal Church, I greet thee and praise thee for that splendour with which God has adorned thee so richly. I thank God for the great graces He hast bestowed upon thee, especially to remain faithful when Lucifer and his followers rebelled, and to battle victoriously for the honour of God and the Divinity of the Son of Man. Saint Michael I consecrate to thee my soul and body. I choose thee as my patron and protector and entrust the salvation of my soul to thy care. Be the guardian of my obligation as a child of God and of the Catholic Church as again I renounce Satan, his works and pomps. Assist me by thy powerful intercession in the fulfilment of these sacred promises, so that imitating thy courage and loyalty to God, and trusting in thy kind help and protection, I may be victorious over the enemies of my soul and be untied with God in Heaven forever, Amen. 10 FIRST NINE FRIDAYS

4. I will be their strength during life and above all during

death. 5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their

undertakings. 6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the

infinite ocean of mercy. 7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent. 8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection. 9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart

shall be set up and honoured. 10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most

hardened hearts. 11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have

their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.

12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

11 FIRST FIVE SATURDAYS

Background Mary appeared in a vision to a 14 year old girl called Lucia Santos, who was also one of the three Fatima visionaries. Mary requested the institution of the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the month in reparation to her Immaculate Heart.

"Look, my daughter, at my Heart encircled by these thorns

with which men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.

Page 154: Favourite prayers (2016) ebook

64

Our Lady promised to grant great graces, especially at the hour of death, in particular the salvation of the soul, for the believer who for Five Consecutive First Saturdays of Month (5 Saturdays in 5 months) receives Holy Communion and practices the following exercises as an Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Queen of Heaven:

Sacramental confession The confession can take place days before or even after the Holy Communion is received, but the Holy Communion shall be received with dignity, in a state of Grace, keeping in mind that Jesus is physically present in the Eucharist.

If a person has a valid reason not to attend Mass (Masses

not available on Saturdays, difficult mobilisation, other major event), the devotee may consult a priest about receiving Communion privately or on another day with the intention of making this Communion as part of the devotion.

Page 155: Favourite prayers (2016) ebook

The Rosary The Rosary must also be recited with the intention of making reparation.

15 Minute Meditation A 15 Minute Meditation is made on the Mysteries of the Rosary

This Meditation should also be done in an Act of

Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Rosary Meditations can be done on all 15 of the mysteries or fewer but must last for 15 minutes. This meditation is in addition to the recitation of the Rosary. It can be done alone or in a group and with or without the aid of sacred scripture.

13 PRAYERS TO THE HOLY FACE OF JESUS

Prayer of Saint Therese to the Holy Face of Jesus O Jesus, Who in Thy cruel Passion didst become the “Reproach of men and the Man of Sorrows,” I worship Thy Divine Face. Once it shone with the beauty and sweetness of the Divinity: now for my sake it is become as the face of a leper. Yet in that disfigured Countenance I recognise Thy infinite Love, and I am consumed with the desire of loving Thee and of making Thee loved by all mankind. The tears that streamed in such abundance from Thy Eyes are to me as precious pearls which I delight to gather, that with their infinite worth I may ransom the souls of poor sinners. O Jesus, Whose Face is the sole beauty that ravishes my heart, I may not behold here upon earth the sweetness of Thy Glance, nor feel the ineffable tenderness of Thy Kiss, I bow to Thy Will – but I pray Thee to imprint in me Thy Divine Likeness, and I implore Thee to so inflame me with Thy Love, that it may quickly consume me and I may soon reach the Vision of Thy glorious Face in Heaven. Amen.

The Golden Arrow Prayer May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and unutterable name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified, in heaven, on earth and under the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the most Holy Sacrament of the alter. Amen. (After receiving this prayer, Sister Mary of Saint Peter was given a vision in which she saw the Sacred Heart of Jesus delightfully wounded by this “Golden Arrow” as torrents of graces streamed from it for the conversion of sinners.) Reparation Prayer Eternal Father, turn away Thy angry gaze from our guilty people, whose face has become unsightly in Thine eyes. Look instead upon the Face of Thy Beloved Son, for this is the Face of Him in Whom Thou art well pleased. We now offer Thee this Holy Face, covered with shame and disfigured by bloody bruises in reparation for the crimes of our age in order to appease Thine anger, justly provoked against us. Because Thy Divine Son, our Redeemer, has taken upon His Head all the sins of His embers, that they might be spared, we now beg of Thee, Eternal Father, to grant us mercy. Amen.

Offering to the Holy Face Eternal Father, we offer Thee the Holy Face of Jesus, covered with blood, sweat, dust and spittle, in reparation for the crimes of communists, blasphemers, and for the profaners of the Holy Name and of the Holy Day. Amen.

Prayer to Reproduce the Image of God in Our Souls (Our Lord told Sister Mary of Saint Peter that the Image of His Holy Face is like a Divine Stamp which it applied to souls, through prayer, has the power of imprinting anew within them the Image of God.) I salute Thee, I adore Thee, and I love Thee, oh adorable Face of my beloved Jesus, as the noble Stamp of Divinity! Completely surrendering my soul to Thee I most humbly beg Thee to stamp this seal upon us all, so that “the Image of God” may once more be reproduced by its imprint in our souls. Amen.

Novena to Saint Jude Most holy Apostle, St.

(make your request here) - and that I may praise God with you and all the saints

forever. I promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour granted me by God and to always honour you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.

So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and

Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for me.

Novena to Saint Therese of the Child Jesus (This prayer is to be recited for nine consecutive days for a special intention) Dear Little Therese of the Child Jesus, the great saint of pure love for God, I come before you today to confide to you my ardent desire. Most humbly I come to implore your powerful intercession for the grace I ask… (Here we pause to express our intention)

A short while before your death, you asked God if you could spend your heaven doing good on earth. You also promised to let a shower of roses fall upon us, little ones.

In my certainty that you never turn away the little ones who suffer, I come with confidence to implore your help. Intercede for me with your crucified and glorious Spouse. Let Him know what I desire. He will listen to you, because you never refused Him anything while on earth. Little Therese, victim of love for the Lord, patron of the missions, model for simple and trusting souls, I turn to you as to an older sister, most powerful and most loving. Obtain for me the grace

which I ask, if it be the will of God. May you be blessed, little Therese for all the good which you have done for us and which you wish to do for us until the end of the world.

May you be blessed and thanked a thousand times for allowing us to touch in this way the goodness and mercy of our God! Amen. Prayer to Saint Rita O Saint Rita, saint who intercede for what seems impossible to change and advocate of hopeless cases, I turn to you, burdened by the weight of my trial.

Free my poor heart from the worry which oppresses it and give peace to my broken spirit.

You who were chosen by God to be the advocate of hopeless cases, obtain for me the grace which I ask of you…

(Here we express our intention) Should I be the only one not to experience the efficacy

of your powerful intercession? If my sins be an obstacle to the granting of my dearest

prayers, obtain for me the grace of sincere repentance and forgiveness by means of a good confession.

Whatever may happen, do not allow me to continue to live in such tremendous suffering. Take pity on me!

O Lord, look at the hope which I have placed in You! Hear St Rita who intercedes for us who are without hope because of our trial and tribulations. Hear her once again and in this way, manifest Your mercy in us, Your children. Amen.

Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. Heart of Jesus, You know; Heart of Jesus, You can; Heart of Jesus, You see; Heart of Jesus, provide; Heart of Jesus, decide. O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of poor sinners and for the remission of sins committed against the immaculate Heart of Mary. In the morning and evening, when kissing the crucifix, we can pray the words: We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You because by Your holy cross, You have redeemed the world. Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth, and a door around my lips. Incline not my heart to evil words: to make excuses in sins. O God , come to our aid. O Lord, make hast to help us. Brief invocations of the Holy Spirit Come, Holy Spirit, come through the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your beloved spouse. Send forth Your Spirit, O Lord and renew the face of the earth. Come Holy Spirit, come, Divine Power of Love, come and fill my poor heart; purify it, sanctify it, make it all Yours. 15 STATIONS OF THE CROSS

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Before meditating on the passion of Jesus, let us humbly acknowledge that we are sinners before God and let us purify ourselves of our sins.

(Pause for a moment of silence)

First Station: Jesus is condemned to death V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy cross, You have redeemed the world. “Pilate then summoned the chief priests and the leading men and the people and said to them “You brought this Man before me as a popular agitator. Now I have gone into the matter myself in your presence and found no grounds on the Man for any of the charges you bring against Him. Nor has Herod either, since he has sent Him back to us. As you can see, the Man has done nothing that deserves death, so I shall have Him flogged and then let Him go. But as one man they howled, “Away

with Him! Give us Barabbas!” This man had been thrown into prison because of a riot in the city and murder. In his desire to set Jesus free, Pilate addressed them again, but they shouted back, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” and for the third time he spoke to them, “But what harm has this Man done? I shall have Him flogged and then let Him go.” But they kept on shouting at the top of their voices, demanding that He should be crucified. And their shouts kept growing louder. Pilate then gave his verdict, their demand was to be granted. He released the man they asked for, who had been imprisoned because of rioting and murder and handed Jesus over to them to deal with as they pleased.” (Luke 23:13-25). Hear how the people pronounced the sentence of My death. Consider with what silence, with what patience and meekness My Heart receives it. O Souls, that seek to imitate My behaviour, learn to keep silent and to be serene before what humiliates you and is against your will. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

One or more of the following prayers may be said after each station.

I love You, Jesus, my Love, above all things, I repent with my whole heart for having offended You. Never permit me to separate myself from You again. Grant that I may love You always, then do with me what You will. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us. O Holy Mother! Let the wounds of Our Lord be impressed upon my heart. Jesus and Mary, I love You! Save all souls that are

consecrated to You and save all souls. At public recitations a verse of the hymn “Stabat Mater Dolorosa” is traditionally sung at each station as follows: At the cross Her station keeping, stood the mournful Mother weeping, close to Jesus at the last. Second Station: Jesus takes up His Cross V. We adore You, O Christ and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “Then speaking to all He said, “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross every day and follow Me. Anyone who wants to save his life will lose it, but anyone who loses his life for My sake, will save it.”” (Luke 9:23-24). Look at the Cross which they put on My shoulders. It’s weight is great, but the love I feel towards all souls is much greater. O Souls that love Me, compare the depth of My suffering to the depth of love which you show Me and do not let disheartenment quench the flame of this love. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Prayers as for the first station… Through Her heart, His sorrow sharing, All His bitter anguish bearing, Now at length the sword had passed.

Third Station: Jesus falls the first time V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “All of you who pass this way, look and see: is any sorrow like the sorrow inflicted on Me, with which Yahweh struck Me on the day of His burning anger?” (Lamentations 1:12). The weight of the Cross makes Me fall to the ground, but zeal for saving souls makes Me rise again, take heart once more and follow the way. Souls that I have invited to share the weight of the Cross, see if your zeal for saving souls infuses you with new energy to go forward on the path of self-denial and renouncement of your own will, or if self-centredness prostrates your strength and does not allow you to bear the weight of the cross. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Prayers as for the first station… Oh how sad and tore distressed Was that Mother highly blest, Of the sole-begotten One.

Fourth Station: Jesus meets His Blessed Mother V. We adore You, O Christ and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His Mother, “Look, He is destined for the fall and the rise of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is opposed and a sword will pierce Your soul too – so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.” As for Mary She treasured all these things and pondered them in Her heart.” (Luke 2:34-35; 1:19). Here I meet My most holy and beloved Mother. Consider the martyrdom that Our two Hearts suffered! Yet we unite the pain which each one of us experiences; it becomes mutual, and love, however painful it may be, triumphs over all. O Souls, walking along the same path, and seeking the same God, may the sight of your mutual suffering encourage and fortify you so that love may triumph. May your unity in sorrow sustain you and make you embrace lovingly the thorns along your way. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Fifth Station: Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry the Cross V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “As they were leading Him away, they seized on a man, Simon from Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and made him shoulder the Cross and carry it behind Jesus.” (Luke 23:26). Consider how Simon of Cyrene accepted this cruel and painful weight under constraint, and reflect upon how My body is losing its strength. O Souls, if your strength wanes because of the continual struggle against your own nature, contemplate the carrying of My Cross, not merely to receive a small reward or a fleeting earthly consolation, but in order to bring about the same happiness to other souls. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Prayers as for the first station… Is there one who would not weep, Whelmed in miseries so deep, Christ’s dear Mother to behold?

Sixth Station: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus V. We adore You, O Christ and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “He had no form or charm to attract us, nor beauty to win our hearts; He was despised, the lowest of men, a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering, one from whom, as it were, we averted our gaze, despised for whom we had no regard.” (Isaiah 3:2-3). Consider the charity with which this woman (Veronica) comes and wipes My face, and how her love conquers every regard for human respect. Ah! Do not let a trifling fear of losing your reputation or your good name prevent you from wiping My face with acts of generosity and love! See how it is covered in blood! Seventh Station: Jesus falls for the second time V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “We had all gone astray like sheep, each taking his own way, and Yahweh brought he acts of rebellion of all of us to bear on him. Ill-treated and afflicted, he never opened his mouth, like a lamb led to the slaughter-house, like a sheep dumb before its shearers, he never opened his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:6-7). The Cross is exhausting My strength. The path is long and painful; nobody is near to help Me, and My pain is such that I fall a second time. Souls that walk along My way, do not be discouraged if, during your lifetime, you experience periods of aridity and are deprived of spiritual and human consolation. Take heart at the vision of your Model on the way to Calvary. As you see, it is the second time that I fall, but I rise and follow My path till the end. If you need strength, come and kiss My feet. Eight Station: Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “Large numbers of people followed Him, and women too, who mourned and lamented for Him. But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me; the days are surely coming when people will say, “Blessed are those who are barren, the wombs that have never borne children, the breasts that have never sucked!” Then they will begin to say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”; to the hills, “Cover us!” For if this is what is done to green wood, what will be done when the wood is dry?” (Luke 23:27-31). The women of Jerusalem weep at seeing me in such a shameful state. The world weeps in front of suffering; but I say to you, O Souls who follow Me along the same narrow path, may the world one day see you walking through wide fields carpeted with flowers. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Ninth Station: Jesus falls the third time V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “It is for us who are strong to bear with susceptibilities of the weaker ones, and not please ourselves. Each of us must consider his neighbour’s good, so that we support one another. Christ did not indulge His own feelings, either; indeed, as scripture says: The insults of those who insult you fall on me.” (Romans 15:1-3). Contemplate Me as I approach Calvary and fall for the third time. In this way I give strength to those souls who, when in danger of eternal death, mend their ways through the blood of the wounds produced by this third fall: I will give them the grace to get up once more and obtain eternal life. O Souls that wish to imitate Me, never refuse to do even the smallest act of charity, even if it causes you new wounds. It does not matter! This blood will give life to a soul! Imitate our Lord Jesus who proceeds towards Calvary. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Prayers as for the first station… O Thou Mother! Fount of love! Touch my spirit from above, Make my heart with Thine accord.

Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of His garments V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “When the soldiers had finished crucifying Jesus they took His clothing and divided it into four shares, one for each soldier. His undergarment was seamless, woven in one piece from neck to hem; so they said to one another, “Instead of tearing it, let’s throw dice to decided who is to have it.” In this way the words of scripture were fulfilled: They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothes.” That is what the soldiers did.” (John 19:23-24).

Consider with what cruelty they take away My clothes! Contemplate how I remain in silence and in total isolation! Let yourselves be deprived of all you have, both of possessions and of your own will. In return I will dress you with the tunic of purity and with the treasures of My Heart. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Prayers as for the first station…

Eleventh Station: Jesus is nailed to the Cross V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “When they reached the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the two criminals, one of His right, the other on His left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing.” Then they cast lots to share out His clothing.” (Luke 23:33-34). I have already come to the summit of the hill where they will crucify Me. They are already stretching out My arms and nailing Me to the Cross! I have nothing left, not even the liberty to move a hand or a foot. It is not the nails which hold Me down, but love! … So that neither a cry nor a sigh is uttered from My lips. Are you nailed to the cross; are you kept there by nails? Do not complain, do not moan when those blessed nails lacerate your hands and your feet. Come and kiss Mine, and you will find strength! Twelfth Station: Jesus dies on the Cross after three hours of agony V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “When the sixth hour came there was a darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, eloi, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” When some of those who stood by heard this, they said, “Listen, He is calling on Elijah.” Someone ran and soaked a sponge of vinegar and putting it on a reed, gave it to Him to drink saying, “Wait! And see if Elijah will come to take Him down.” But Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed His last. And the veil of the Sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. The centurion, who was standing in front of Him, had seen how he died, and said, “In truth this man was the Son of God.”” (Mark 15:33-37) The Cross is my companion on the way to Calvary, and on the Cross I take My last breath. O Souls that have had the cross as an inseparable companion during your lives, be sure that you shall take your last breath upon it, but it will also be the door through which you will enter life. Kiss this sacred and blessed token constantly: embrace it tenderly and love it as the greatest of your treasures. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Thirteenth Station: Jesus is taken down from the Cross and laid in the arms of His blessed Mother V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “And now a member of the Council arrived, a good and upright man named Joseph. He had not consented to what the others had planned and carried out. He came from Arimathaea, a Jewish town, and he lived in the hope of seeing the kingdom of God. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. He then took it down, wrapped it in a shroud and put it in a tomb which was hewn in stone and which had never held a body. It was Preparation day and the Sabbath was beginning to grow light.” (Luke 23:50-53). Consider the love of Joseph of Arimathaea who takes it upon himself to remove My body from the Cross. He puts it into the arms of My Mother. She adores My body and kisses it; She lets Her tears fall upon My face and over all of My body. Then She gives it to those who will embalm it and place it in the tomb. Come, all souls! Take My body, embalm it with the spices of your virtues! Adore My wounds! Kiss them and let your tears fall on My face! And then place Me in the sepulchre of Your heart. And say also a word of comfort to My dear Mother, who is your dear Mother. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Fourteenth Station: Jesus is laid in the tomb. V. We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You. R. Because, by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. “So Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean shroud and put it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out of the rock. He then rolled a large stone across the entrance of the tomb and went away. Now Mary of Magdala and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the sepulchre.” (Matthew 27:69-60). Consider with what tenderness they place Me in the tomb. It is new and therefore pure without the slightest stain. O Souls that are united to Me, seek to carry out all the acts of kindness and tenderness which your love inspires you to do, until your heart becomes pure and well prepared to bury Me in tender, strong, constant and generous love. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be…

Against You, You alone, I have sinned, I have done what You see to be wrong, That You may show Your saving justice when You pass sentence, And Your victory may appear when You give judgement, Remember, I was born guilty, A sinner from the moment of conception. But You delight in sincerity of heart, And in secret You teach me wisdom. Purify me with hyssop till I am clean, Wash me till I am whiter than snow. Let me hear the sound of joy and gladness, And the bones You have crushed will dance. Turn away Your face from my sins, And wipe away all my guilt. Give me back the joy of Your salvation, Sustain in me a generous spirit. I shall teach the wicked Your paths, And sinners will return to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, God, God of my salvation,
