Basic purpose of the project
During the five year initial project period, the center will be used by local residents of the area to write and to produce African-themed books to be distributed to local readers and libraries in Hounde and other villages… The center will assist local residents in editing, processing, small print-runs, and binding.
Transfer of grant $35,000 made May 2013 to Rotary Savane Ouagadougou
Transfer of about $9,000 made end August 2013 to start project
Transfer made 30 June 2015: 3.690.000 FCFA (about $7,000)Current balance: about $18,000Project completion date: June 2017
Progress report submitted to Rotary International Global Grant on March 2014. At that time, $7,347.00 of $ 35,584.00 had been spent.
Next steps in project
• Hire a part-time manager in Burkina Faso• Continue to produce about 20 new titles each
year• Print and distribute several thousand copies of
titles• Prepare a catalog of titles• Organize all electronic files in central repository
