CONFIRMATION PREPARATIONOur programme of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins on Wednesday, 18th July at 7.30 p.m. in the Ursuline School Chapel. This is the date of the preliminary meeting, where we will give you the dates and details of the course, which will start in September. You must be at least 16 years old by September (Year 12), and no older than 18 by June 2012 (Year 13). (If you are over 18, our Journey in Faith programme begins on the 22nd September). Parents – at least one – are required to attend this meeting too. The minimum requirement for this course is that you must be attending Mass on a weekly basis. If you are not practising your faith now – i.e. weekly attendance at Sunday Mass –then you are encouraged to wait until next year’s programme, or whenever you feel ready. The Sacrament of Confirmation can be received at any age, and we will always there to help when you are ready to receive the Sacrament.

The first session for the children will be on Saturday, 22nd September, starting with Mass at 9.15 a.m. Application forms and programme dates are now available in the narthex and at Holy Cross and it is imperative that parents and children are able to attend all the sessions. Completed forms must be returned to Clergy House by the 3RD SEPTEMBER as no applications will be accepted after this date. Please be aware that if you live outside the boundaries of the Cathedral or Holy Cross parishes you will need the permission of your own parish priest for a child to make their First Holy Communion here.
