FastTest Server Set Up Installation Guide

1. Insert the Amtech Installation DVD into your DVD drive

2. Select Next on the Installation Wizard

3. Enter your Company Name & License Number and then select Next

4. Once you have read and understood the License Agreement click I Agree to proceed or No tocancel the installation

5. Amtech will install to the default location on your local hard disk drive. If Amtech has never beenpreviously installed to this pc, you can browse to another location, then select Next

6. You will be notified of the products that are about to be installed, click Next to confirm.

7. If you are installing FastTest Plus or Pro you will have the option to select Local or Networkinstallation. Please select Local and click on Next

8. The FastTest server setup form will allow you to either restore your previous or create a blank one.The installation will automatically detect the location of your current FastTest database or allowyou to browse to one to restore. Upon selection click Next to proceed

9. Once the database has been installed you will have to create an Administrator username andpassword. If you have restored a previous FastTest database you will have the option to associatethe user to a Company & Engineer from the restored database. Once this information has beenentered select Save to continue

10. You will now be advised that FastTest has installed successfully. Click Finish

FastTest Local Peer to Peer Network Installation

FastTest Plus & Pro Peer to Peer Installation A Peer to Peer installation allows you to configure a single client/PC to host the master database and have all other clients access that database. Users can connect to the master database via the local network or remotely (e.g. A Virtual Private Network (VPN)) depending on the networks configuration.

Installation Instructions

1. Insert the Amtech Installation DVD into your DVD drive

2. Select Next on the Installation Wizard

3. Enter your Company Name & License Number and then select Next.

4. Once you have read & understood the License Agreement click I Agree to proceed or No to cancelthe installation

5. Amtech will install to the default location on your local hard disk drive. If Amtech has never beenpreviously installed to this pc, you can browse to another location, then select Next

9. Once the database has been installed you will be prompted to create an Administrator usernameand password. If you have restored a previous FastTest database you will have the option toassociate the user to a Company & Engineer from the restored database. Once this information hasbeen entered select Save to continue.

10. You will now be advised that FastTest has installed successfully. Click Finish

FastTest Network Installation for Server & Local Installs

FastTest Plus & Pro Server/Client Installation The Server/Client Installation allows you to install a master database to a host computer without the associated FastTest application (can be a server or a PC).

Clients are then installed and configured to connect to the master database located on the host computer. Users can connect to the master database via the local network or remotely (e.g. A Virtual Private Network (VPN)) depending on the networks configuration.

FastTest Plus & Pro Server Installation

Note: The AMTECHINSTANCE must be created prior to this Installation if you have a purchased copy of SQL

1. Insert the Amtech Installation DVD into your DVD drive

2. Select Next on the Installation Wizard

3. Enter your Company Name & the FastTest Generic Server Licence Number (271164282)

4. Once you have read & understood the License Agreement click I Agree to proceed or No to cancelthe installation

5. FastTest Server will install to the default location on your local hard disk drive. If FastTest Serverhas never been previously installed to this computer, you can browse to another location, thenselect Next

6. You will be notified of the products that are about to be installed, click Next toconfirm

7. The FastTest server setup form will allow you to either to Restore your previous FastTest databaseor create a blank one. The installation will automatically detect the location of your current FastTestdatabase or allow you to browse to one to restore. Upon selection click Next to proceed

8. Once the database has been installed you will have to create an Administrator username andpassword. 9. You will now be advised that FastTest Server has installed successfully.

FastTest Plus & Pro Client Installation

10. Insert the Amtech Installation DVD into your DVD drive

11. Select Next on the Installation Wizard

12. Enter your Company Name & License Number and then select Next.

13. Once you have read & understood the Licence Agreement click I Agree to proceed or No to cancelthe installation

14. FastTest will install to the default location on your local hard disk drive. If FastTest has never beenpreviously installed to this pc, you can browse to another location, then select Next

15. You will be notified of the products that are about to be installed, click Next toconfirm

16. You will have the option to select Local or Network installation. Please select Network and click onNext

17. FastTest will now search all available servers & computers for the AMTECHFASTTEST Instance(database) and you should select the relevant server name from the list. If your instance is not inthe list you can manually enter it. For Example Server or Computer Name followed by\AMTECHFASTTEST.You must ensure you have the correct permissions to view/access the location of theAMTECHFASTTEST Instance. Upon correct selection or entry select Save

18. You will now be advised that FastTest has installed successfully. Click Ok and follow the on-screeninstructions to complete the FastTest installation

19. When you launch FastTest you will be required to login (using the login created on the FastTestServer Installation). The Administrator will be able to create user logins for each user as anyonewishing to access FastTest will need a user login.

FastTest Installation Guide – Creating an Amtech Instance

In order to install the FastTest database to a server containing SQL 2008, a new instance will need to be installed with the following parameters:

1. Select New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation

2. In the next window Setup Support Rules Click OK

3. Enter Product Key information and then click Next

4. Accept the License Terms and click Next

5. On the window Setup Support Files click Install and the following window click Next

6. In the dialog for Feature Selection tick the components as per this image and then click Next

7. On the Instance Configuration screen select ‘Named Instance’ and enter the name ‘AMTECHFASTTEST’.Click Next

8. On the Disk Space Requirements screen click Next

9. On the Service Configuration screen click Use the same account for all SQL Server services. Select theAccount Name as NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE and leave password blank. Click OK. Screen shouldlook like this, and then click Next.

10. Click the tab for Collation and check it is the same as this screen shot and click Next

11. For Database Engine Configuration select Mixed Mode and enter a Built-in SQL Server system administratoraccount logon password (something you will remember). Specify SQL Server Administrators if required.Alternatively just click Add Current User. Click Next.

12. On the Error and Usage Reporting screen, leave as default and click Next

13. On the Installation Rules screen, check no Failed items and then click Next

14. On the Ready to Install screen, click Install

15. When it successfully installs then you will need to open the SQL Server Configuration Manager from Start >All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 > Configuration Tools, and check that the protocols forAMTECHFASTTEST are enabled as below:

If you need to change them you will need to restart the service.
