Have you had a chance to enjoy Farmingdale’s ‘LIVE AT FIVE ON MAIN’ during July or August? Main Street was packed as many enjoyed a very fun social evening of

music, family, friends and food. I myself enjoyed these evenings very much; the threat of summer storms didn’t hold anything back, well maybe for an hour or so! Kudos to Farmingdale Village and all event planners, promoters, participating merchants and sponsors.

Our events are not just limited to Main Street. During this summer we have had After Hours Networking at Jenny Craig and Zona! Keep a close eye on the calendar of events to keep up with our busy networking schedule. September brings us to Verona Restaurant, located at 1255 Melville Road, across

from SUNY Farmingdale; make sure to join us for lunch at 12 Noon on September 1. The Chamber has been very busy welcoming new businesses to Farmingdale with Ribbon Cuttings. All are welcome to the ribbon cuttings. Come join us to welcome new local companies opening… the more the merrier!!!

Congratulations to John Jessup of Rita’s Italian Ices. He is this year’s honoree as the chamber’s Outstanding Businessperson of 2016. John is active in helping the Cham-ber on the membership committee, donates his time to Chamber events as well as being very active in the Farmingdale School District. John is the epitome of helping

improve our town and running a very professional company. Congratulations, John! Well deserved. Please join us at Croxley’s Ale House, in The Garden (their new, premier event space!), on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6 - 9 pm to honor John. All are welcome; bring a friend!

We are very fortunate that the Daily News has chosen Farmingdale to participate in a special section; DISCOVER LONG ISLAND. Board Member Dave Saul is working diligently with the Daily News to set up this section that will be out September 25. Please look for emails with more information.

Membership is at an ALL TIME HIGH! I am so proud and happy that our membership committee has been so active in helping grow our membership. Many thanks to all of them: Joseph Leone, Safeguard by Bradley Marketing Group; Heather Anderson, Bethpage Federal Credit Union; Chris Wider, Priestley Chiropractic; Chris Cornett, Merrill Lynch; Chris Dudley, People's United Bank; John Jessup, Rita's Italian Ices; and

Joseph P. Tafuro, CPA. Speaking of membership… the value of YOUR membership will soon increase! I’m excited to announce that the chamber is in the process of moving to a brand new, responsive website, along with a new member management system - pro-

vided by Chambermaster.com. The board has long recognized that while our current website is adequate and useful, after almost 10 years it has become dated. Our invaluable chamber Administrator, Jo Wider, will be able to maintain our new website to keep our content fresh and

relevant. And you or one of your employees will be able to keep your business’ or organization’s content up-to-date! Members will have the opportunity to log into the system and create their own Mem-

ber Webpage for increased exposure; enhance their business directory listing with much more content including photos and videos; publish important dates on the Com-munity Calendar; offer special Deals to the community to increase sales; promote Member to Member Deals to share discounts with fellow members; Post Job Opportu-nities to find qualified employees; and submit News Releases about your business or

organization. There’s even a social media-like feature that will enable you to com-municate with fellow chamber members. Another feature of this new system will enable you to view all the traffic you get through using these membership benefits. Members can see how many people click on

your advertisements through Chambermaster; how many people have searched for your business on Google; and how many click through you have gotten through being listed in our directory; which are all useful when tracking the investment of chamber membership.

Be on the lookout for an email explaining how to create your member log in!

A Word from the President - Beth Mignone

STEVE AND LISA GARDNER OF 3A-TRAVEL AGENCY ATTEND SANDALS RESORTS LUX-URY INCLUDED® WORSKSHOP IN HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK HAUPPAUGE, NY – STEVE AND LISA GARDNER of 3A-TRAVEL AGENCY participated in a comprehensive travel agent workshop to learn about the latest updates and the future of Sandals Resorts International (SRI), the parent company of Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts, Fowl Cay Resort and Island Routes Caribbean Adventures. Stemming off the company’s newest campaign, “When Everything’s Included, Don’t Worry About a Thing”, GAME ON!! Workshop participants received a plethora of fresh materials to give them and their clients a closer look at the brands. Attendees also discovered more about recent developments in the resort company’s portfolio including the expansion of Sandals Barbados, Sandals La-Source Grenada Resort & Spa, and the much anticipated, over-the-water villas at Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island in Jamaica. Every attendee is also eligible to become a Certified Sandals Specialist (CSS), part of an elite group of travel agents recognized by the travel industry as experts in the world’s only Luxury Included® Resorts. The CSS program is the most powerful agent-supplier partnership in the industry, providing coveted benefits including access to exclusive marketing tools, bonus incentives, car wraps, familiarization tours and more. According to STEVE AND LISA GARDNER of 3A-TRAVEL AGENCY, these workshops are important opportunities to gain firsthand knowledge of these distinct brands. “My number one priority is ensuring my clients get the best value when choosing their travel destination,” said LISA GARDNER. “Through this program, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the Luxury Included Vacation experience and unique islands in the Caribbean. As a Certified Sandals Specialist, my clients can rely on my expertise when booking their next escape.” According to Gary Sadler, Senior Vice President of Sales for North America at Unique Vacations, Inc., an affiliate of the worldwide representatives for Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts, choosing to book with a CSS travel agent is one of the best decisions trav-elers can make. “Deciding where to spend hard-earned dollars and finding the perfect place to turn off and reconnect is not always an easy task,” said Sadler. “As a CSS agent, STEVE AND LISA GARDNER are equipped with the necessary tools to plan the ultimate va-cation for his or her clients. We congratulate STEVE AND LISA GARDNER on their dedication to serve their clients and this outstanding distinction. We look forward to working in tandem for years to come.” For more information contact Lisa 516.753.1515 xt. 1386 or [email protected]
