Member Spotlight

Rita’s Italian Ices

Rita’s Italian Ices has been in business for over 30 years. With loca-tions in 29 states, Rita’s is the largest Italian ice franchise in the coun-try. They’re also located in four countries.

John Jessup has been in the food industry for 40 years. He operat-ed a Rita’s Italian Ice franchise in Huntington Station for 10 years before deciding to relocate. John searched for a new location for two years and was so impressed with Farmingdale, he decided this was the perfect place to relocate. Not only did John decide to open the store, he built the entire store himself in seven weeks!

When asked what makes Rita’s Italian Ices different from other ice companies, John told us all of Rita’s ices are made on-site daily. This enables him to add the freshest fruit available to his ices.

In addition to ices, Rita’s also sells old-fashioned custard which is reminiscent of the Coney Island custards of the 1920’s and 30’s. These creamy and delectable custards are made with the finest quality ingredients – including egg yolks and butterfat – which makes for a superb frozen treat!

John takes great pride in his business and maintains the highest level of cleanli-ness in his store, equipment, and in the presentation of the store, to safeguard public health.

Rita’s Italian Ices is a seasonal business in Farmingdale, generally operating from March thru mid-October. We’re anxiously awaiting their return to business in March!

In addition to over-the-counter sales, Rita’s is also available for corporate events, off-premise catering, office parties and fundraisers. Call John at (516) 586-6780 for more information.
