Farewell Fr. EmilParish Bulletin June 12, 1994

Welcome Fr. Sid Figlia, SDB

Except from Parish Bulletin June 26, 1994

Father Sid was born in New York City in 1930. Although he was born in the north, he has deep roots in the south. His mother was born and raised in Gretna, LA. When she was a teenager the family moved to NY. He is a product of Catholic grammar school and public high school.

At the age of 18, he enlisted with a group of his friends in the Army. He served a three year enlistment prior to discharge.

He was then employed by an electronics firm for a period of four years. He then decided after a long period of discernment to fulfill a desire to study for the priesthood.

In 1956, he entered Don Bosco Seminary where he made his vovitiate, studied four years of philosophy and graduated with a B.A. In the following three years he was assigned as a teacher in Huttonsville, WV and Tampa, FL.

In 1964, he left to study theology in Italy and at the end of four years was ordained at the at the Pontifical College Jose-phinum in Columbus, OH.

Father Sid has held positions of Director, Principal, Financial Administrator, Dean of Students, & Associate Pastor (St. John Bosco, Woodmere) in different Salesian homes and educational Institutions from Boston, MA to Tampa, FL. Just before coming back to our parish he was assigned to St. Anthony of Padua in Elizabeth, NJ.
