PCAN Part 3 “What Do I Do Now?” November 21st, 9:30am—12noon
Come learn about safe ways to teach our daycare children to recognize abuse and what to do should they be placed in an abusive
situation. We will discuss internet safety and how to get our parents educated and involved in their child’s safety.
Challenging Behaviors December 5th, 9:30am—12noon
Come and join us as we dissect the actions and discuss the why and resolutions of challenging behaviors.

Friendly reminder:
Each registered family day care provider is required to complete at least 15 hours of training during the first six months of registration and at least 30 hours of training during each registration period. This training must include each of the following topics:
1. Principles of childhood development, including the ap-propriate supervision of children, meeting the needs of children enrolled in the program with physical or emotional challenges and behavior management and discipline;
2. Nutrition and health needs of children;
3. Child day care program development;
4. Safety and security procedures, including communica-tion between parents and staff;
5. Business record maintenance and management;
6. Child abuse and maltreatment identification and preven-tion;
7. Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care;
8. Statutes and regulations pertaining to child abuse and maltreatment; and
9. Education and information on the identification, diagno-sis and prevention of shaken baby syndrome

CACFP Tips For Excellence!
Menu & Attendance Sheets Be sure to fill
out your attendance sheet daily as you serve
each meal. Your menu can be filled out ahead of
time or daily as well. Only use Blue or Black ink,
NO Red ink or pencils. Remember to claim only
either 2 meals and 1 snack, or 2 snacks and 1
meal, for each child. SIGN Your CLAIM!!!
Increditable-ly Delicious Recipes
Turkey–n–Sweet Potato Shepard’s Pie (creditable lunch/supper just add bread & milk)
Ingredients: 1 ½ lbs sweet potatoes, peeled,cut,2 cloves garlic,¼ c. milk,½ tsp
salt,12oz uncooked gr turkey breast,½ c. chopped onion,1 ¼ c. coarsely
chopped zucchini,1 c. chopped carrots,½ c. frozen corn,¼ c. water,18oz tomato
sauce,2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce,2 tsp snipped or dried sage, 1/8 tsp black
pepper.
Directions: Preheat oven to 375. Cook sweet potatoes and garlic in lightly
salted boiling water 15-20 mins, drain. Mash mixture and gradually add milk
and salt until light and fluffy.Next, brown turkey and onion, drain. Stir in zucchi-
ni, carrots, corn, and water. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for
5 -10 mins or until tender.Add tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sage, and
pepper to turkey mixture; heat through. Spoon evenly into medium bowl. Spoon
mashed potato mixture on turkey mixture. Bake, uncovered, in oven 20-25
mins. Serve and enjoy!
