Time. Time is precious. Time is short. Time flies. I don't have time. Time is running out. We mustn’t waste time! How many times a day do we catch ourselves talking or thinking about time? Or, perhaps, often wishing we had more time? I know parents constantly look at their children and won-der, “How did my child grow up so fast? Where did the time go?” And then we catch our-selves begging, “Lord, please. Slow the passage of time.” Then, a day comes when the time of a person’s life comes to an end and, hopefully, after, and even in the midst of our grief, we are able to be grateful for the time we were able to share with that person. We remem-ber time. We relish time. We cling tighter to the time we, ourselves, have left because time, indeed, is short and so very precious. God has a lot to say about time in His word. Ecclesiastes chapter three is about time and embracing God’s beautiful gift of the time we are given in this life because, ultimately, our earthly time is finite. With God, however, there is hope of eternal time through His Son, Jesus Christ, so we need never fear death. We have and will constantly find ourselves expe-riencing the ever-changing seasons of life, as described in this chapter of Ecclesiastes (and so eloquently put into the song, “Turn! Turn! Turn!” by The Byrds), but we know God is the Sovereign Giver of time and it is He who dispenses both tasks and joy. He is also the Sovereign Worker who has determined an appropriate time for every occasion and activity. Although the play presented this evening is secular in nature, God uses all things for His good and we can certainly glean much Biblical truth from it’s message of saving time in our tasks, activities, and work in order to have time for that which we love the most. We must be mindful, though, to fix our eyes on the giver of time and not on time itself, for “with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day,” 2 Peter 3:8. Based on a true story set in the early 1920s, Cheaper by the Dozen is a beautiful, funny and, at times, heart-wrenching tale about time, as seen through the eyes of two of Frank and Lillian Gilbreth’s children, Frank Jr. and Ernestine. Frank Gilbreth Sr. was an advocate of scientific management and a pioneer of time and motion study. Both he and his wife were industrial engineers and efficiency experts who contributed to the study of industrial engineering in the fields of motion study and human factors. Frank Gilbreth Sr.’s goal was to find the most efficient way to do anything and everything by reducing the number of motions a person would have to make to accomplish a task, including menial duties such as washing dishes or even taking a bath. Why? To save time. For what? For what you love the most. We see Frank Sr. so focused on teaching his children the most efficient way to do things, and persistently pushing his children to learn more and learn it quickly with the hope of moving them through school and even skipping grades. Ironically, we see him losing what he so desperately wants to save…time. Frank Sr.’s life was cut short at the age of 55 when he suffered a heart attack in 1924 and died. And it’s here, reminiscing on the last part of Frank Sr.’s time on earth, that our play begins. So we hope you will sit back, relax and enjoy your time!

Rachel G. Brinley (Director , Set Designer , Costume Designer ) is truly hum-bled and blessed to have had such a tremendous opportunity to get her foot back in the theatre door. It’s been almost 5 years since the last show she directed, which was a one-act musical for VBS with her former church in Enterprise, AL. She graduated with a BA in theatre from Vanderbilt University in 2003 and, before her senior year at Vanderbilt, she spent a midsummer in Oxford, England at the British American Drama Academy where she studied under acting greats such as Fiona Shaw, Julian Glover, and Lynn Far-leigh. When she graduated she went onto pursue a semi-

professional acting career in Columbus. She performed with Actor’s Theatre of Columbus portraying the roles or Elmire in Tartuffe, the Princ(ess) in Romeo and Juliet, and the Courtesan in The Comedy of Errors. She also worked with Colum-bus Children’s Theatre where she portrayed Jadis in The Magician’s Nephew, the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Kissing Kate Barlow and other various roles in Holes. She gives all glory to God for allowing her to explore her talents and theatrical passions again in a Christian environment, which has kindled a flame she feared had burnt out long ago. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” 1 Peter 4:10. It is her prayer that she has indeed served this school, these students and their parents and teachers. Cheers and God bless! Heather Coyan (Fine Ar ts Director )3rd - 12th Grade Music, Choir and Band Heather Coyan graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Music Education from OCU in 2013. Prior to joining FCA, she taught K-4 general music and 5th and 6th grade band and choir at Madison Christian School. This is Mrs. Coyan’s first year at FCA. Mrs. Coyan was the musical director for Annie Jr., has directed three musicals for Turnpoint Kids and di-rected 7 elementary musicals from 2013 to present. One of her fa-vorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Kris Brake (Staff Member ) is the wife of Randy Brake and the mother of Katelyn, Jesse, Jordan, and Kolin. She is an FCA teacher who has been involved in the Fine Arts Department for 13 years. During these years, she has enjoyed

working with the students on productions such as The Diary of Anne Frank, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, The Sound of Music and Meet Me in St. Louis. Her favorite verse is Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”

Grace Smeltzer (Assistant Stage Manager ) is 16 years old and a Sophomore at FCA. This is her first production as the assistant stage manager, but she has been

in past FCA productions such as, Meet Me In St. Louis, “A Knight Of Laughs,” and “A Musical Variety Show.” She likes to read, write, and hang out with her friends. She would like to thank her family for putting up with her busy schedule, and Mrs. Brinley for giving her this opportunity. She has had a ton of fun with this whole show and hopes you enjoy it. “For you know the

grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he be-came poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich,” 2 Corinthians 8:9.

ST Audrey Hoag (Ernestine) is a Junior here at FCA. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 28:20, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” She would like to thank Director Brinley and the whole cast for everything they helped her with leading up to the play and for being such a fantastic group of people. Audrey's favorite memo-ries from the rehearsals of the play include all of the jokes around Caitlin and Luke in all of their scenes (AKA: "The Gilbreth Family Conspiracy”) and laughing until crying in almost every rehearsal. Some of Audrey's favorite things to do are read, watch Netflix, spend time with friends, and doing just about anything "Hamilton" related. Audrey is a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the "Knight Singers" (a singing group at FCA), and is an honors stu-dent. Hannah Hampton (Martha) is very excited to be in this production. Hannah is

15 years old and a Freshman here at FCA. She was raised in Car-roll, Ohio where she homeschooled through 8th grade. Besides thea-tre, Hannah is passionate about the outdoors, spending time with her horse, Simon, and other animals. She also enjoys practicing makeup and hanging out with friends. Some of Hannah’s favorite productions were A Christmas Story where she played Helen, Treasure Planet as Jim Hawkins, and Alice in Wonderland as the Cheshire Cat. Hannah dreams to travel in the future, go to college,

and have a career working with children or animals. Hannah finds conviction in her favorite James 1:2, “Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.” Hannah uses this verse to challenge herself to praise God in eve-rything. She thanks God for this chance to share her talents making people smile. Robert (Bobby) Leeper (Bill) - Bobby is a Senior this year at FCA. He has per-formed in various theatrical productions for his church and school. He loves mathematics and studying in the sciences, and he hopes to pursue a career serving others in the medical field after graduation. He played football for FCA and is currently in his final season of base-ball. He also played the saxophone for the high school band and has held roles of leadership among his classmates. Bobby’s favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” Finally, his secret weakness is the irresistible lure of peanut butter. Preston Randall (Fred) is a Senior here at FCA. Cheaper by the Dozen is Pres-ton’s first theatrical performance since his glory days in the elementary school plays many years ago. His favorite quote is JFK’s “Do not pray for an easy life,

but pray to be a stronger man.” Preston hopes to attend college to pursue a career in engineering after graduating this year.

Kolin Brake (Dan), a 6th grader, is the son of Randy and Kris Brake. Kolin has been involved in several dramas and musicals throughout the years at FCA and his church. Last year Kolin played a Wickersham Broth-er in the FCA production of Seusical Jr. Kolin also plays football and basketball. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:12, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” Seveyah Coyan (Lillian) is the daughter of Brian and Heather Coyan. Seveyah

attends FCA and is in 5th grade. She plays the violin and enjoys painting. Seveyah’s prior stage performances include the musicals Annie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Aloha Christmas. One of the Bible verses that encourages her is Galatians 6:9 which says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Ryder Snoke (Jackie) is a 3rd grader here at FCA. This is his first

production and he has always been interested in art and drama. One of his great-est aspirations is to be cast in a Star Wars movie. He would like to thank his grandma for helping make his costume and his family and friends for all of their support. His favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 6:10-11, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Lucas Brinley (Jackie Too) is a 1st grader here at FCA. This is his first theatrical performance; although, his mother might argue with that as every-day has plenty of drama. Also, in the spirit of firsts, this is the first time he has had

to work with his mom as something other than “Mom.” Lucas enjoys math, baseball, archery, wrestling with anyone he views as a viable opponent (namely, any boy in this cast), playing video games and Uno, eating, and making his baby brother laugh because no one can do it like he can. His favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:20, “Children, obey your parents in all things.” He tries, but it’s really hard sometimes. Boys will be boys, right? Sheesh!

Miles Ralph (Larry) is a Senior at FCA. This is his first FCA performance and his first foray into drama. His hobbies include football and track & field. He is at-tending Wright State next year to study biological sciences. His favorite Bible verse is James 2:26, “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”

Alicea’s favorite verse is Proverbs 13:3 which says, “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.” Corey Sollie (Joe Scales) is in the 2018 graduating class at Fairfield Christian

Academy. He plays football, runs track, and plays the guitar. He played two roles in the school production his freshman year in scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean and High School Musical. Corey’s life verse is Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the pre-sent nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Goose Hoag (Gilbreth Dog) is making her stage debut. She is a nine-year-old mix breed rescue dog. She loves to go for runs through the woods and sleep on the couch. Goose is a master of puppy eyes and begging for food, for which she will gladly shake your hand.
