Course Summary SATAC COURSE CODE 1GC017 (CSP) 1GC517 (FULL-FEE) CAMPUS CASUARINA MODE INTERNAL, MIXED, EXTERNAL DURATION 0.5 YRS F/T, 1 YR P/T SEMESTER INTAKE S1 Graduate Certificate of Coaching Science (UCOAS1) COURSE OUTLINE Graduate Certificate of Coaching Science will enable persons interested in the science of coaching to undertake a course of study to specialise in the discipline of coaching science. In today’s world of professional, semi-professional and high performance amateur sport, additional understanding is required to integrate the complex mix of exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor skill learning, sport psychology, talent identification and so on that result in human sport performance. The graduate certificate would enable the students to integrate these diverse knowledge and skill domains to optimally prepare athletes in training and for competition. The course compliments coaching qualifications gained through sports associations. Graduates will be employable in a variety of areas including sports development, fitness industry, personal training, sports coaching and community recreation programs focused on sport across all age groups. Delivered on campus in the Northern Territory and in external delivery mode, the course provides the opportunity to study disciplines related to exercise, sport and physical performance. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates have diverse employment opportunities in fitness and sport industries. They consult, test, prescribe and administer programs in sport coaching settings, as well as coach, train and apply physiology, psychology, biomechanics and motor skill learning principles to a broad range of human physical performance settings. COURSE STRUCTUREThe Graduate Certificate of Coaching science is designed to enable persons interested in the science of coaching to undertake a course of study to specialise in the discipline of coaching science. The course will integrate the complex mix of exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor skill learning, sport psychology, talent identification and so on that result in human sport performance. The graduate certificate would enable the students to integrate these diverse knowledge and skill domains to optimally prepare athletes in training and for competition.

The course consists of three core units.
