Support the Monks Protest in Burma / Mynmar

The recent protests against the regime began in September 2007 led by a group of monks.

On September 19th a Canadian college student named Alex Brookbinder created a Facebook called “Support the Monks” Protest in Burma. Within 10 days it attracted 140,000 members. Membership hit over 500,000.

The facebook group had organised two days of Global Action on October 6th and October 23rs. These events were carried out over 100 cities; over 10,000 protesters in London alone.
