•PROS

•Increases current capabilities of the Left (Fwd) CVRS Recorder from 2 recording options (LDDI and HUD) to 3 options (LDDI, HUD and FLIR).

•Dual recording of FLIR provides redundancy for FLIR BDA.

•Eliminates problems experienced with current DDI/Camera configuration (Glare, Poor Lighting, Camera Alignment, DDI Failure, Etc.).

•Auto-HUD override switch added to allow the pilot to select whether the the HUD will override the LDDI or HUD during weapon release functions.

•Easy assembly, 90% of the work should be able to be done right in the work center (Mod could be in a kit form for the fleet, just pop it in).

•Mod would be easy to remove, for temporary testing/installs.

•Should be easy to get flight clearance, judging from what was previously recommended (pulling windscreens and cheek panels).

•Minimal Cost.

•CONS

•The raw Black/White FLIR video may not really gain much for quality.

•Need an old monitor or scan rate converter to view the video with the current playback station configuration.

•FLIR VIDEO SPLITTER CABLE

•Allows the FLIR input video to go to both the SMS Computer and the Video Controller:

•The short legs split the regular FLIR input cable to the SMS J/P6 (61J/P-F001F).

•The long leg routes to the NAVFLIR bulkhead jack (61J-L272) in 13R, the current connector (61P-F272) will be temporarily stowed.

•Another short cable will run from 61J-L272 in the Aft Upper Equipment Bay to the Video Controller connector (79P-L042B Pin 1), the current connector (61J-L272) in the Aft Upper Equipment Bay will also be temporarily stowed.

•This temp install utilizes the NAVFLIR bulkhead connectors for easy access into the pressurized cockpit area.

•This is not intended as a permanent wire routing solution.

•No actual aircraft wiring is affected.

•VIDEO SELECT SWITCH

•Allows pilot to select LDDI/HUD/FLIR.

•Restore aircraft wiring similar to the way it was prior to the AFC-207, per 770-500 WP6 02 Pg 6 and WDM-010 D401. Remove splice (S002) and reconnect wires to only connect 79P-L042A pins 26/28 to 52P-H320 pins 7/6 respectfully.

•Install the new DP/DT/3POS switch and rewire panel (79S-H053), similar to 770-300 WP14 02, Pg 7.

•Factory Installed CVRS (Lot 17 and Up) aircraft will require the Blue Wire (52P-H320 Pin 7 to 79P-L042A Pin 26) to be installed. All other aircraft have the required wiring in place.

•HUD MODE SWITCH (SHOWN IN RED)

•Allows pilot to select either Auto-HUD or O/R-HUD.

•AUTO provides the common functionality to allow the HUD to automatically record vice the selected LDDI or FLIR, during weapon release functions.

•ORIDE allows the pilot to disable the the Auto-HUD function and force the recorder to record the selected feature (LDDI and FLIR), during weapon release functions.

•Reuse the old Video Select Switch (DP/ST/2POS) from above.
