The history of football in Poland started in the late 19th century with the rising popularity of the new sport. At the time, the Polish state was partitioned. The first decades of Polish football are therefore connected with the history of Football in Austria.The first Polish football clubs were Lechia Lwów , Czarni Lwów, Pogoń Lwów, Resovia Rzeszów , Cracovia and Wisła Kraków. The Polish National Footbal Federation, called PZPN, was founded on 20th December 1919 in Warsaw when 31 delegates elected Edward Cetnarowski as the first president.

Football Association FIFA, the Polish representation at the Olympic Games in Paris 1924.20 April 1923 the Polish Football Association was officially adopted in the structure of the organization, and already in 1924 the first Polish National Team took part in the Olympic football tournament in Paris. In the only match they played they loose against Hungary.

The first trophy received Wisła Kraków after a victory over Sparta Lions. Another edition of the Polish Cup was conducted in 1951. On 15th January 1928 Football League became an autonomous member of the football panel.
