ILA Magnifiers

ILA magnifiers are high-quality, affordable aids housed in beautiful, easy-to-operate white cases with red detail. Their acrylic aspheric lenses provide distortion-free magnification and are enhanced by LED bulbs that provide bright light. The bulbs last approximately 10 years with normal use and the batteries (NI) last 10 times longer than with conventional bulbs. Both the on/off switch and the battery compartment have been ergonomically designed for comfort and ease of use. Magnifiers come with protective pouches. ILA gives the original purchaser a one-year warranty against defects in workmanship and material.

Securely packed in a handsome attaché case, the Zimmerman Simulation kit contains lenses and funnels to use when demonstrating how a patient with a vision impairment sees. The kit contains four welder’s goggles with four acuity loss lenses (approximate simulations of 20/70, 20/200, 20/400 and 20/600), three funnels which simulate peripheral field loss (tunnel vision) of 3, 7 & 10 degrees (approximately), and other lenses which simulate macular degeneration, cataracts, retinal detachment, and hemianopsia. Also included are occluder lenses which are used to eliminate ambient light. This is an excellent resource for vision care professionals and educators.

Fresnel Magnifiers

Fresnel magnifiers can have larger dimensions than acrylic magnifiers,

with a maximum magnification of 2X, or double the size of the

letters. We offer framed and unframed, rigid, durable lenses or flexible lenses that can be bent to

read a rounded surface. Since they cover more area, they are excellent

for reading paragraphs without moving the magnifier.

A monocular is a miniature, low-powered telescope or spotting scope that you hold in your hand like a binocular but use with one eye like a telescope. A monocular shares characteristics with both binoculars and spotting scopes but is much smaller than either. Size is really what a monocular is all about. When should you choose a binocular instead of a monocular? If you need to take a long look or scan an area, go with a binocular. Using two eyes, as with a binocular, produces less eyestrain than using one eye. Using two eyes also improves your visual acuity. For this reason, a monocular is not a substitute for a binocular when the action turns serious.

Video magnifiers enable individuals with low-vision or visual disabilities to participate in everyday activities, improving their quality of life. With the help of these low-vision reading aids, daily routines such as reading a newspaper, writing checks or letters and looking at photographs become easy again. Choose from portable, desktop, or camera models. Portable Video Magnifiers are small, self-contained electronic magnifiers that are powered by rechargeable batteries or AC/DC current. They display the images in true color or various color combinations to suit individual vision needs. Desktop Video Magnifiers, also known as CCTV's, feature a camera mounted over a tray on which the material to be magnified is placed. Some have a built-in monitor and are known as "stand-alone" magnifiers. Others are designed to connect to a television or personal computer. This tray can be moved from side to side or forwards and backwards in order to position the desired part of the material directly under the camera. Magnifying Cameras come in the form of a stand-alone unit or in the form of a computer mouse. Magnifying LampsMagnifying lamps make all the difference for individuals with low-vision.
