pointing out that Adriatic Fair is marking its 50th anniversary next year and the prime celebration ceremony will be organised during the jubilee of the 40th Civil Engineering Fair. Moreover, a proposal was put forward to hold a CEFA event during that period. 24th Tirana International Fair The bringing together of CEFA members this autumn was hosted by Mr Luan Muhametaj, President and Elona Agoli, Director of Klik Ekspo Group, organisers of the 24th Tirana International Fair, the largest trade fair in Albania. This event brings together companies involved in all branches of the economy and provides opportunities for meetings between manufacturers, retail chains, importers and distributors from Albania. The members of the CEFA Board of Directors attended the opening

ceremony of the 24th International Fair, which was ceremonially opened by the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr Edi Rama. During the opening ceremony and the reception held at the Presidential Palace (formerly the Royal Palace), the Executive Director of Adriatic Fair, Rajko Bujković, Ph.D, Assistant Professor, met and talked with the Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mr Blendi Klosi,

the Minister for Entrepreneurship Protection, Sonila Qato and the President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Albania, Ines Mucostepa. Hence, an overview of the activities performed by the Adriatic Fair was provided, highlighting the important jubilee that will be marked next year, as well as opportunities for co-operation.

Adriatic Fair representatives provided an overview of their activities in front of a large number of exhibitors and visitors to the Belgrade-based Fair, aiming to revive the market and motivate potential participants, and in order to present the Events Calendar for 2018, which is also the jubilee

year during which the Budva-based Adriatic Fair marks its 50th anniversary. The International Furniture Fair (UFI member) provided an opportunity for the presentation of the overall wood industry – from primary wood processing to the manufacture of final products. This event also includes interior design, as well as the promotion of all accompanying programmes – producers of all intermediate materials and machinery used in furniture manufacture. The event was redesigned, and achieved breakthrough results concerning two aspects – from the conceptual aspect through

the highlighting of design-oriented companies, as well as from the business aspect through increasing visitor turnout by introducing the Hosted Buyer Programme. Most exhibitors, primarily in the segment of design-oriented companies, expressed their interest and preparedness to participate in the 42nd Furniture Fair in Budva, which will be held from 11th to 15th April 2018.

ADRIATIC FAIR DELEGATION IN DISCUSSIONS WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT, HIS EXCELLENCY ABDERAHMAN SALAHELDIN ABDERAHMAN

On 10th November 2017 was the signing of a Co-operation Agreement in the field of culture, between the Montenegrin government and the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Cetinje. The Agreement was signed by His Excellency the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abderahman Salaheldin Abderahman and the Managing Director of the Directorate for Cultural and Artistic Creativity at the Ministry of Culture, Dragica Milić. The Agreement provides the framework for wide ranging co-operation. Hence, it includes plans in the field of music, ballet, theatre, cinematography, literature and visual arts, amongst others. Moreover, it focuses on the encouragement of exchange of artists, artistic ensembles and events. Cultural heritage has been recognised as an important domain for an exchange of knowledge, information and

experiences. Following the signing of the Agreement, the Ambassador Abderahman Salaheldin Abderahman delivered a lecture that addressed the issue of Egyptian culture and tourism. During a conversation with Adriatic Fair representatives, concerning whether we could expect a presentation and participation of Egyptian companies at Fair events, the Ambassador pointed out as follows: “The Agreement that we have just signed practically undertakes the involvement in the exchange of exhibitions of this type, and I am convinced that Budva will play a significant role in this. I have paid a private visit to Budva with my wife and I am truly delighted. I believe these exhibition events have the potential to attract both local visitors and tourists who arrive in Budva for their summer holidays. I am planning to organise exhibitions in the fields of culture and arts, as well as commercial

exhibitions. I believe trade between us needs to be further developed. We are working on establishing a sea route between the port of Bar and the port of Alexandria, and are hoping to see trade shows in both countries once we have achieved this objective”. “During our conversations with the Montenegrin officials, we have already emphasised that an Egyptian exhibition here in Montenegro is required in the near future, even with facsimiles, primarily aiming to target young generations, in order to give them the opportunity to meet and become acquainted, as well as to encourage people to learn more about others. Furthermore, we are working on the organisation of Montenegrin exhibitions in Egypt”.

His Excellency Abderahman Salaheldin Abderahman and Dragica Milić

TO THE FAIR WITH SUCCESS No. 131

· Manuals and professional literature normally insist and focus on the specific objective of participation at Fairs. One occasionally comes across advice to define the specific objective of exhibiting at trade shows. Could you help us to find our

way in this extremely important segment of preparation for a trade fair?

· Firstly, I suggest you to use the plural. Hence, you need to define the specific objectives, as there are normally more than one. If you have a prepared list of objectives, you need to use it when decision- making concerning your trade fair participation, as well as for an assessment of achieved goals, in your future decisions about a potential absence from a trade fair

or during decision-making about participation in other trade shows.

· You are talking about a LIST of objectives. Does this list need to be in writing, in an electronic form?

· Exactly, do have it at your exhibition stand, both in your laptop and in printed form (preferably on coloured paper). Use this list of objectives repeatedly, from time to time, so you and your exhibition stand staff can continuously focus on the specific objectives.
