Bryant 2U: Executive Advice for Aspiring Leaders Todd Gustafson’86 Vice President, Printing and Personal Systems Group, United States Hewlett-Packard Todd Gustafson is HP’s vice president of U.S. Public Sector Sales for the Printing and Personal Systems organization in the United States.. This organization has responsibility for US Federal, Higher Education, K-12 Education, State and Local governments, and Federal System integrators. From 2006 to 2012, Mr. Gustafson was Vice President Personal Systems Group (PSG) Commercial Solutions organization. Previously, from 2001 to 2006, he was the Vice President of US Workstation sales. Prior to those posts, Mr. Gustafson held leadership roles in Channel Sales, Direct Sales, and ISV Marketing. Todd began his career at HP in 1987 and held a variety of positions including Channels Sales, Major Account Manage- ment, New Account Development, ISV Account Management and Region Management. During the past 10 years Todd has led a US-Wide organization which has consistently led the market in growth in units, revenue and profitability. Mr. Gustafson’s current responsibilities include P&L ownership, strategic financial plans, product and technology strategies, sales force strategy and structure, and customer and partner relationships. Mr. Gustafson has a proven track record for developing and leading talented and motivated organizations focused on tangible goal achievement. Professor Michael A. Roberto, Trustee Professor of Management and Director of the Center for Program Innovation at Bryant University Professor Roberto joined the tenured faculty at Bryant after serving for six years on the faculty at Harvard Business School. Professor Roberto has written two books: Why Great Leaders Don't Take Yes For An Answer (2 nd edition published in May 2013), and Know What You Don’t Know, published in 2009. The first edition of Why Great Leaders was named one of the top 10 business books of the year by The Globe and Mail, as well one of the best 30 business books of the year by Soundview Executive Book Summaries. Professor Roberto also has created two best-selling courses for The Teaching Company (The Art of Criti- cal Decision Making, 2009 and Transformational Leadership, 2011). Professor Roberto's research focuses on strategic decision-making processes, senior management teams, and the dynamics of organizational failures. Professor Roberto has taught in the leadership development programs and consulted at a number of firms including Target, Apple, FedEx, Disney, Morgan Stanley, Coca-Cola, Gannett, Mars, Wal-Mart, Siemens, and Union Pacific. He also has presented at government organizations including the FBI, NASA, EPA, and TSA. Professor Roberto received an A.B. with honors from Harvard College in 1991. He earned an M.B.A. with High Distinction from Harvard Business School in 1995, graduating as a George F. Baker Scholar as well as his D.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 2000. Moderator Brenda L. (Casey) Curran ’86 Vice President, Information Technology, State Street Corporation Brenda leads the IT Lean Management Office working across State Street’s global technology organization of more than 3,000 employees to drive the adoption of Lean thinking, practices and process improve- ment. She manages a team with a portfolio of Lean process improvement projects that have improved cycle time, improved quality, increased capacity and reduced risk across the Information Technology or- ganization. She also is a key contributor to corporate wide Lean strategy. Brenda has been at State Street for 23 years and has held a variety of leadership positions. She started her career at the company in mutual fund operations and client service management. She transitioned into Information Technology as a product manager for State Street’s first externally sold software product and grew the product with cus- tomized installations for over 2,000 mutual funds. She was a department head in Business Project Ser- vices and improved technology capability for Europe and US Accounting until she was selected to join an IT Optimization initiative in a CEO sponsored Strategy Development Office. Later, in IT Strategy and Glob- alization, she drove IT wide strategic planning processes resulting in initiatives planned to save more than $80 million annually. Matthew J. Putvinski ‘95, CPA, CISA, CISSP Partner and Director

Wolf & Company, P.C.’s Information Technology (IT) Assurance Services Matt is a Partner and Director of Wolf & Company, P.C.’s Information Technology (IT) Assurance Services group where he and his group provides guidance to clients around IT controls, information security, the development and implementation of critical technology processes, and strategic technology planning. Additionally, Matt is the Chief Information Security Officer for the Firm ensuring that Wolf & Company insti-tutes the same information security best practices we stress with our clients. Matt joined Wolf & Company, P.C. in 2000. Prior to joining Wolf, he worked with MEDITECH, a medical information technology com-pany, where he was responsible for the programming, implementation and support of medical information systems. Matt has 18 years of experience in the technology industry. Matt earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Account-ing from Bryant University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Audi-tor (CISA), and a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).

Adam B. Joffe ’93, ’95MBA Director of Alternatives and

Chief Administrative Officer for The Boston Company Asset Management, LLC Adam is responsible for alternative products and has executive management oversight over Operations and Distribution Support. He is a member of the firm’s management committee and investment committee. Adam joined The Boston Company in 2012 and has nearly 20 years of industry experience. Before joining The Boston Company, Adam was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at First Eagle Invest-ment Management. Adam spent 11 years at Deutsche Bank where his most recent position was COO of Hedge Funds and Fund of Funds as well as Head of US Business Management. Prior to that he held various roles including: CFO of Hedge Funds and Fund of Funds, Director, MIS and Strategic Planning, Global Business Controller and BAC Institutional Sales/Legal Entity Controller. Adam earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and an MBA in Accounting from Bryant University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, is a member of the CFA Institute and was a CPA in the State of Rhode Island.
