Background Information• "Watch the Sun Come Up" is a song by

British rapper Example. It is the first single from Example's second album: Won't Go Quietly and was released on 20 September 2009. Some of the lyrics from Watch the Sun Come Up were taken from Example's unreleased song, One Night from his 2006 mix tape “We Didn't Invent The Remix.”

• Upon release on the 20th September 2009, "Watch The Sun Come Up" first entered the UK Singles Chart at #20. The following week, the song rose to a new peak of #19, where it stayed for two weeks.

Initial Idea• Our initial idea is to have the whole music video as a “home video “ effect and it to start off

with the couple putting in a VCR with a white strip on the video saying “Watch the sun come up.” The home video will then begin and the camera will zoom into the TV which is when the music video will start and the TV will be green screened.

• The events of the narrative will begin and the male character will be miming. We also thought of the idea to have Polaroid pictures and have them green screened to make it seem as if they are moving. Also to contribute to the theme of time, we will have Calendar's with months on, and also green screen this so it as if a moving image.

The Music VideoOur music video will be both narrative and performance based, with a strong story line and subtle miming. We decided to have a theme of time to go along with our music video.

Characters• Our cast will consist of either two females and two males making up two couples or

just the single couple. The one/two females in the video, to make things easier, will be a member of our group and we are sticking to the conventions of a pop music video by having a love story line.

Costumes• The costume style of the characters will be modern as the song is quite up to date.

Different events happen in our music video, so the costumes will be different throughout. During the day, the characters will wear casual clothes, whereas at night they will wear more formal clothes. For example in the song it says “You and that red dress”. Therefore the girl will be wearing a red dress to correspond with the narrative.

The Music VideoIllustrations• There are a few lines that we will be playing along with the narrative. For example:• “Watch the sun come up” – Animated drawing of a sun rising or someone writing the words. • “Then the doorway beckoned” – Zooming into a doorway, with a jumpy effect.• “Turn back time” – A clock ticking, but reversed and sped up when editing. • “Sights and night skies and boats go by” – Filming by the river thames.• “I really should have missed that flight” – film a plane flying in the air.• “I really wanna look into your cat women eyes” – Close up shot of the girls eyes.
