Literacy/topicWatch the uploaded video on Tapestry of me reading ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’Then read it with a grown up on Twinkl– can you change your voice like I did? Now try and retell the story from what you can remember.

Discuss what you think about the characters? How would you describe them? How could the story have ended differently?

Discuss why Jack was wrong to steal. What does poor mean? Think about and discuss why you are fortunate.What would you like the beans to have turned into? What would you have liked to find at the top of the beanstalk? Would you climb it – why? Why not?What would you have done if you were Jack?

MathsOrder the beanstalks on the twinkl interactive game, disucss which is tallest, tall, medium, short and shortest.

Then using counters, cubes, paper clips, pasta tubes (anything of the same size) measure how tall the beanstalks are

Can you draw a beanstalk that is short, one that is medium and one that is tall?

Literacy/TopicDiscuss what you would like to see at the top of the beanstalk and write a short sentence e.g. ‘it is a….’ or ‘I can see a….’

Then have a spelling test– ask your child to spell the following tricky words with no help

Now can you complete the magic bean repeating patterns? Can you create your own pattern?

Literacy/TopicCreate a wanted poster for Jack and the Giant can you write some words to describe them? What colour hair do they have? Are they tall? What did they do wrong?

Day 4PhonicsFill in the missing letter for the sound you can hear that is missing

MathsCan you find how many of each object there are and write the number?

Underneath each picture write how many there are then add the 2 amounts together and write the total

Literacy/TopicWrite a short sentence about each charactere.g The Giant is mad

Day 5PhonicsSound and blend the words and find the matching picture.

MathsPractise your cutting skills by cutting out the leaves and putting them on the beanstalk in order

Then complete the subtraction tasks by climbing down the beanstalk to find the answer.
