  • Our concerns: Lord be with us in our waiting and longing as we journey through Advent. Lord we pray for wisdom in government, strength for our health service and hope for all people during this national lockdown. We pray for your healing and restoration to all those who are suffering in body, mind or spirit. We pray especially for those who are struggling with their mental health at this time. We pray for all students and teachers who are currently at high risk of catching the disease and facing hard rules to follow in their daily living. Grant us peace and joy in life with you Lord throughout this pandemic. We continue to pray for the staff and children of St Mary’s Infants and St James Primary School as they strive to teach and nurture our children. We pray for Scientists and researchers working around the world on the vaccine and better treatments for Covid-19. We pray for the production of the vaccine and its distribution and give thanks. We also pray for those struggling to cope with financial pressures because of the virus, for those people who have lost their jobs and those needing to use Foodbanks. For those who are unwell & those who have gone to their rest in you. Christians far and wide: We pray for Christians across the world who live with the fear of persecution. We pray for all religious leaders as they guide their communities through this pandemic. Diocesan Cycle of Prayer Woking, St peter, Westfield, St Mark & Sutton Green, All Souls Incumbent: Jonathan Thomas (Also Area Dean). Anglican Cycle of Prayer Lusitanian Church (Extra-Provincial to the Archbishop of Canterbury). The Rt Revd. Jorge Pina Cabral - Bishop of the Lusitanian Church Our nation and our world: We pray for our nation and all countries as they try to balance health needs against the economic needs, and the responsibilities to the people of good guidance and support. Our neighbours: All who live in Charles Hill, Milford Road, Pitch Place. We thank you for the community spirit and care for our neighbours which is present in our villages.

  • Revd Hannah writes: Advent is the time of waiting and hoping and longing for the promises of God to be fulfilled. This year there is a real sense of waiting and longing. We are waiting to see if we will be able to hug our loved ones this Christmas. We are waiting to find out what the restrictions might be regarding how many people can gather together. I am concerned that as a society we are longing so much for short term gains, being able to gather with our families, that we risk long term losses. As a family we are erring on the side of caution, so for only the third time in my life, I won’t be seeing my sister on Christmas day. Amidst the waiting and longing of Advent we can lose sight of the hope that Christmas offers. We need to remember that God came down, to a broken and hurting world, and stepped in to the mess with love, hope, light and peace.

Let us continue to pray for the Nation each day as encouraged by our

    Archbishops see www.churchofengland.org/PrayerForTheNation
