National Young Mathematicians Awards 2017- Regional finals!! Congratulations to our brilliant Year 6 pupils Temidire, Jameelah, Stephen and Antonis who took part in the first round of the National Young Mathematicians Award competition at Explore Learning, New Barnet on Thursday 9th November and did extremely well. As a result, we were delighted to hear that the children were invited back to take part in the regional finals on Wednesday 29th November. In their school team, the children were required to solve a multi-layered, high level problem against other schools in the local area. They were assessed on their ability to get to the root of the problem, to be systematic in their approach, to work as a team and to use reasoning skills to record their findings. The pupils did extremely well at the regional finals of the competition and we are really proud of them. Well done! (Mrs Ratip)

The RSPB collect used stamps to raise much needed funds for bird projects. Currently the

stamps are being sold to help raise money for the albatross.

Please could you send in any used stamps, not just Christmas stamps, making sure you

leave a good border around them so as not to damage the stamps.

These will be given to our local group. Thank you. (Helen Shore)

Foodbank collection extension If you would like to contribute to the foodbank, there is still time! The House and Vice Captains will be collecting food for the food bank for another week. (Linda Lauder and the House/Vice Captains)

Year 6 will once again be running a Christmas Postal Service as part of their enterprise project. They will have job roles which include, selling, collecting and delivering post. If your child wishes to send Christmas cards in the ‘Eversley Post’ they will need to buy stamps at a cost of 2p each. Christmas cards should have the name (and surname initial if more than one in the class) and class of the child they are for as well as a stamp on the envelope, otherwise they will not be delivered to the correct person!

The Eversley post office will be open from 8.45am-9.00am and from 11.15am-11.30am in the junior building. The service will run from Monday 4th December to Friday 15th December. Please bring in the correct money for the number of stamps required.

Infants may also order their stamps by completing the slip below and enclosing the correct amount of money in an envelope addressed to ‘Eversley Post’. Their stamps will then be delivered to their classrooms.

Cookery Club – January 2018 For ages 6 and up. The children will learn simple cooking skills, and cook a variety of interesting dishes with me each week. We will cover all the different food groups. They will learn about ingredients, and how to cook easy, healthy food. I currently teach in a number of schools in North London – where my lessons are popular and oversubscribed. I also run my own cookery school for adults. The lessons for the children will take place on Wednesdays (for beginners) after school, in the Training Room. All equipment and ingredients provided. There are only 10 places available in each class. Cost is £12 per lesson. Please register your interest with Samina at [email protected] as soon as possible.
