THE GRANARY is a Grade II listed red brick Georgian building that was built in 1807 for the River Stour Navigation Company. It was restored by the River Stour Trust in 1989 and is now a popular venue for a variety of functions including classes, meetings,
wedding ceremonies and receptions.The Riverside Tea Room at The Granary is
open on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from Easter to the end of October to support the boat trips operation. These services are run by volunteers with all proceeds going to the conservation of the River Stour Navigation.

THE LAVENHAM CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL & STREET FAIR will be bigger, better and busier than ever this year as, due to public demand, will be held across three days - December 6, 7 and 8.
The festive fun starts at 6pm on Friday with a celebrity switch-on when the Christmas tree in Market Place and the whole medieval village will be gloriously lit up with thousands of twinkling white lights.
The festival this year will have a Dickensian theme, with a prize for best costume, and organisers are asking all the stallholders and village shopkeepers to dress up and enter into the fun of a true traditional old-fashioned fair. Including shoppers - grown ups and children.
The festival’s organisers are planning to make this year more musical, too. They will be holding auditions for any singers, groups, musicians or buskers who would like to book a slot over the three days. Contact Sarah Rands on 07788 508520.
There will be more than 40 stalls in the Market Place and inside the Guild Hall, selling a variety of food, drinks, gifts, jewellery, clothing and Christmas specialities. Anyone wishing to rent a stall contact Carole Holland on 01787 247553.
And of course there will be delicious food and hot drinks to buy as you wander around the village.
The usual popular fairground carousel rides and swings will be in place, with other attractions for children, including Maggot the storyteller, donkeys in their Christmas manger, Father Christmas in his Grotto, and Charlie Cheesecake with his balloon animals. There will also be other festivities going on in the village over the three days.
The market and shops will be open until 8pm Friday and 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Every year the festival attracts hundreds of local people and tourists. It is a truly magical event set against the backdrop of the village’s magnificent medieval buildings. So come along and enjoy a taste of Christmas history in Lavenham.
