POWDERKEG

Powderkeg was a conference held in Indianapolis from 10/17-10/19. The event was founded by Matt Hunckler, President of The Verge and sponsored by Exact Target and various other sponsors.

A smashing success in it’s inaugural year, this 2.5-day event brought together entrepreneurs, developers and creatives from all over the country including San Francisco, St. Louis and Washington D.C.

Venues included the Startup Bowl at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Startup showcase and Ramp up party at the Crane bay and the Closing Party at Developer Town and Speak Easy.

The panel of 20 speakers included David Blaine – Professional Illusionist, Scott Case – Startup America CEO, Scott Dorsey – Exact Target CEO, Dave Knox – Co-founder at Brandery and Jonathon Perrelli - Founding Partner at Fortify.vc.

Microsoft Partnership

Microsoft participated in the Powderkeg 2012 event and the partnership included,

BizSpark enrollment for all 12 startups that pitched at PowderKeg

1:1 meetings and mentoring sessions with Sonal Mane during the event

Sonal Mane participated in the panel of judges at the Startup Bowl Pitch competition

Startup Bowl Pitch Competition

12 startups from around the country were selected from 62 startups that applied.

Startup Bowl pitch competition was held at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Startups were given live feedback from a panel of expert judges that included Ting Gootee of Elevate Ventures, Carla Valdes of Fortify, Sonal Mane of Microsoft, and Christopher Day of Navidar.

Voting bags were available on Oct 19th for the attendees to vote on the pitches.

The winner went home with all the glory AND $15,000 in cash and resources provided by sponsors.
