Enjoy an evening walk on the trails and watch the sunset. This members-only event is free, however registration is required.

Tree ID Made EasySaturday, September 7 | 9 – 11:30am | Visitors Center$10/members | $15/non-membersPhone apps and many books rely almost entirely on solitary leaf photos to identify an unknown tree, but these can’t always do the trick. Learn a simple scientific approach that yields more reliable results.

Sustainable Landscape Series: Butterfly Gardening with Native Plants KitsFriday, September 13 | 2 – 4pm | Red Barn Reserve$10/members | $15/non-membersDo you love monarch butterflies and want to help them? You can easily attract beneficial bees and other pol-linators to your garden by designing with native plantings! Learn what The Arboretum is doing to conserve these species through habitat restoration. Then stroll through habitats to net, tag and release wild monarch butterflies! Every participant takes home a native pollinator planting kit.

Shooting the Small Stuff: Macro Photography with Jim McCormacSaturday, September 14 | 9am – 3pm | Red Barn Reserve$25/members | $30/non-membersBring your cameras and learn how to shoot small subjects, also known as macro photography. A commonplace insect or plant, creatively interpreted through a macro lens, can yield exotic, photo-graphic artwork. We’ll discuss macro photography “rules” indoors, then head outside to practice on real life subjects.

Drawing Trees in CharcoalSaturday, September 21 | 9 – 11am | Zand Education Center$16/members | $20/non-membersLearn and practice fundamental drawing skills such as value, per-spective and drawing different textures. Experiment with versatile tools and techniques of the charcoal medium and apply them by creating a finished drawing of a tree at The Arboretum.

Granville Tree Crawl*Saturday, September 21 | 9 – 10am or 10:30 – 11:30am | Granville Farmers MarketFREEEnjoy one of two morning walks learning about trees in downtown Granville, recognized as a Tree City USA® by the Arbor Day Foundation. The walk will end back at the Farmers Market where you can shop, have coffee and enjoy lunch at one of the many downtown businesses. Special thanks to the Granville Chamber of Commerce for partnering with The Arboretum on this program.

Beginner Tai Chi ChuanSundays, September 22 – October 27 | 1 – 2pm | Visitors Center$55/members | $65/non-membersTai Chi is designed to help increase muscle and cardiovascular strength; help improve balance, joint flexibility and posture and support mental health. This class focuses on basic Tai Chi skills along with completion of the Modified Tai Chi Chuan Short Form (Yang Style). Basic warm-ups start the class with a new portion taught each week. Students should wear comfortable clothing and flat-soled shoes. Fee includes six sessions.

Intermediate Tai Chi ChuanSundays, September 22 – October 27 | 2 – 3pm | Visitors Center$55/members | $65/non-membersTai Chi is designed to help increase muscle and cardiovascular strength; help improve balance, joint flexibility and posture and support mental health. This class focuses on advanced warm-ups, the complete Modified Tai Chi Chuan Short Form (Yang Style) and additional Qi Gong exercises. to remove trash from the Licking River and its tributaries. Groups and individuals are invited to volunteer at one of a
