Message from the Principal.... Too often life passes us by and we suddenly realize that we let certain things be unimportant when they should have been very important. I think parents like to feel at a certain age their children should be able to be responsible and do their home work on their own. They shouldn't have to hover over them to make sure it gets done. This isn't a bad thought. It is idealistic, and I think the age of expectation gets younger and younger ........... We bring them into the world and we need to get them through life. Of course at a certain point we need to let them spread their wings..... but not before they can fly and that my friends isn't at the same age for every child. Your children should be greeted when you pick them up from school or when they come home from school. Ask them how they are and would they like a drink or a snack? Don't ask them if they had a good day? Don't jump in and ask did you behave today. Show a genuine interest in them as a person. Most likely once you do, they'll tell you about their day. Children should feel parents care about their school work and want to help them. No, that doesn't mean you have to accept they can't do anything; however, express in a positive way to them , you try and I'll be here to help you if you get stuck. Research shows involved parents make their children better students. Don't hover, just be there. Be supportive, compassionate, willing to help, willing to listen, willing to empathize, willing to praise. "Kids tend to succeed in school when parents are involved with their education and take an interest in their learning and progress. Don't control your children doing their work, encourage and support. Don't make it about grades, make it about progress in learning. Talk about your child's strengths and don't patronize them over their weaknesses. Don't focus on their failures, focus on their successes and encourage them to work hard on difficult things. Message from the Principal....

Too often life passes us by and we suddenly realize that we let certain thingsbe unimportant when they should have been very important.

I think parents like to feel at a certain age their children should be able to beresponsible and do their home work on their own. They shouldn't have tohover over them to make sure it gets done. This isn't a bad thought. It isidealistic, and I think the age of expectation gets younger and younger ...........

We bring them into the world and we need to get them through life. Of courseat a certain point we need to let them spread their wings..... but not beforethey can fly and that my friends isn't at the same age for every child.

Your children should be greeted when you pick them up from school or whenthey come home from school. Ask them how they are and would they like adrink or a snack? Don't ask them if they had a good day? Don't jump in and askdid you behave today. Show a genuine interest in them as a person. Mostlikely once you do, they'll tell you about their day.

Children should feel parents care about their school work and want to helpthem. No, that doesn't mean you have to accept they can't do anything;however, express in a positive way to them , you try and I'll be here to helpyou if you get stuck.

Research shows involved parents make their children better students. Don'thover, just be there. Be supportive, compassionate, willing to help, willing tolisten, willing to empathize, willing to praise.

"Kids tend to succeed in school when parents are involved with their educationand take an interest in their learning and progress. Don't control your childrendoing their work, encourage and support. Don't make it about grades, make itabout progress in learning.

Talk about your child's strengths and don't patronize them over theirweaknesses. Don't focus on their failures, focus on their successes andencourage them to work hard on difficult things. "www.verywellfamily.com/school"

Pre-K News

Oh what fun Pre K has been having as we finish the alphabet and discover colorsand textures! Painting with yarn, digging for worms, planting flowers, and melting

crayons are just a few of the wonderful things we are doing in Pre K. We are about tobegin our Spring lessons, and soon we will learn the wonderful stages of a Butterfly.

This is not only a scientific teaching moment but a symbolic lesson for the season asour little pre K’ers are getting ready to morph into Kindergarten. As we close out the

last few weeks of the school year, we are very eager to share in such specialmoments as we transform together and prepare for the next fun stage.

MIDDLE SCHOOL LAG B'OMER TRIP!

Middle school enjoyed a fabulous, informative trip to Savannah’s Fire Station 7 thispast Friday in honor of Lag B'omer. It is customary to light bonfires on Lag Baomer, reminiscent of the Torah that “lit up” our world during the time of the great RabbiShimon Bar Yochai, who passed away on Lag Baomer. The firefighters gave us an extensive lesson on fire safety, and showed us the detailsof their important jobs.

Thank you, Fire Station 7!

We ended the trip with a picnic lunch across the street at the Botanical Gardens!
