Research question 1: ’Can we assess and express the social and cultural value of Europeana 1914-1918 service, in a way that it is structured & quantifiable but without losing sight of the less tangible but equally valuable qualitative aspects?’
Research question 2: ’Can we use this research in a way that we can turn this into a useful impact assessment tool for Europeana and its partners?’
What do we mean by Community? “The value derived from the experience of being part of a community that is related to the service.”
What do we mean by Legacy? “The value derived from the ability to pass forward, or receive digital resources between generations and communities. ”
What do we mean by Utility? “The value or benefit gained by a person through the active use of a digital resource at a point in time.”
What do we mean by Learning? “The value derived by a person from their ability to formally or informally learn from a digital resource and the difference that this makes makes to a person’s sense of culture, education, knowledge and heritage”
What do we mean by Existence? “The value gained from knowing that a digital resource exists, regardless of it it has been used or not, and cherished by a community.”
