conferencebooklet
EuropeanMortarSummit2015 Lisbon - 21st / 22nd May 2015
SUMMIT 2015 | 2
Responding to the feedback from previous
events, this year’s Mortar Summits hosts a
conference with paper presentations on the
first day (afternoon) and a topical congress on
the second day (morning). Taking place over
two days and addressing a broader range of
potential participants, the Mortar Summit is
aimed at facilitating networking with clients,
colleagues and experts. To this it also
provides an exhibition area located between
the conference rooms for our exhibition
partners to interact with participants and
present their companies and products. EMO
and its local member APFAC are expecting
approx. 120 participants from the mortar
and related industries as well as e.g.
research facilities.
We wish you a nice stay in Lisbon and an
interesting time at the Summit!
Welcome to the European Mortar Summit 2015 in Lisbon!

About EMO
The European Mortar Industry Organisation (EMO)
emerged from an initiative of European mortar
manufacturers. Mortar in this respect is the general
term for a wide range of products and applications
such as masonry mortars, repair mortars, plasters
& renders, adhesives and screeds. Many of the
companies associated with EMO are also
manufacturers and suppliers of thermal insulation
composite systems (ETICS). Today EMO has
members from 13 European countries and
represents in total 43 mio t/a of mortar production
capacity, with a turnover of over 6.000 mio Euro.
EMO’s aim as an association is a coordinated
and positive representation of the interests of the
European mortar and thermal insulation composite
systems (ETICS) industry, both in technical as well
as in legislative matters. To this EMO contributes to
the work of technical (standardisation) committees,
seeks the exchange and co-operation with other
stakeholders and provides its views and expertise to
the European Commissions, the European Parliament
and Council in support of European legislation.

About APFAC
The Portuguese Association of Mortar and ETICS
Producers (APFAC) was established in 2001 and
has ever since been an EMO member. APFAC’s 18
members cover the full spectrum of the industry, from
large to small producers, national and multinational
companies, producing all types of mortars (dry and
wet) and ETICS. In Portugal, APFAC’s members
represent a market share of above 90 % in mortars
and 80% in ETICS. APFAC engages in different mortar
and ETICS activities like conferences and seminars
and is active in standardization committees.
A major aim has been establishing a wide network of
cooperation with universities, national laboratories,
authorities and other related associations. Outside
Portugal, APFAC maintains an intense cooperation
with Brazil, through the Brazilian Mortars Association
(ABAI) and a numerous group of Universities.
