European MiFID Template (EMT) 3.0 MiFID data - the beacon of investor product selection

Since January 2018, EMT has been successfully used to standardise the fl ow of in-formation on the target market, distribution strategy and costs & charges between product manufacturers and distributors. While EMT 1.0 is still being used on 10 December 2019, FinDatEx and members of the FinDatEx Steering Group validated and endorsed the new EMT 3.0 template with a one-year transition period until 10 December 2020. EMT 3.0 allows individual section updates: Target Market Data, Ex Post Costs and Ex Ante Costs as each section now contains a record date.

The target market Investor Type, Knowledge & Experience and Client Ability to Bear Losses sections use hierarchical logic.

All ongoing cost disclosures (ex-ante and ex-post) must be reported in annualised terms regardless of the time of existence, even if the reporting period is shorter.

Field 05105_Intended_Compatible_With_Clients_Having_ESG Preferences has been added to the Client Objectives & Needs section (OFEM051050 EMT Compatible With ESG Preferences).

All negative costs are reported using a minus sign “-“

Field 00120_Ex_Post_Cost_Calculation_Basis_Italy has been specifically added for products distributed in Italy to disclose ex- post calculation bases (OFEM001200 EMT Ex-post Cost Calculation Basis For Italy).

Use of value “99.99” has now been discontinued.

Field 07105_Financial_Instrument_Borrowing_Costs_Ex_Ante_UK has been specifically added for products distributed in the UK to disclose the borrowing cost (OFEM071050 EMT Ex-ante Borrowing Costs UK).
