Transport and Operating Conditions

Transport and StorageFor long time storage it is recommended that the emergency stop button is activated (pushed in). The lifter can be stored and transported under temperatures between -25 - 70 °C.

OperatingThe lifter is designed for use at standard room temperatures (+5 to +40°C).Air Pressure: 70 - 106 kPaRelative Humidity: 15 - 93 %Following storage or transport at other tempera-tures leave the lifter in a room with a suitable temperature until it reaches a safe operating temperature.

Medical electrical equipment requires special precautions regard-ing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Portable or mobile radio communication equipment may affect the medical electrical equip-ment, and should be kept minimum 25 cm (10 inches) from the lifters electronics.

Batteries

Etac Nova 500NG is equipped with two 12V, 2.9Ah Lead Acid batteries. The batteries are to be replaced after approximately 4 years or earlier, dependent on the pattern of use. Frequent and high-powered discharges reduce the battery life.

Used batteries must be disposed of as special waste according to local rules and regulations. Do not dispose in general waste

Battery and Handcontrol indicator

There are two LEDs (indicator lights) on the electrical box.

The bottom light is green and indicates hand control activation, also lit when connected to the mains. The top light is yellow and indicates that charging is in progress. The indicator will blink during charging and change to a constant yellow light when fully charged.

Buzzer indications from electrical box:Battery: If the battery is low the buzzer will sound constantly when the hand control is activated.

Overload: Will beep twice if the actuator is over-loaded, current will be cut-off and the actuator will stop. The actuator can be started again when the overload is removed.

Overheated: Will beep twice if overheated, current will be cut-off and the actuator will stop. The actuator can be started again when the temperature has returned to normal.

Charging (Integrated charger)

The batteries must be charged at least every 3rd month, otherwise they will be damaged due to self-discharge. For an optimum lifetime the product must be charged as often as possible. We recommend charging every night. The emergency stop button must not be depressed during charging.

Park the lifter and connect Power cord to a wall socket to charge the battery. Take care not to damage the cable.

The sit-to-stand lift can not be used during charg-ing. The battery must not be charged in a damp environment, e.g. a bathroom.

If the sit-to-stand lift does not function as expected, even though the battery is fully charged, this may be due to the battery’s lifetime having been exceeded. If this is the case, the battery should be replaced.

Transfer

Plan the lifting operation in advance to ensure that it is as safe and smooth as possible. Remember to work ergonomically. Assess the risks and take notes. The assistant is responsible for the safety of the user.

Using Slings

It is important that the sling has been tested with the individual user and for the intended lifting situation.

Read User Manual for the sling prior to use.

Do not to use damaged or badly worn slings.

Slings made by other manufacturersWe recommend only using Molift slings. Etac shall not be liable for faults or accidents that can occur when using slings made by other manufacturers.

Lifting and lowering

When moving the user, stand to the side of the person you are lifting. Make sure that arms and legs do not obstruct the seat, bed, etc. Keep eye contact with the user to help them feel safe.

Extend the width of the wheel base prior to lifting using the button for base width adjustment on the Hand control.

The brakes are primarily used for park-ing. Never use the brakes when the user is being lifted or lowered.

NB! The wheels of the object the user is being lifted from or into must be in the locked position.

1. Check that the sling is correctly fitted around the user and that the strap loops are correctly fitted to the suspension hooks.

2. Make sure user has both feets placed firmly on the footplate on the lifter and the strap on leg support is properly fastened around users leg.

3. Stretch the sling straps without lifting the user. Ensure that both loops of the sling are securely fastened to avoid the user slipping or falling.

4. Make sure the buckle is properly fastened5. Lift user to standing postition. Tighten and

adjust the waist belt if necessary.

Never lift a user higher from the starting point than what is neces-sary to carry out a sit to stand transfer.

Page 12: Etac Nova 500NG - Etac - Creating possibilities ·  · 2016-10-18Motor / Actuator Emergency stop Legs Electric emergency ... 3 Etac Nova 500NG / ... lifter to be operated if the

Transfer

The user must lean back slightly when lifting, and if possible hold onto the handles. The waist belt should be retightened when lifting begins and when the sling is loaded. The user should not stand fully upright during the transfer because this is uncomfortable.

Avoid deep pile carpets, high thresholds, uneven surfaces or other obstacles that may block the cas-tors. The lifter may become unstable if forced over such obstacles increasing the risk of tipping over.

The sit-to-stand lift should be pulled when mov-ing. This makes movement as smooth as possible for the user, while at the same time, the assistant is subjected to the least possible strain. The assistant must always ensure that lift movement is stable and that there is no risk of the lift tipping over. Push or pull the lift smoothly and carefully. Rapid movements are not only unpleasant for the user but in the event of a sudden stop could also constitute a safety hazard.

Never leave a user unattended in a lifting situation.

The lifter shall not be used to lift or move users on sloping surfaces
