Inpharma 1225 - 19 Feb 2000 ■ Estrogen replacement therapy appears beneficial for survivors of endometrial cancer, according to the results of a US-based study which was presented at the 31st Annual Meeting of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, held recently in San Diego, California, US. The study involved 75 such patients who chose to receive estrogen and 75 matched controls who were not receiving estrogen. There was no significant difference between the number of estrogen users and nonusers who experienced recurrences (2 vs 11 patients, respectively). The median disease-free interval was significantly longer in estrogen users, compared with nonusers (82 vs 63 months, respectively); this group also had a significant survival advantage.
