chool of Management Sciences (SMS), Varanasi completed Stwenty-one years of its existence in Varanasi on 10th November, 2016 and celebrated the occasion ADHARSHILA-2016 with great

pomp and show. Inaugurating the foundation day celebrations, the Chief Guest Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey (Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Govt. of India) said that it is indeed a proud moment for not only SMS but for the entire state. He said, in this era of globalization, it becomes imminent for the students to integrate management skills with the industry but at the same time we should shy away from the materialistic culture which is destroying the social set up of our country. He also stated that, the HRD Ministry would provide all possible help to the institution in its growth plans in the near future aiming at serving the society at large. Presiding over the function, the Guest of Honor, the Director of MNNIT, Allahabad, Prof. Rajeev Tripathi said that the integration of teaching, learning and research, necessary for a quality oriented institution, is seen here as SMS, Varanasi publishes four research journals catering to management sciences, computer sciences, entrepreneurship and spirituality. Various Inter College competitions like Solo Song, Solo Dance, Business Quiz, Antyakshari, AdMaking, Rangoli were organized on the event in which different institutes participated with great zeal and vigor.

Cultural evening of the programme witnessed the stunning performance of renowned Punjabi singer Shamsher Singh Mehandi and their group DESI HUSTLERS. Pop Singer and rapper Man Singh & Gora Singh mesmerized the audience with their performance. On this occasion the 22nd issue of the pioneer international journal of SMS Varanasi, ‘Management Insight’ and the 4th issue of ‘SMS Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation’ were released by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. Earlier the Director, Prof. P. N. Jha welcomed the guests. The Executive Secretary of the SMS Society, Dr. M. P. Singh

felicitated the guests with shawl and memento. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sandeep Singh (Adharshila Convener) while the programme was conducted by Dr. (Mrs.) Pallavi Pathak (Assistant Professor). Tour to Shimla, Manali & Nainital

ndustrial cum excursion tour to Shimla, Manali Iand Nainital for the courses MBA, MCA, BCA and B.Com has been organized by the Institute

in the month of October 2016. This year, a seven nights and eight days tour programme was scheduled along with faculty members, Mr. Amitabh Pandey, Dr. Abhishek Srivastava, Dr. Anchal Pathak and Mr. Ashish Tiwari who escorted students. The tour was divided into two groups: first for Shimla and Manali had started their journey from Varanasi to Delhi and then from Delhi to Shimla and Manali. Tour comprised of various adventurous activities like camping, tracking, river rafting, river crossing, rappelling, Shimla, Kufri, Rohtang Pass, Hidimba Temple and other local places.

The other group started their journey from Varanasi to Nainital and their visit includes Bird Sanctuary, Mall road, China Peak view and local site seeing.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON Advancements in Information Technology: Business & Societal Perspectives

ne Day National Seminar on ‘Advancements in Information OTechnology: Business & Societal Perspectives’ organized by the School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi, the Chief

Guest Prof. S.K. Kak (Former V.C., MMTU NOIDA), a well-known figure in the Academia, urged the young generation to use the Information Technology (IT) for creating a better, safer and a smarter society. Speaking further, he said that we should understand our impending roles in such a creation which could lead the country to scale greater heights technologically. He said, today the mobile phone serves as a replacement for so many things of daily use and has occupied an emotional place in life, however, we should limit our identity to the emerging technologies as there is another side of the coin too! IT has to be understood in individual as well as social terms. The key issue is ‘crime’ using IT, a social disruption and that’s why such programmes must bring out initiatives to curb the menace, he added. He also exclaimed that ‘life skills’ are absent in India and it is here we need to transform our IT based education.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Sachin Rane (Sr. V.P., Datamatics Global services) opined on the use of analytics as a part of modern management involving IT that is bringing enormous challenges and opportunities to us. He said that the major problem in India is the IT infrastructure which must be improved soon to enable our competitive advantage further. He highlighted the trinity of success – the

Knowledge management, Consumer feedback and Market Simulation & Forecasting for the industry. He insisted on the need for global designing with local manufacturing. Earlier the Director of the Institute Prof. P N Jha welcomed the dignitaries to this event. There were participants not only from few places in India but also abroad like Libya, Mauritius, Nigeria etc. who presented their research findings in the Technical Session coordinated by Dr. Aditya Kumar Gupta (Assistant Professor, SMS). The Inaugural Session was coordinated by Dr. (Mrs) Pallavi Pathak while the plenary session was coordinated by Dr. Abhishek Srivastava (both Assistant Professor, SMS).

The Valedictory Session was addressed by the Chief Guest of this session, Prof. Rajeev Tripathi (Director MNNIT-Allahabad). He stressed on the fact that one must not get away from reading original text books as they help in innovative thought development which is necessary in IT. He stressed on the importance of ‘communication’ for better career prospects. He urged the students and participants to develop their IT skills for a better living. The Seminar briefing was given by Mr. Anand Prakash Dube (Associate Professor, SMS). The Vote of thanks was presented in the inaugural and valedictory sessions by Mr. S.S. Srivastava (Associate Professor, SMS) and Prof. K.S. Mishra (Dean-Systems & IT) respectively. The Guests were felicitated by Prof P.N. Jha. The Executive Secretary Dr. M.P. Singh, the Registrar Mr Sanjay Gupta, Dean (R&D) Prof Alok Kumar, Dean (DSA) Prof. Sandeep Singh along with other faculty members were also present on the occasion. At the end, the participants and paper presenters were given the Certificates by Prof. Rajeev Tripathi, Director - MNNIT, Allahabad.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

(Director, SMS-Varanasi), Shri Sanjay Gupta (Registrar SMS, Varanasi) and Dr. Alok Kumar (Convener, FDP). During his welcome address, Prof P.N. Jha (Director SMS-Varanasi) extended a very warm welcome to the dignitaries and enlightened the forum with importance of Faculty Development Programme.

Prof. P.R. Agrawal (Vice Chancellor, Purvanchal University, Jaunpur) said that teaching is a noble profession and must be nurtured with cognitive learning process in order to enhance the effectiveness in today’s era of Globalization. He also focused on the importance of dyadic relationship between the faculty and student. He considered communication as an adhesive which acts as a link between the student and teacher. He further added that faculty must identify the portable territory of the students and must invade the same as per their level of knowledge.

In one of the sessions, Prof. Dhananjay Pandey (School of Materials Science & Technology, IIT-BHU, Varanasi) focuses on linking the research with professional teaching. He considered research as science of knowledge creation while teaching as an art of dissemination of knowledge. He further added that Research is becoming a core activity in universities, and individual academic performance. In the contemporary context it is the key to a number of things, including career progression.

In next deliberation, during the two days interactions, Prof. N. K. Sharma (Sr. Advisor and Consultant, BAC, Kanpur) discussed the various attributes of Qualitative and Quantitative Research. Focusing on the importance of Data, he said that it is the data which decides the quality of the research.

Prof. Furqan Qamar, Secretary General, AIU, presented his research done on B-Schools students. He highlighted the expectation of the students from the B-Schools along with the factors of satisfaction.

Prof. A. K. Tripathi, Deptt. of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT-BHU initiated his talk by clarifying three basic terms i.e. research, discovery and invention. He said that nobody can make other person knowledgeable but can facilitate that other person to explore and acquire knowledge. In another session, Prof. M. S. Pandey, English Deptt., BHU, discussed various dimensions of oral communication. Besides variety of punctuation and accent related issues, he discussed about the four fundamental maxims of good communication.

On last day of FDP, Prof. Azhar Kazmi, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals-Dhahran, Saudi Arabia interacted with participants. He discussed about various dimensions including Academic Integrity in Indian and Global research environment. He further differentiated between rigor and relevance in research and need of higher degree of relevance in future research. WORKSHOP ON CASE STUDY: ANALYTICAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT

n order to hone the analytical skill of the management students and Imake them aware with the real time problems and issues of the corporate world a Work Shop on Case Study was organized at SMS,

Varanasi under the banner of Centre for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Skill Development (A Centre of Excellence of SMS, Varanasi) on 24th August, 2016 for the students of PGDM 1st and MBA 1st semester students. During his inaugural address Prof. P.N. Jha (Director-SMS, Varanasi) said that, we at SMS always strive to impart various dimensions of analytical and problem solving skills in the students to make them globally competitive. He said that case study is an integral part of our course curriculum and nurturing the skills in solving the

same will not only help the budding managers during their course but will also help them to carve a niche in their professional journey. During the work shop Prof. Raj Kumar Singh (Chairperson CEISD) interacted with the students on various dimensions of understanding and solving the case studies. A real case pertaining to the Crisis of Maggie Noodles was provided to the students in advance and Prof. Singh discussed the same with real time examples of Nestle India. He discussed the various approaches for solving the case studies along with the technical writing aspect and presentation of same.

MS Varanasi organized ten days workshop on “SOFT SKILL FOR SEMPLOYABILITY ENHANCEMENT” for PGDM third semester students. Event was organized in association with MRS Training

Services, New Delhi. MRS training Services is one among the leading Training providing organizations, and has clients like GMR Group, IIM and other numerous organisations of repute. Mr. Manish Raj Sharma, Director of MRS Training Services conducted the training.

During the inaugural session of workshop, Prof. P. N. Jha, Director of SMS Varanasi motivated the students for attaining best input from the workshop. Workshop made the students to work upon their communication and aptitude related domains. Several ice breaking games and exercises helped the students to improve their personalities. Workshop started on 18th July and ended on 27th July, 2016. On successful completion of workshop, on 27th July certificates were provided to students by Director Prof. P. N. Jha. Event was organized in presence of PGDM Coordinator Mr. Rishi Raman Singh.

SIX DAYS TALLY WORKSHOP FOR B.COM STUDENTS

six day Tally workshop was organized at School of Management Sciences, Varanasi for its B. Com IIIrd year students from 21 Nov to 28 Nov, A2016 (except 26-27 Nov). The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Ashish Verma from the Institute of Financial Accounting for Professional, Varanasi. During the work shop, he focused on the importance of workshop for commerce graduates and the importance of

learning Tally in the final year of B. Com.

Tally, being an important package for maintaining organizational accounts, is a must learn for every commerce graduate for smoothly heading towards his career. During the workshop, Mr. Ashish trained students about the basics of the Tally and involved the students in making them learn about operating the Tally software in the real business scenario. He also taught the advanced features of Tally and its uses in maintaining the accounts for an organization. With the help of practical assignments he explained the actual usage of Tally software.

WORKSHOP ON CAREER & SKILL DEVELOPMENT AVENUES AS A COMPANY SECRETARY

workshop on “Career & Skill Development Avenues as a ACompany Secretary” was organized at SMS, Varanasi on 07th October, 2016 under the banner of Center for Entrepreneurship

Innovation and Skill Development (CEISD). Students from B.Com 3rd year and MBA 1st Semester participated in the programme. Key Note Speaker Mr. Ashish Tiwari (In charge, ICSI, Varanasi Chapter) enlightened the students with various aspects of career progression as a Company Secretary along with the skill set required to pursue the same. During his deliberation he also highlighted the lucrative compensation and working style of a Company Secretary. Ms. Suchita Kothari (Company Secretary & Chief Counselor, Institute of Company) discussed the various aspect of legal and compliance department along with structures of various courses and papers involved.

Earlier during his welcome address Prof. P. N. Jha (Director, SMS-Varanasi) extended a very warm welcome to the dignitaries and said that SMS always strives to help the students not only in their academic endeavors but also in their individual career enhancement and the workshop is a modest attempt towards same. (Coordinator-B.Com Programme) highlighted the importance of Company Secretary as a career avenue and said that the there is huge gap between the demand and supply of qualified Company Secretaries, which creates a great opportunity for the students to purse the same. PERSONALITY TRAININGWORKSHOP BY ABBSCISSA

School of Management Sciences, Varanasi has organized two days ‘Personality Training & Assessment

Workshop’ for PGDM I Semester and MBA I Semester students (one day each for PGDM I Semester, MBA I Semester respectively) at SMS Campus. Workshop has been conducted by ABBSCISSA HR Consultancy, New Delhi on 16th & 17th September 2016.

Mr. B.M. Das, Chief Operating Officer, ABBSCISSA along with Ms. Jayati Mitra initiated the session. Sessions have further taken up by several professional trainers including Dr. Seema Mehra Parihar, Ms. Pooja Jain and Ms. Deepika Shergil.

In full day long training workshop, various personality assessment and developmental activities took place including Numerical Test, Verbal Reasoning, Clerical Aptitude, Map problems, Group Discussion Activities, Story Writing & Personal Interviews.

Organizers provided inputs to students on basis of their performances in various activities individually.

Mr. D. K. Tripathi, GM-Corporate Affairs with the help of Training & placement Cell members facilitated the program. Mr. Rishi Raman Singh, Coordinator PGDM programme, Mr. Kartikeya Singh, Coordinator- MBA Programme also supported the event for smooth functioning.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND YOGA TIPSTO UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

n 16th September, renowned photographer Mr. Neeraj OSharma visited SMS Varanasi and interacted with undergraduate students of Institute. He discussed about

his dream project on river Ganga namely- ‘River of Aspiration”. He discussed about his project which was about 1550 miles long journey from the origin of Ganga to confluence. He explained how this river has been accepted as river of life, hope

and fulfillment in different geographical areas of India and associated regions. He discussed his vivid experiences and showed photographs in his journey of Ganga. He also discussed about important photography skills. Ms. Pushpanjali Sharma famous yoga instructor of Kashi also interacted with students and discussed about self-development through self-observation.

Workshop comprised of complete forty eight hours interaction and exercises spread in eight days schedule. Workshop was planned to deal with various dot net technology with MVC related issues like License Issues, Web Application Development Targeting Web, User interfaces, Intents and services, Storing and retrieving data, Networking and Web services, Graphics and Animation, Multimedia, Maps, Location Services.

On the final day of workshop participating students had developed a prototype using MVC on .NET Technology and provided Training Certificate from Trainer organization.

The students were given various case studies to analyze and solve problems from different industries such as manufacturing, service, retail, software, banking and finance, sports, pharmaceutical, aerospace etc. They were also trained to use various decision-making tools, some advanced analytical tools to analyze complex problems under uncertainty, manage business processes using analytical and management tools, use analytics in customer requirement analysis, general management, marketing, finance, operations and supply chain management.

(abbreviated as SMART) on Sunday, October 23, where around a thousand students participated from more than 25 schools across Varanasi and few from Bhadohi and Sonebhadra districts. This Annual competition is organized every year involving school students for creating awareness about emerging competitive environment and dimensions, to make the participants understand about their local positioning in the peer group, to secure financial assistance for higher studies at SMS in the form of scholarships and to highlight their institution by winning prizes. In such an event, it was Anupam Agrawal (St. John’s, Marhauli, Varanasi) who secured the highest 92 per cent marks in the Online test thereby winning a cash prize of Rs. 15 thousand along with a trophy and Certificate. The second position was captured by Akash Srivastava (St. John’s, DLW, Varanasi) with 81 per cent marks while the third spot was taken by Priyanshu Kumar (CHS Kamachcha Varanasi) with 80 per cent score. They were given a cash prize of Rs. 10 and 5 thousand respectively by the Director of SMS Varanasi, Prof. P. N. Jha. Com., all the three year full time programmes affiliated to MGKV, the Vice Chancellor Prof P. Nag said that time has come for participative learning where both the teacher and the taught learn from each other. Congratulating the students for joining the MGKV professional programmes at SMS, Varanasi, he encouraged the students to become a global, useful and loyal citizen of the country. He also urged the new students to be knowledgeable and competitive to scale heights.

Being students of SMS also implies being students of MGKV as well, he said, and urged them to learn with dedication by utilizing all facilities and amenities provided by SMS at its campus. On the occasion, three distinguished academic luminaries Prof S. K. Singh (Institute of Management Studies, BHU), Prof K. S. Prof. K. S. Jaiswal suggested the new students to decide their career target first and then start the journey. Instead of becoming a job-seeker, the students should try to become job providers, he added. He also stressed upon the importance of decision-making as an important management tool. Prof. S. K. Singh said that it is necessary to augment life skills with professional skills. Application of knowledge and bridging the skill gap is of utmost importance now. He hoped that the Institution will leave no stone unturned in making the new comers a complete human being.

Earlier, the Director of SMS Varanasi, Prof. P. N. Jha welcomed the dignitaries to the campus and presented a brief description of the fast pace of Institution’s growth in the post liberalization era. He outlined how in just two decades the Institute scaled heights in multiple dimensions which made it proudly enter into the elite Top-50 Business Schools in India last year.

The Institution provides not only contemporary teaching with a creative pedagogical mix but also augments it to hone the skill development amongst pertinent publics to serve the society and nation, added Prof. Jha. The 400+ addition in UG programmes is a testimony for the fact, stressed the Director. The Dean (R&D), SMS Varanasi Prof. Alok Kumar presented the highlights of the UG programmes at the Institute. He said that SMS Varanasi happens to be the pioneer in the entire region to start the BBA and BCA programmes with University affiliation 20 years back even when University did not run these programmes in its campus (earlier the affiliation was with VBS Purvanchal University). The strong academic inputs coupled with corporate orientation had made the SMS students occupy more than 50% space in the top-10 merit list every year since inception. He added that the Institution has started the placement activity for the UG programmestoo a couple of years back. From this year, the corporate exposition would be enhanced for these students.

The aim of the competition was to inculcate the basic trading knowledge among the students and to upgrade them with portfolio management services.

The winner was Mr. Amit Kr. Mishra of MBA 3rd with portfolio value of 10,856,103, followed by Ms. Anju Patel of PGDM 3rd with portfolio value of 10,381,859 and at third position Ms Pratima Singh with the portfolio value of 10,360,286. Independence Day is the festival for entire India and celebrated to remember its freedom from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation on 15th August 1947.70th anniversary of India’s Independence, on 15th August, 2016, School

During his address Prof. P.NJha (Director, SMS Varanasi) said that India with its huge population has the latent energy to become superpower, what required is the proper guidance to our youth. We must realize that our strength lies in our unity. Since ancient time India has advocated the philosophy of ‘VASUDHAIV KUTUMBKAM’. He considered the students as the vehicle of growth for the country. He has expressed his thankfulness towards Indian defense services for safeguarding Indian boundaries. He congratulated the faculty members, staff and students on such blissful and memorable moment.

The Photography and Film making club of School of Management Sciences, “Panorama”, celebrated World Photography Day with old and new panorama club members, faculty and eminent photographers of the city on 19th August, 2016. An exhibition of photographs by eminent and

celebrated wildlife photographer Mr. Rajesh Gupta, world acclaimed street photographer Mr. Manish Khattry, and veteran photographer and Mr. Binay Rawal’s was on display. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Amaan, Program Producer, Radio Mirchi. Panorama also launched its 6th photo contest, on the theme “Streets of Varanasi”, the contest closes on 18th September, 2016. For the first time the contest is open for external photographers, and the contest is open in two categories one Panorama Club members and other external professional and amateur photographers. The contest was unveiled by Mr.

Lush green campus of SMS Varanasi witnessed the presence of good number of Alumni members in Ninth Annual Alumni Meet on 9th Nov 2016. Alumnus from different batches and courses

including PGDM, MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA and B.Com attended the event.

The Alumni meet commenced with a welcome speech by Director of the institute Prof. P. N. Jha. Prof. Jha expressed his thankfulness towards Alumni members for their support in earlier years towards placement of students. A brief presentation about the recent activities and exhibition of corporate film of SMS Group was made by Mr. Utkarsh Singh, student PGDM. Later Alumni members were informed about the different milestones achieved by the institution in the recent past including the awards and accolades from the industry and academia. They were also told that SMS Varanasi has reached to the position of 46th rank among B-Schools in India. Information about various academic agreements with the various international institutions of repute was also communicated to the Alumni members.

Earlier welcoming the guests, Convener of SMS Alumni Association Mr. Amitabh Pandey along with Coordinator of Alumni Association Mr. Rohit Mehta interacted with the alumni members. They discussed the issues related to the challenges regarding industry- academia interface and the ways to handle the growing demands of the corporate. Members also interacted in ceremonial manner of SMS Alumni Association followed by open house discussion on issues such as future

expectations of the industry and how to educate and coach the future management aspirants to successfully meet the demand- supply gap existing in the corporate. Ms. Pallavi Thakkar supported the event by moderating the interactions. All the Alumni members were felicitated in the meeting by presenting the mementos. Ms. Akansha Mishra of PGDM facilitated the program as Session Coordination. The event ended with the promise to re union again in next year. LECTURE SERIESA series of Corporate Guest Lecture were orgainsed for the PGDM and MBA Final Year Students. Mr. D. P. Das (D.G.M. - HR, L&T Ltd.), Mr. Mudit Dalela (Corporate-HR, Axis Bank Ltd.), Mr. Nilanjan Mukherjee (Asst. General Manager-HR, Relaxo Footwears Pvt. Ltd), Mr. Sagar Khanna (Dy. Manager-Talent Acquisition, Mahindra Logistics Ltd.) were the main speakers who delivered their talk on Managerial Skills, Opportunities prevailing in private sectors, skills required to be successful in corporate world and Recruitment processes.

Dr. Nripendra P. Rana (Associate Professor, Swansea University, United Kingdom) visited SMS, VaranasiDr. Nripendra P. Rana (Associate Professor, Swansea University, United Kingdom) visited SMS, Varanasi on 22nd August, 2016 and interacted with the students of PGDM & MBA 3rd semester. During the live and interactive session Dr. Rana focused on various dimensions of management education and discussed in detail about insights of various specializations like Marketing, Human Resource, Finance, Agri Business and Information Technology. He also discussed about the contemporary placement scenario in India and abroad and provided the students with useful tips in order to cope-up with global placement opportunities. He considered effective communication as the key for professional success and discussed various attributes of non verbal communication at the workplace. He also gave inputs on preparation of

exams like TOEFL and GRE. At the end of session, he addressed the queries of the students pertaining to placement scenario and career development.

Guest Lecture by Atul ParvatiyarDr. Atul Parvatiyar (CEO, ICRM, Malaysia) has discussed expert marketing and CRM strategies, insightful research, innovative technologies, productive customer operations, and employee skill development with the students. He also anecdotes on life skills / managing skills to the students followed by the Question and Answer session. The program was well coordinated by Dean (R&D) Prof. Alok Kumar.

New Bus for StaffFor the benefit of employees, most awaited initiative was taken by management of SMS who decided this year to introduce a new staff bus for all the teaching and non-teaching staff members who were facing difficulties in getting conveyance to reach institute on time with minimal hazards. Faculty and staff members started their official bus journey from 20th September 2016 with the celebration at Heera Sweets, Chitaipur, Varanasi.

Cloth Donation ProgrammeOn the occasion of 67th Republic Day, a Cloth Donation Programme was organized under the banner of RAINBOW CLUB (Social Welfare Club) of School Of Management Sciences, Varanasi. On the occasion used clothes were distributed to the weaker and needy community of the society. Present on the occasion were Prof. Kamal Sheel Mishra (Coordinator RAINBOW CLUB), Mr. Ravikant Yadav (Assistant Professor, SMS-Varanasi) along with the students from various programmes. The clothes were distributed in the nearby locality of Sankat Mochan Temple.

Women Empowerment & Sensitization ProgramAn awareness workshop was organized for girls at SMS by Pushpanjali Sharma were she has enlightened the students with their own women power. She has also discussed about various physical, biological and emotional changes that girls have to face in their life and how we can deal with them. Further she has also discussed about the importance of yoga in ones own health and how one can be forever beautiful with doing certain yoga aasan. At last Dr. Pallavi Pathak felicitated Mrs. Pushpanjali Sharma with a memento as a token of love and remembrance.

National Literacy DayNational Literacy Day is celebrated every year on 8th September to highlight the importance of literacy in life and remind ourselves of the status of literacy and adult learning worldwide. This year, our Institute has also celebrated this day with great love and devotion

Computer Literacy ProgrammeAs a part of CSR, School of Management Sciences has organized a unique workshop on Computer Literacy at its Khushipur campus, Varanasi for the nearby villagers. This event was organized to spread awareness regarding the importance of computer literacy in today’s scenario. In this workshop, the participants were trained with various operations pertaining to email account handling, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel along with basics of Web Browsing so as to make them aware of E-Governance. The Programme was inaugurated by Prof. P. N. Jha, Director who extended his blessings and warm wishes to the participants. On the occasion, Executive Secretary, Dr. M. P. Singh, Registrar Shri Sanjay Gupta, Computer Literacy Programme Coordinator, Mr. Kamal Sheel Mishra along with other members from the faculty and staff were present.

Gramin Udyamita MissionOne day Entre-preneurial Development programme was organized by the Institute for nearby villagers so that they can understand the basics of entrepreneurship as well as he attributes of a good entrepreneur. In the Entrepreneurial Development Mission Programme, the participants were made aware of various avenues of entrepreneurship along with the basics of business incubation. Director of the Institute, Prof. P. N. Jha has discussed about the contribution of the Institute towards the society as a part of Institute’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) covering activities like providing financial assistance to the handicaps, cloth distribution to needy people, Blood donation campus, etc. Entrepreneurial Development Mission was organized by CEISD (Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development). On the occasion, Executive Secretary, Dr. M. P. Singh, Registrar Shri Sanjay Gupta, CEISD Coordinator Dr. Raj Kumar Singh along with other members from the faculty and staff were present.

Amrit Manthan "Amrit Manthan Mahakumbh"- An Intellectual Summit ,which Was Organised On The Topic " The Role Of Indian Religion, Spiritualism & Cultural Values To Make India A World Leader (Vishwa Guru)". On this occasion, Chief guest Sri Indresh Ji, All india Member, RSS focused on importance of Religions, Spiritual& Cultural values to build a Nation like India. He also said, today we are deteriorating with our social and spiritual values resulting in failing to attain the status of World Leader. Thus, to attain such, we are required to focus on the various lessons and preaching of “Shrimad Bhagavad Gita”. He suggested the concept of “Good Governance” with which we can be able to reduce corruption in India. ShriIndresh Ji has also focused on the concept of “respect to all religion” to attain secularism in real context. He also focused on the prevention of Female Foeticide along with the preservation of cultural and societal values for which youth of our country to come

forward. The main speaker of the workshop Prof. K. D. Tripathi has discussed the importance of human values through which only we can be spiritual leader in real sense. The guest of workshop were Dr. Hemant Gupta, President, Panch Ganga Foundation and Dr Rajiv Srivastava, founder of Anaaj Bank focused on “Career with Emotions”with which one can balance his career and societal values with emotions. The Programme was Jointly Held By School of Management Sciences, Varanasi, Panchganga Foundation and Varanasi Management Association.

Rudraksha Plantation at CampusRudraksha Beads are associated with resemblance of Lord Shiva who has its own spiritual and religious importance in Hindu Mythology. It is believed that the number of beads used should be 108 + 1. Thus, in the same context, Management of SMS, Varanasi has decided for its plantation at the premises so that the negative energies can be removed from the surroundings.

SMS Pays Tribute to the Founder Director Prof. Mukund LalIn a formal function SMS, Varanasi paid tribute to the Founder Director of the institute Late. Prof. Mukund Lal on his 8th Death Anniversary. Addressing the gathering of SMS Family Prof P.N Jha (Director, SMS Varanasi) shared his association with the founder director and said that Prof.Mukund Lal was a great visionary and laid the foundation and academic ambience of the institute and we are carrying his legacy. By his blessings we are continuously progressing on all the front of excellence. He also added that with our hard work, sincere efforts and dedication we must fulfill his dream and this will be the real tribute to him.

Ms. Anjana Verma, PGDM Final Year Student conducted a Motivational Session on "Personality and Skill Development” involving around 70 PG Students of APEEJAY UNIVERSITY, Gurgaon, Haryana. The Session was conducted for the enhancement of personality & different skill sets which are required in corporate world. She also discussed on self-discovery, passion and requirement for happy and peaceful life.
