UK gas bills to soar as oil link strengthens LONDON, 19 July —

British gas prices are goingto be more stronglyinfluenced by globaloil markets for theforeseeable future andhouseholders will have toget used to spending muchmore on energy unless thesurge in oil costs isreversed, Eclipse EnergyGroup said.

link between oil prices andwholesale gas prices in theUK will get stronger overthe next few years asdeclining output from theNorth Sea makes Britainrely more on imports.

THE NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR Sunday, 20 July, 2008 7

(Continued from 16-7-2008)In its bid to realize its policy, the world’s

superpower keeps in it anti-government persons:rebels, intellectuals or opposing party members, from the countries it does not get along with, thecountries that did not yield to its interference, andits targeted countries. Whenever opportune, it usesthem to devastate the targeted countries. It makesattempts to oust the governments inclusive ofdemocracy governments that are defiant to itswishes. So, millions of expatriates from manycountries are staying in it. It is public knowledgethat it is keeping tens of thousands of Myanmarexpatriates in it. With the intention of manipulatingthe international community, it exercises economichegemony, economic incentive, economicsanctions, and protectionism. Under its politicalstrategy, it sows discord between expatriates andanti-government elements and the rulinggovernment, between the people as well as betweenthe people and the governments of the targetedcountries, and between the targeted countries andinternational community. If necessary, it uses forceto invade a targeted country. However, its excusesit gives to do so are never reasonable.

It asked the intelligence units it keeps to launchpolitical, economic, military and social attacks on thetargeted countries to interfere in the internal affairs ofthose countries. It uses black journalism and disinformationto indoctrinate the people of the targeted country. Moreover,it wages psychological warfare and brainwashes thepeople of the targeted country. Now, in Myanmar, internaland external saboteurs are brainwashing the people withthe use of invented news stories.

An organization in that country plants oppositionparty members and expatriates of many countries inBBC, VOA, RFA and DVB. Employing the experienceof the media weapon it had used in the Cold War againstthe Soviet Union, it established many radio stations todominate the airwaves around the world.

I n the Cold War period, it founded RFE (RadioFree Europe) near Munich in Germany to sabotageeight Socialist countries of the Eastern Europe, andRadio Liberty or Radio Liberation also in Munich todevastate Soviet Union. And it appointed expatriates ofthe nation concerned. In the late 1991 when the SovietUnion was on the edge of collapse, BBC, VOA, RFEand Radio Liberty broadcast round the clock.

Fidel Castro regime has ruled Cuba since 1959.With the aim of attacking and overthrowing thegovernments of the Socialist countries in Latin Americaincluding Cuba, the organization established RadioSwan, then Radio Jose Marti and TV Marti and airedexaggerated news stories.

In May and June 1989, China saw a riot at the alieninstigation (especially at the instigation of thatorganization) in Tiananmen Square. After the riot wasover on 4 June 1989, the organization took away someChinese protesters through Hong Kong. Then, itestablished June Four radio station near Chicago andasked the Chinese expatriates to air broadcasts designedto attack the Chinese government.

The broadcasts of RFE proved successful indeposing the Socialist governments of East Europe. So, it founded Radio Free Asia (RFA) in Washington

Media under colonialists’ influence, incapable ofundermining Myanmar’s nationalistic fervour (2)

Tekkatho Myat Thuto attack China and Tibet, oust the Vietnamese,North Korean and Myanmar governments. RFA airsprogrammes in Chinese, Tibet, Korean, Vietnameseand Myanmar from dawn till dusk. Many expatriatesfrom China, Tibet, Vietnam, Korea and Myanmarare appointed in RFA.

Furthermore, it founded DVB radio station inOslo, Norway, for Myanmar renegades who wereinvolved actively in the 1988 unrest. In September2007, it hired a TV channel for the expatriates ofDVB. The organization is behind the RFE, RadioLiberty, Radio Swan, Radio Jose Marti, TV Marti,June Four, RFA, DVB. The congress of its mothercountry provides a lot of funds for the stations.

That organization assigned duties to hundredsof American journalists and thousands of Asian,African, Latin American and European journalistsin manufacturing fabricated news, applying a stringof books compiled by retied officers and journalists.

Secretary of the US State Department HenryKissinger, Chairman of Chinese Communist PartyMao Zedong and Chinese Prime Minister ZhouEnlai held a meeting at the residence of the Chairmanof Chinese Communist Party in Beijing from 11 pmon 17 February to 1.20 am on 18 February 1973. Iwould like to present the discussions of thatorganization made at the meeting (based on facts ofthe book on discussions to go down in the annals ofhistory compiled by Kyaw Win).Mao Zedong : Well, let’s discuss the matters

frankly without using anytortuous words. Actually, the long and t o r t u o u sremarks did not work. I had toldyour American reporter MrEdgar Snow that the news ofyour organization was tortuousand complicated. And it was goodfor nothing.

Kissinger: I completely agreed with yourstatements. It had turned out tobe like what you said.

The discussions between Chairman MaoZedong and Secretary of the US State DepartmentHenry Kissinger in 1973 highlighted the fabricatednews of that organization. Nowadays, the acts of theWest Bloc that are applying many nations as a toolin manufacturing fabricated news and meddling inthe internal affairs of other countries without abidingby codes of press ethics have been totallyunacceptable to any one.

It is known to all that the entire Myanmarpeople have been making relentless efforts in thestruggle for independence, prevalence of peace andstability after the independence, prosperity anddevelopment of the nation and the successfulrealization of the seven-step Road Map in the processof building a peaceful, modern and developeddiscipline-flourishing democratic nation withnationalistic spirit from the time when they werefighting for independence to 60 years after regainingindependence. In the course of that period, theygained a string of achievements overcomingsabotages perpetrated by internal and externaldestructive elements.

It is common knowledge that the West Blocare resorting to various ways and means includingimposing economic sanctions against the nationand dissuading the international community frominvesting in Myanmar in order to undermine thenation-building endeavours and accusing thenation of using forced labour and violating humanrights. They continued funding the remnantinsurgents and sowing discord among nationalraces to jeopardize the already-achieved peaceand stability.

They attempted to cripple every step of theseven-step Road Map. The National Conventiongained achievement only after overcoming a seriesof hardships and obstacles of destructive elements. The internal and external destructive elementscreated unrest in the nation when the Stateconstitution was about to be drafted. However, theentire Myanmar people have been able to draw theconstitution after warding off such disturbancewith nationalism.

Again, when the national referendum wasbeing held, the destructive elements were makingattempts to undermine the process by means of airwaves of BBC, VOA, RFA and DVB that airedfabricated news up to five times a day. But theentire Myanmar people who have already knownthe perpetrations of the destructive mediaunanimously cast votes in favour for the Stateconstitution, and the constitution was thus approvedwith 92.48 per cent of votes in favour.

The severe storm by the name of Nagisstruck Ayeyawady, Yangon and Bago Divisionsand Mon and Kayin States in lower Myanmar on 2and 3 May 2008. The storm left over 80,000 peopledead, over 50,000 missing and over 10,000 injured. The government and donors at home and abroadmade generous contributions in the form of cashand kind in rehabilitation and reconstruction of thestorm-hit regions in Ayeyawady Division. Withgenerosity, goodwill and nationalistic fervour ofthe Myanmar people, the strom-hit regions havenow returned to normal with a large number of newvillages, new towns, new houses and new roads. Itis known to all that internal and external destructiveelements in collusion with some foreignbroadcasting stations made attempts to underminethe drive for rehabilitation and reconstruction ofthe storm-hit regions.

However much the media under thecolonialists’ influence made attempts to underminethe rehabilitation and reconstruction endeavours,Myanmar people who knew thoroughly about thetrickery of that media will continue serving theinterest of the State and the people. At present, thegovernment and the people are enjoying the fruitsof the two national achievements. The firstachievement is that the entire people hadunanimously approved the State constitution, andthe second is that the success achieved inrehabilitation and reconstruction of the storm-hitregions by the government and the people basedon nationalistic fervour.
