Foreword
Welcome in Cape Town to the 3rd “ESPGHAN goes Africa” diploma course
Dear Participants,
In the name of ESPGHAN and our Faculty members from South Africa, we welcome you
all cordially to this year’s diploma course of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and
Nutrition in the lovely city of Cape Town. The course is now in its third year and we hope
that you will enjoy the course as much as your colleagues in previous years.
We will work hard during the upcoming week and are looking forward to have intense
discussions with you. Our goal is to give you a platform for interacting with each other
and have lively discussions about clinical and scientific problems you have in your
institutions and countries. Besides our daily work we have plenty of opportunities to
meet during our mutual social events and get to know each other and we are very
grateful to the Nestlé Nutrition Institute (NNI) supporting these events.
After the first week of the course, you are asked to pass a course on nutrition via the
internet provided and supervised by NNI.
We wish you all a very fruitful and enjoyable week here in Cape Town. We thank
Dr. Etienne Nel and his team for having organized the venue at Tygerberg Hospital of the
University of Stellenbosch, where we are spending our busy days during that week.
Prof. Michael J. Lentze
