Park machine on service pad, Loto fill out JSA & also authority to work permit. Drain engine oil, refill engine oil with supplied oil. Check warning & shutdown system. Retainer centralizer jaws, rod changer jaws, mountings of hyd cylinders. Not enough time to replace F/D oils, replaced engine oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, fuel water separator, breather, hyd breather, oil pressure filter, oil return filter on the air circuit air filter was replaced compressor oil & oil filter was replaced. Run machine checked for leaks , removed tag.

arrived on site, fill out ATWP & JSA. Check new drifter to see if all the correct fittings are in the places they should be. Mark all hoses with coloured cable ties to prevent mixing up hoses with putting them on the re-sealed drifter. Slacken 2 bottom bolts & remove the other 6, place sling behind drifter. Use crane to hold drifter whilst removing the last two bolts. Lift old drifter out, get new drifter into place and put all fitting o-rings in the back, place the 2 bolts in the bottom to line up drifter. Put other bolts in & tighten with 3/4 wrench & pipe. Tighten all hoses. Run machine & get drifter working. Rotation in drifter is correct . Job complete.

Investigate SLU fault, put new crimps on flow switch, found air to be issue. Had very little air form output of solenoid valve. Removed valve and stripped found c4rack in diaphragm. Tested without valve and worked fine. No seal kit is available for this valve. Ordered new valve from warehouse. Returned to workshop to collect and brought back to site. Removed old valve and put fittings on new one. Fitted and tested. Working fine, checked air pressure at switch and was full pressure. Travel to workshop.

Slacken 2 bottom bolts & remove the other 6, place sling behind drifter use crane to hold drifter while removing the last two bolts. lift old drifter out, get new drifter into place and put all fitting o-rings in the back. place the 2 bolts in the bottom to line up drifter, put other bolts in and tighten with 3/4 wrench and pipe. Tighten all hose and run machine and get drifter working. Rotation in drifter is correct . Job Complete.

Finish off service by replacing both hyd filters & compressor filters. Small amount of metal in hyd filter. After filters were replaced, the machine was run to check for leaks . Filters are fine. Problem with the auto grease pump. The air was going straight through pump. Strip the pump down & found it was jammed up. Clean all parts & reassembled pump. Place pump back on drill. Run machine. Auto greaser works fine. Job complete.

Service call to Narangba Site. Fit supplied pressure switch. Adjust new pressure switch of r correct operation of rock oiler. Tighten end cap bolts on rock hammer (two bolts broken). Assist driller to fit new centralizer jaws.

Travel to site. Problem with SLU system. Flow switch on pump had broken off and been replaced. Cannot get rock oil to bleed through system. Check the seals internally OK. Check solenoid OK. Check earth wire OL. Check pump system, OK. Remove bleed screw, no oil. Remove spring retaining bolt, no oil. Amount of oil in tank not enough to push ball off seat. Fill tank to full. Able to bleed system. While drilling cut-off switch staying off. Oil returning to bottle. OK. Travel to workshop

Fit rebuilt drifter to drill, arrive at site pick drifter up from the bottom , deliver to top, wait for drill to finish what they were doing & travel to work shed, remove & refit drifter the rotation was the wrong way and had to remove the pipes & swap them, assist driller to change his rods & assist in moving about 24 other rods, job complete.

Injector harness very britel & need replacing when possible. remove injector seats. every seat had visible damage to orings, clean out bores & fit new seals with updated seals/ inspect injectors with new ones & installed new trim files. re sealed the other 3 injectors. pull tappet cover back on & intake. filled radiator with water & detergent. tried to start machine but wouldn't turn over. checked voltage to be 24V but pulls down to 11v. eventual got a 24v machine there to jump start it. machine still not starting. machine used to jump start drill had to go back to work. checked for faults. removed intake & tappet cover to inspect for leaking injector. tried to wind over for test but batteries still to flat. put engine back together & drove back to mackay. 18/5/12 ordered parts & drove back out to drill. fit new batteries. removed intake & tappert cover to inspect for leaking injector. found #1 injector leaking oil from its side. replaced injector & installed new trim file. put engine back together. started engine. moved machine off blast area. flushed radiator & vac ked out header tank. put fresh water flush through. drained fresh water & filled with new coolant. fit all panels. found out after machine had actually stopped before I got there. this would have been due to the leaking injector. drove back to mackay.


customer complaint: leaking fuel into head after injector sleeve change out. cause of failure: crack in head. resultant damage: nil. repair process comments: 25/5/12 drive out to quarry at Moranbah, inspect coolant & found diesel in coolant. drained coolant. removed intake tubes, rocker cover, rocker box, removed #6 injector & injector sleeve. found no damage. fit new sleeve & injetor. pressure tested fuel rail in head to 100 psi for half an hour with radiator full with water & found no air in radiator. removed header tank & flushed system again. filled cooling system with water. fit new injector harness & new plug to huigh pump as these items were damaged. fit intake tubes. rocker cover, rocker box. test engine and found once engine reached 55 deg diesel started to leak into radiator. drove back to mackay. 26/5/12 ordered parts & packed ute. drove out to moranbah quarry. removed intake tubes, rocker cover, rocker box. removed injectors #1,2,3,4,6 removed inector seats #1,2,3,4,6 inspect all parts and bores found no faults. put engine back together with new seat. fit intake tubes. rocker cover, rocker box. test engine & it leaked fuel again. believe the head to be cracked at this point. drive back to mackay 28/5/12 - 30/5/12 remove air box & other parts to gain access to head. drain coolant & oil. remove head. remove theromostat. pressure test fuel rail in head. leaked 10 psi over one hour. clean up all parts. swap over parts to new head. swap over injectors to new head. noted some damaged to coolant temp sensor. fit head & all hoses lines & cables to head. fit air box & pipes. fill engine oil & change engine oil filter. fill radiator with water & detergent. run engine with ET. no active faults. drain radiator. continued to flush radiator another 5 times but still having difficultly removing diesel from system. filled radiator with long term radiator flush & water. sent machine with spare flush & coolant. credit parts.

ON 11/12/13 - repair engine fault - C7 in tamrock drill will not fire up in the morning after prestart checks. Cause of failure: first visit faulty speed sensor, excessive resistance found. Second visit - faulty isolator switch. (tamrock) repair process comments: first visit travelled to the machine & inspected E stops & isolators for correct operation, all found ok. connected E.T to the machine & found fault codes relating to the engine speed sensors. followed the troubleshooting guide & with much difficulty accessed the engine to test the harness & the sensors. found our voltage, resistance & continuity from the ECM to the sensors were correct. resistance across the sensors were checked & found to be out of spec at 1018 OHMS. returned to the branch to pick up another sensor & travelled back to site & installed it. started & tested the engine several times & confirmed the repair. fitted panels & guards and returned the machine to the customer to continue work. following day was contacted by the customer & advised the engine would not start. second visit - travel to machine location & prepare for troubleshooting procedures. communicate with operator to gain background on machine. hook up diagnostic service tool & check for any active diagnostic issues that would cause the monitoring system to disable injection.found nothing. crank engine & monitor real time status parameters - found all to be as expected except that "user shutdown" was on. checked schematic & removed the shutdown wire from the customer connector above the flywheel housing. cranked starter & engine fired up as normal. opened all "E" stop switch junction boxes & checked electrical operation - all ok. read through tamrock schematic & saw that relay "K101" received its earth through an insulated second contact set in the isolator switch. bridged the contact studs & found that the relay energized & the shutdown signal turned off. advised operator of findings & recommended he contact Tamrock for a replacement. in the mean time the two wires were bolted together to allow machine to carry on operating. $1,426.12
